Ill be getting my car in a few weeks after 23 years of waiting. I can't wait to become part of this wonderful community. I have already been well embraced by the folks on dmctalk and they have all been a joy to talk to and are helping me find my new baby. And much like the 2 gentlemen with the red car that was being restored, once I own this car, I will never sell it. And more than likely I will be buried in it.
What they said about no matter where you go, no matter what other kick-ass cars are around you... the DeLorean will be the center of the crowd's attention. This is absolutely true. You can throw all the hate you want about the car, but when it pulls in on cruise-in night IT instantly pulls the crowd. Almost everyone has seen yet another souped-up Mustang... But they've never seen a DeLorean before. And in the end, it's who gets the attention.
Man. I've had mine for almost 15 years. I agree. It is NEVER not-cool anymore. I love it more today than I did 15 years ago. Every time I see it, it blows me away. It is seriously cool, every time I see it. It never goes away. I always feel like a kid.
It is so great to see these 2 young men so proud of what they own. They are obviously living comfortably, but are so far from being "bored" with their belongings. I truly hope that they do keep this car forever. Heck, it even looks great to me with the body panels removed. There will always be something so special about the DeLorean.
I'm going to link this on the Jay Leno garage video which featured the back to the future delorean with the director and the guys who restored the original movie car, they spoke about the twin turbo but said it was never made, they should see this.
Very nice doco. Well done. Love to see more about the DMC in the U.S.There about 50 of us in Australia definately from different backgrounds and age groups. Vin 1916
That's funny that you found another owner who collected coin-operated games in addition to his DeLorean. I knew a DeLorean owner who had (and probably still has) a fantastic collection of Laser-Disc games from the 83-84 era (including some rarities like Cube Quest). When I purchased a Dragon's Lair cab to replace my water-damaged wood, he mentioned his DMC 12, and of course - I was jealous as hell. Still am actually. That factory twin-turbo model is one of 4 or so built (unless my memory is shot). That's a huge get.
Great Vid thanks for posting. I to Met John D. at the same Car show in Cleveland it was at the dinner and got a picture with him and He Signed Something for me A Most Gracious Man. One of the most greatest times in my Life was to meet him. It was A very sad day when he passed I wanted to go to the Funeral but RL Stuff got in the way of that.
A sad burnt up DMC example is the closes I got to considering one. Fortunately I got hold of a Subaru Brat so I can pretend to have a gull-wing car.. :) A tech and a arcade game collector as well. :) Future project is a "Cannonball Run" movie Subaru hatchback that was much much cheaper by a hundreth, that has as many prop gadgets as a BTTF car. Someday..
