I learned something new about PVC while watching the first coin. I didn’t know how PVC affected coins. Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your graded coins.
This is probably the most educational video I've seen on coins in a long time. Kind of impressive since it's "just" a grade-showing video and not specifically an educational one.
I don't love when coins are graded, but i buy them so i don't get swindled online. I love holding coins and seeing them without the obstruction of the holders. I don't care if that capped bust quarter is cleaned or not, i want it!
Dr.G where have you gone? I miss your beautiful coins and the way you reveal grades with the audience is the best on RUclips. Hope all is well, and you come back someday
Love it. Subscribed. Was a childhood collector who apprenticed for an investment numismatist, so I was able to see some really nice coins firsthand. Beautiful coins. Thanks.
Hey, thanks buddy. A full collection might be kind of mind numbing. LOL. I think little by little might be better. :) I have lot's more to show but not a lot of extra time to make the vids. But I'll keep at it. Thanks again.
Hey thanks Brett. I just love that coin as well. One of the favorites in my collection. So lucky to have that. I have lots of stuff to show in vids, just no time lately. I'll get going hopefully within the next few months. Thanks again.
Hey Dr. G, I have to say, I love your videos. Your enthusiasm is infectious. When you get excited I can’t help but smile. I’m 48 and currently “deployed” to Kuwait. I was laying in bed, watching RUclips videos one night, trying to clear my mind enough to fall asleep when RUclips suggested a video by Rob Finds Treasure. I watched it and was hooked. Then I stumbled upon your videos and of all the coin hunters, yours is the only one I have subscribed to. I haven’t watched them all, but am slowly ticking them off. I’m not a coin collector.....yet....but when I return home, I will be diving in head first. It seems to be a fascinating and rewarding hobby. I went ahead and bought some proof sets for family key dates such as anniversary and birthdays. I bought some silver proof sets as well and made my wife promise she would leave them unopened until I get home. I’m curious, how did you get into coin collecting? Where do you buy your coins? Do you hunt them or look for deals online or in shops? Have you been burned yet? Keep on enjoying what you do and keep putting these videos up. You help soothe a long day and make the time away from family bearable. God bless.
Haha, I can't believe your watching in Kuwait. Wow. First, thank you for your service. I'm a big vet supporter and appreciate all the sacrifices men and women in uniform have given for this country all the way back to George Washington. You sound like me a couple years ago.😊 Coin collecting is a great hobby, and I'm sure you'll really get into it. I'm excited about your proof sets. Meaningful dates are a great way to collect. I do the same thing. And I'm sure your little guy back home will love collecting with dad, or grand-dad :). I buy most of my coins from ebay. Also some from Heritage, and other on line auctions, and coin shows. I don't look for super good deals; when I see a nice coin I am happy with, I just pay regular price. All these coins are so unique, after you look at a lot of them you can tell what is attractive to you. Don't worry about the grade too much either, just buy what you like. One good thing about Ebay is that you can return coins 95% of the time, and return shipping is cheap. I would advise caution when doing business with coin dealers, they are there to make money, even though they will all tell you they have been collectors since they were three. LOL (they're not collectors, they're middle men.) :). Any, yes, I've gotten lots of junk that looked and sounded great on line... Just return it. I'm so glad you enjoy the videos. It's really nice to know I might be helping you guys out even in a small way. I enjoy a fantastic life in America because of people like you. I really appreciate it. Thanks for the great comment Jason. And if I can help you out in anyway don't hesitate to ask. 👍😊
Thank you for your support. I absolutely love what I do. I plan on staying in as long as this body of mine can keep up with them young bucks. I’m pretty hesitant to buy coins on Ebay, but I’ve seen a few sellers with 100% positive feedback, so maybe once I become more confident. Ebay pictures can have a way of hiding flaws though. Guess I’ll have to take the plunge sooner or later. Especially if there are return policies as you stated. Your videos, along with a lot of google searches, are a big help. I even find myself guessing right occasionally. My biggest hang up is knowing an XF from an AU and and AU from an MS. But I’m slowly figuring it out. I’ll definitely be reaching out for some helpful advice from time to time, if you don’t mind. I can’t wait for your next video. Hopefully there will more with mini history lessons embedded within. Love em.
Dr. G, quick question for you. In your opinion, which would be the better value for long term collecting; uncirculated, proof, or silver proof. To add context to the question, I’m looking at buying a 2019 set from the US mint. Should I buy an uncirculated set, proof set, or a silver proof set. I’ve looked online and the only advice I’ve read is to collect what I find interesting. I want to collect for future numismatic value, to pass off to my boys and grandkids. I know your thoughts will only be your personal subjective opinion, but I thought I’d ask anyway. By the way, I only have a few more videos to go to complete your channel. Will you be adding more videos in the future?
That's a tough one for me Jason as I know very little about modern coins. These sets look really cool, but I think that they are producing so many of them that the future value will probably not rise significantly. They are mainly a fun thing to collect. I like proof coins, but they have been advertising the uncirculated set as being coined on a "special press, using greater force than regular circulating coins" I'm not sure what that means. I don't know if they are individually handled like regular proof coins, or are allowed to fall into bags of coins that produce small surface marks similar to the uncirculated sets of the past. Not sure. The limited edition silver proof sets are really nice, but 50,000 sets is not really that "limited" in my opinion, so the future value is anybody's guess. I imagine that's where they get the "buy what you like" advise. :) Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I have lots of coins to make new videos with but I'm swamped over here at the moment. I'm working on setting up another room in the house to make it easier to make videos, but it's involving minor construction,(that I do myself) so that is taking me some time. And, "minor", always turns into "major", construction. LOL
Dr. G I miss all your videos I know with the pathetic everything slow down but when will you have a video available because love to watch your shows they’re awesome
Hey really appreciate it Dave. I've been so busy it's rediculous, but I have lots to show. When I come up for air I'll be making many more vids. Thanks again bud.
This was another of my faves of yours. Your passion and knowledge comes through loud and clear. Love it. I couldn’t find my original comments but know I was here LOL Great stuff, Doc!
1911 Barber Dime proof is sweet. That reverse is wild. And the 20 cent is phenomenal. I have an AU 1875-S and thought I was cool...dude!! That obverse is almost PL
@@Dr.G watching the part with the Pilgrim commem was like watching a way more intelligent version of myself LMAO It’s amazing the similarities of our interests in collecting 👍
Dr. G, I know you don't make videos anymore, and I understand producing them is a tough labor to sustain, but know that your vids are some of the best coin content on RUclips. I love your informal commentary you provide. It's relaxing and amusing. We've all been there--slack-jawed at the good and the bad when we get our coins back from the graders. Hope you're well. You illustrate the joy and challenges of collecting coins.
Hey thanks Eric for the kind words. I'm feeling good now after a pretty bad time. Covid twice was a cake walk compared to the other stuff, but I'm back almost 100% and am going over some tutorials on Adobe Premier and hope to get back into the vids again. I have been collecting so much cool stuff, and I'd love to show some of it off. I really appreciate your nice comment and thanks again. 👍👍
Always learn so much from your videos Dr G. The 1834, I would have guessed AU50. The proof barbers honestly have me wanting to pick up an example - love the design, stunning. Glad the cameo came back haha. Some wonderful toning on these coins, the last one 1808 was absolutely gorgeous, sad about the smoothing result it has so much eye appeal. Can't wait for the next video
Thanks buddy. Yeah, the 1808 is an amazing piece of history. That coin has edge lettering, (which I should have mentioned), that looks very poorly made. I wasn't sure if it was genuine, but very glad to find out it was real, considering the overall condition. For me, I agree with you, the eye appeal and condition make up for the cleaning it's had sometime in the past. I'm glad to have it. As always, thanks for watching, and commenting my friend.
Just going through some of your older material I had never seen before and ran across that 65 Barbara Cameo!!! Beautiful coinage you got there good sir, all great coins to see. Thanks for the upload!
Please Come Back!!!!!!! I love the way your an average joe learning with us. I’m going to keep posting the same thing on all your videos until your back lol. miss ya Dr. G Thanks for your videos though, they are awesome! Btw I love the prices that you added in the video
Thanks my man. I'm definitely coming back. Looking at a new computer for vids today and also a different editing software. Lots to show, no gold mining this year. Canadians shut me down.😢 You're the best bro. 👍
I'm always curious about what coins might be worth that I see on other videos so I thought I'd do the work and list them so people had an idea. It's a pain to check actual sold prices vs. just looking in the price guide, but often the price guide is way off. Thanks for the comment, appreciate it.
I love watching your videos. Absolutely beautiful, high grade stuff.....I shoulda listened to mama and been a Dr...hahaha....so if ya ever need an adopted son or heir, Im available...hahaha....beautiful stuff Doc...stunning
Hey Dr G. My name is Joshua and I absolutely love the videos you have done. I’ve watched every one. I’ve noticed that you haven’t made a video in quite some time. Will you be making more? Did you stop collecting? Thanks so much Josh.
Hi Joshua, thanks for the great comment. I'm collecting like mad, but no time to make vids. I can't wait to start up again and show all the cool stuff I have picked up. Sorry for not posting, but I've just been buried over here and the vids may look like they are easy to make, but in actuality they take me hours and hours to make. I would love to see some of your stuff as well Josh. Make a vid bud. 😊
@@Dr.G Thanks so much for the response. Ohh I know, It is definitely a grueling process in making those videos. I make drone videos every once in a while and it literally takes me hours and hours for just one 5-10 min video. Unfortunately I have a confession. I had always collected coins from a lil kid and you know had the wheat pennies and Buffalo Nickels and silver certificates, just the stuff you can find in everyday circulation. Then about a three years ago I found some old coins that I collected in the attic and got really big into it. It’s funny that now that I’m an adult how different it changes the game. I sort of became obsessed with the coins. Spent probably 20k on them. On eBay and Craigslist and Facebook market place 24/7 trying to find coins. I would go to the bank and Oder $2000 worth of half dollars and search through them to pull the silver out. I amassed quite a collection. 1916 D Mercury Dimes, rare Morgan’s gold and silver eagles sets proofs etc. I went overboard. And I would Always be on RUclips watching coin videos. It kind of even interfered with my job. My boss caught me taking pictures of a coin in my office to list on eBay. Lol. I’d stay up all hours of the damn night watching videos. And I can hands down tell you that your videos you made are the best out their. After 100’s and 100’s of hours of watching nothing compared to your videos. So I watched every single one. And then their came a point where I watched them all and then all I could do was try and find another person that compared to your quality and knowledge. That never came. So as the time rolled on and I didn’t see any new vids from you I sort of slowly lost interest in the coins. And then the damn Covid hit last year so I took some time off from work and I ended up taking almost my entire collection to the PCGS members only show In New Orleans and sold them all. Took a bath. And then I used all the money to build a giant deck and dock and boat lift on the back of my house. Lol. We live right on the water in Pensacola Florida. It’s funny how your phone is always watching and listening to you. I was laying in bed one night last week and for what ever reason thought about the complete set of PR70DCAM silver eagles I had sold for about $2500 lol and was really regretting that Decision because I told myself I would never ever sell that no matter what. Which I ended up doing. 😫😫 so I decided to search eBay and buy another set. But low and behold. Their wasn’t a single set out their to buy and on top of that was kicking my self in the ass in seeing what there prices have gone up too. I probably sold a couple hundred graded PR and MS 70 eagles for $20-$50 and now even those are through the roof. So just last week I was sitting here and one of your videos pops up on my news feed and so I pretty much watched all your videos again. And that’s what prompted me to send you a message. I noticed you still hadn’t added any new videos but also noticed that you had responded to people’s comments recently so thought I’d give it a shot and write you. Have never done that before but thought I’d tell you how your videos really affected me and how much I greatly appreciated them. Anyhow sorry for the book I’m writing here. Lol Long story short. Your videos once again have sparked my interest and I’m going to start collecting again. I dug out what I had left that completely fits in a shoe box now. Nothing even special basically a hand full of sliver left. Some tube uncirculated eagles and 90% stuff but not a single holdered coin can you believe it. Ahhh thinking of what I all had kills me. Well I suppose I’ll end it here thanks again so much for sparking my childhood memories and hobby. I hope you Post a new video soon. I’m sure I’m not the only person who feels this way. And who knows in today’s world you might be RUclips famous overnight. The name is Josh if your every in the southeast look me up. 850-586-9299 love to meet you!! Take care. Josh
What's Up G? This vid came across my feed,so I figured I'd watch it again. The Mayflower II was built in Devon,England in 1955-1956.Thd restoration was just recently completed and I believe it sailed into Plymouth about 10 days ago.Who would've thought that when you were talking about this being done 2 years ago, that we'd be going through what we're going through now.Your presentation on your vids was outstanding, to say the least.Take care bro
JRW3 ha wow I would love to see that ship. They are always turn out to be much smaller than I imagined. I love to sail. I’m just crossing the cal border into Oregon. Just drifting up the coast for a month getting out of the heat and fires. I visited the Carson city mint then both the San Francisco mints. I’ll get to the Canadian border but won’t cross. Two week required quarantine. No thanks. My remodel of my place is pretty much finished. Just need to clean up the tools and move furniture. New vids coming soon after. Can’t wait to get going again. I have lots to show. Thanks for the note bud say hi to the big J.
I hope you have a good and safe trip.I hear ya on the 2 week quarantine, visiting Canada would've been cool.I hope you got some cool pics and vids of the Mints.Me and Johnny got to go on the USS Constellation and some others at the Baltimore Inner Harbor.Seeing the Mayflower II sailing in would've been awesome. When you make your next vid,I'll be the first in line to watch.BTW,thanx for always asking about John, that means ALOT to me
That was a Great video. I actually nailed the Peace Dollars. That's what made me watch. Lol. Glad you got your DCAM back and rightfully so. Oh, I would of gave that 2nd Peace Dollar a 64+👊
Awesome you got the cameo back ..That's cool Doc . and you have some beautiful coins Wow I mean like stunning that Barber dime should have been cameo ..Man to lot of money in coins ..I'm to Poor ...
Boy o' boy do I enjoy the way you with these pieces. It gives it a less edgy feel that is fun and trivial. And your commenting... beast. It's so lazay fair and coy. I get a comfortable feeling when I watch with a bit of an edge on testing my grading capabilities. Someone should look into doing a show called let's grade this thing with coins and what not. I think it would be a real hoot. With you as host of course. Then it's settled you on a coin show, now that's entertainment!!!
I am a member of NGC as well and have sent coins to them. Most of my stuff is PCGS though and to me, it just looks better to have a set, or most coins in a collection in the same looking holder. Thanks for watching Mark.
Hahah yeah, expensive experiment. But I learned a lot from that whole experience. Crossovers can kill you, and grading is subjective. The bottom line is that you have to learn to enjoy your coins for what they are. To me the grade is just a general notation of the condition. David Bowers said that numismatics has a steep and long learning curve, and I'm actually thankful for that, because that's where half the fun is. Thanks for the comment.
Hey Dr G have you ever "found" a Morgan Dollar Proof that the Pawn shop had in the regular Morgan section - I thiiiink I have one now - an 1886 PF that cost me $40 :) . It looks exxxxxactly like your Barber Quarter with the frosted fields and just like your Barber quarter the reverse stands out even more than obverse. Anyhow - how do you tell and look for proofs? Lastly, where you buy your coins - awesome to see either way - STAY SAFE!
It's kind of hard sometimes to tell a proof coin. I always look at the border first. It needs to be really sharp and defined. There are many proof like Morgans that have frosted devices and mirrored fields. They are not coins made on hydraulic, or large screw presses, like true proofs though. I get most of my coins on ebay, heritage and private sellers. Thanks bud.
I thought that 1934 Peace dollar was a ms65, until you said something about the nose, then I thought ms64. I was right the 1st time. Nice coin sir.👍👍👍😃😎
This just came across my feed so I watched it again. I must have watched this video 5 times now haha it’s a coin classic! I know it’s time consuming brother but please put out another video sometime One good thing on RUclips now is that you can do a Short. They take no time to make , just show a coin and make a couple brief comments I like the longer format much better but I don’t always have time to do those so I’ve been putting out a short here n there Take care buddy!
Hey my man. Nice to hear from you. I've never done a short, but will look into it. Had some bad health problems for the last half year, and now feeling better but now have to catch up on unfinished business. I did buy a cool new powerful computer to make vids and I have loads of stuff to show. Thanks for the check up. 👍👍
Dr. G, I'm just getting into coin collecting. Where are you find these gorgeous raw coins to send in for slabs? Just trying to see where I could look in an effort to find some at fair to rediculously low prices. Thanks and keep up the great vids, I'm enjoying them
Haha, when you find a place selling at ridiculously low prices, we'll go in partners.. LOL. It's very hard to find nice raw coins. Word of mouth is good when someone has passed and the heirs are selling a whole collection. Also, just constant watching of Ebay for good deals. Those don't last long as there are lots of people checking. But if you keep looking you'll get your share. Have fun collecting and be patient. Enjoy every coin you have.
Wow I was certain that the 1808 Capped Bust would come in at either a high MS or maybe even a proof. The lettering seemed raised and the reverse seemed especially brilliant . I guess this shows just what I know. I did get the rest of them correct. I just found this channel and it is a lot of fun. I have binged on it for a couple of days. RUclips keeps throwing them up at me and I keep watching. Your coins, of course, are much better than my coins so there is both entertainment value and knowledge. Thanks for posting.
Hey awesome Ron. I'm glad your enjoying them. I'm working on a new one and it should be out in the next couple weeks. Thanks again for the cool comments. By the way, we're both in the same boat. Learning is the best part. :)
Yes Dr, G you have what is called a wizzed coin on your 1808 Whizzing is done to simulate mint luster. It's done with some type of high speed too (like a dremel). What happens is the tool puts numerous scratches in the coin (similar to flow lines) which simulates the luster. Usually, whizzing is only done to the fields of the coin, but can be done over the devices too. A good whiz job can be hard to detect, and can fool a lot of people. The "giveaway" for a whized coin would be a build up of metal around the raised areas of the coin (this would be where the whizzing stopped). they can be very nice if done by a pro. I bought a couple myself by accident.
Yeah, I heard they did that a lot in the 60's. I'm sure it's difficult to tell on coins that have been only lightly wizzed. I am a little disappointed it's not a problem free coin but very happy it's not fake. A great piece of history. Thanks so much for the informative comment.
You might make the best coin videos on youtube! Ben the CoinGeek makes good videos... and CoinHelpu! Thanks for all the fun viewing and all the educational information! Your videos have helped me become a better eye grader!
I like watching all your un boxing's. I have learned a lot. I recently acquired a 1964 Kennedy half dollar error coin. It is a spectacular coin with incredible eye appeal. I am having an extremely hard time finding a place to have it sent out for grading. Any recommendations? I only have this one coin to be graded.
Hi Tip Up Silver, Thanks for the comment. If you only have one coin to grade, and it's not a super high value coin it would probably not make sense to pay a top grading company for the service. They have minimum charges for handling and insurance, (which, In the end is just a "fee" that has a label making it appear justified). I don't think it's an honest way of doing business, but in the end, like most of the other bills we get nowadays; what can you do? having said that, I also would not let a cheaper less known company grade it either. The other companies are just not respected. I would love to take in coins for mass grading, but I don't want the liability. (It also takes a lot of time to get these submissions organized, and sent). If I were you, I would probably seek out a local coin club. They may have members submitting coins and you could add your coin to the submission. I would love to see your coin. Thanks for watching.
This coin is special enough that I paid $202.50 for a half dollar. If you have a email address I can send some pictures of it to you. If you would like to see it.
They net grade coins sometimes . Some coins are so old that they net grade them down a grade or two if they have been cleaned long ago and have re toned
Everybody has their own method Kurt. Most people use angle cutters (dikes), or end cutters, some nutjobs use hammers. LOL. I use a different method and I'll make a video showing it sometime. Very classified. Hahaha.
Surfaces smoothed may mean it was whizzed, who'd you buy that from? I'd let them know I was pissed. If you like proof toning check out older Canadian silver proof sets, they can have an amazing range of colors in them.
pete'spal I do like toned coins and the old Canadian dollars are great. I’d like to get a 1936 george V voyager with great toning. Thanks for commenting.
your 1918 is a great coin considering PCGS have a MS67 coin that is missing nearly half of the shield details and the whole right side of the denticals on the obverse and yet somehow its still a MS67. You can see the coin I mention in the graded coin as the main 1918 larger pictured coin. I have never seen a non full strike coin get MS67 like this date for quarters. I am so frustrated for you on your 1952 cameo they need to be very consistent and I stay away from the cameo's for buying coins to get graded because of this. Glad you got them to give back the well deserved cameo detail. Wow I love your 1808 half what a great looking coin to bad some one screwed it up, but still a keeper in my book. Great coins once again nice video thanks for sharing
Yeah, Rich. It's a real hit and miss with the Cameos. There obviously needs to be a different grading system with regards to cameos. There are many degrees of cameo as well as having just one side cameo, and no real way to describe or grade those differences other than the "kind of ridiculous" two grades they have now. I think they should put it on a 1-10 scale noting cameo contrast. There are so many beautiful coins with nice cameo but not enough to warrant a cameo designation (as it exists now) that have no label notation whatsoever. I believe this will change eventually and the coin grading companies will make a killing regrading all these coins. LOL Thanks as always, for the comments Rich.
Hahahah, That 50 has proved it's point. lol. Buy the coin not the holder.... :) I'm going to trade it in for something else cool. That Hope diamond of the numismatic world can haunt someone else for a while....
@@daanje1062 I love American history. They were extremely brave, intelligent men. It's sad to see what has happened to this society. I guess nothing lasts forever, but at least we can read about a "better time". Thanks again. :)
I'm shocked (according to your listed prices) that such an old coin in good shape (1834 quarter) would sell for just hundreds when modern coins are selling for millions?!
MaxShiraz hahaha that was kind of funny. I use the term clean for a coin with no problems. "It's a clean coin because it wasn't cleaned". Lol. Another funny thing happened just as I was saying that the low battery note popped up on the camera screen and I wasn't sure if it was visible on the recording. It's crazy making these videos. Anyway I'll try the acetone and resubmit. Thanks for the comment
Yeah, I can watch vids when I have time at work but still no time to make new vids myself. I have lots to show and will be cranking out new vids as soon as I can come up for air. Thanks for checking in GD.👍👍
Torsheim, I do plan on putting together a couple videos featuring some of my favorite pieces with some history and interesting facts. The problem with entire collection videos is that they usually move so fast over each piece that it's kind of mind numbing. I don't think the coins are given the attention they deserve. Another problem is that I'm a complete amateur at editing videos. It takes me ages to finish one, I can barely keep up with what I have coming from PCGS. LOL. But your idea is being taken seriously, and when I have the time I'll do something like that. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks my friend. I bought/inherited a nice collection some time ago, and have since been bitten by the coin collecting bug. I have subsequently spent much more money than the original price for the collection acquiring additional pieces. :) I'm really enjoying the learning process. (except when I make a stupid expensive mistake) LOL Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hey Dr. G Whats up! Bummer on the Standing liberty Quarter. Amazing details on it though and if it can be restored that would be awesome. Interesting toning on the Peace Dollar, you don't see that often or at least I have not. That proof Cameo Barber Quarter is absolutely stunning. I would like to have a great example like that one day! That bust half is more worn compared to your other pieces in the video but a beautiful coin with most of the details. It has a nice eye appeal as well. I was so close to getting one a few months back. It is still on the list. Another 65 Barber, Wow! 20 cent piece still has a lot of luster. I wasn't sure on the surface on the front looking like a finger print pattern at first glance. In the clear on that one! The 1927 Peace dollar was still a great looking coin and MS64 is a respectable grade. 65 would have been something though, quite a jump in value. The surface on that last coin can get you at first glance. It is a shame. I really liked the toning. You won out on most of the other ones and I am sure that made up the difference. One of my favorite videos are you going over your graded pieces. Awesome additions sir!
Hey thanks Brad. That cameo Barber just sent me over the top. I really love that coin. And the Barber dime was cameo on the obverse but didn't make it on the reverse. Love that one as well. I have some cool stuff waiting to be unboxed, the PVC Standing Liberty was resubmitted and is back, but as yet I haven't had much time to breath over here. Super busy. Pretty soon though. Heading to the big PCGS coin show in two weeks. I want to see that shipwreck gold....Thanks for stopping by bud. btw, do you have a z06 ?
I have one of those gas powered RC versions. You get that thing going and you can top out at 70mph. Haha Just joking, I do have an older one with some goodies on it. 2003 which is the 50th year anniversary of the corvette. That was my dream car when I saw it in 1997 as a kid I knew I had to have it one day. Coins,Cars and Coffee make the world go round!
Glad you made it over with those Barbers. I was pretty sure you did. I think they will be able to fix that Standing Liberty Quarter and that will add just that much more value! Shipwreck gold sounds exciting. Eventually I want to get a smaller denomination of something from Spain that is much older gold, 1700's to 1800's. 1/2 or 1 Escudo would be nice.
I did Louis, but I'm so behind with my videos the coin is still in the PCGS box unopened. I don't know how they actually graded it after I removed the PVC. I'll show it on a future video. I'm buried over here. LOL
Thanks for the prices added to screen. that helps a lot. This is soooo much fun.
Hey I appreciate the kind words my friend. Everything about this hobby is interesting to me, and it's great fun to learn new things. Thanks again. 👍👍
Dr. G, love the videos of the proof sets. I started collecting them because of the way you showed me how nice they are. Thank you!!!
Awesome Marty, have fun. Thanks for the comment.
I don't love when coins are graded, but i buy them so i don't get swindled online. I love holding coins and seeing them without the obstruction of the holders. I don't care if that capped bust quarter is cleaned or not, i want it!
hm I’m sorry but if you keep holding those coins they will ruin value…
@@Thegooglemapsperson not really just hold them right and it’s fine
Dr.G where have you gone? I miss your beautiful coins and the way you reveal grades with the audience is the best on RUclips. Hope all is well, and you come back someday
Thanks for the kind words my friend. I’m working on getting back Learning adobe premier pro now. Soon buddy soon. Lol
Wow I'm so glad I found your channel you have some amazing pieces of history my friend.

Love it. Subscribed. Was a childhood collector who apprenticed for an investment numismatist, so I was able to see some really nice coins firsthand. Beautiful coins. Thanks.
Thanks bud. 👍
Wow, I would love to see a full collection video someday! You have some epic pieces, Dr. G, thanks so much for sharing!
Hey, thanks buddy. A full collection might be kind of mind numbing. LOL. I think little by little might be better. :) I have lot's more to show but not a lot of extra time to make the vids. But I'll keep at it. Thanks again.
That barber dime is so beautiful. Great video
Dr. G, I love your passion for the hobby and the videos that you create. Disappointed that you dont make vids more often! Please keep up the content.
Hey, thanks Joshua. I have lot's more to show, and I'll get to it eventually. Like everyone, I'm swamped. 👍😊
"Nice job Dr G"
Thanks for sharing your Coins Truly Enjoyed your videos.
Just subscribed, wanted to say that barber quarter was just absolutely amazing.
LOL
The standing liberty quarter with the PVC would do well with a bath in denatured alcohol. Conservation may save this beautiful piece.
I love that 1892 Barber proof!
I really love that 1834 small size quarter also!
XF 45!
I believe I have a 1831 with the same grade as well
Love watching your videos. Keep them coming.
Capital Currency thanks my friend 👍
Man I am just dying for you to upload again! I love guessing the Grades!
I'm working on it buddy. I have the coins still in the boxes but no time to open them. Pretty soon I hope. Thanks for watching and the comment Danny.
Watch it again Doc.Im new kid in coins it's a learning process for me.thanks again.Job well done.

@@CSAN Hahahah Thanks bro. Great fun. And more to come. 👍
@@Dr.G watching the part with the Pilgrim commem was like watching a way more intelligent version of myself LMAO
It’s amazing the similarities of our interests in collecting 👍
@@CSAN Hahahha yeah we like the same things for sure. Which is about everything. Lol
@@Dr.G you nailed it. I haven’t met too many coins I haven’t liked LOL
Dr. G .
This was very enjoyable watching! Love it
Thanks, Matt. :)
Wow! Dr G your videos are awesome! Sub'd!!!! Those Barber's look Amazing! Makes me want to find some nice examples for myself!!!
Go get one buddy. They are soo cool. Thanks for the sub. Have a great 4th. :)
Just going through some of your older material I had never seen before and ran across that 65 Barbara Cameo!!! Beautiful coinage you got there good sir, all great coins to see. Thanks for the upload!

Thanks Robb I really like that coin as well. Thanks for the comment
Thanks Dr G on the new video on Peace dollars and other Coin. WOW gorgeous coins❗
Thanks David, always appreciate the comment.
Nice Dr G that standing library nice 1934 love that Barber wow 65 cam⭐👍
Yeah, best grade of the bunch. I was very happy with that cameo. :)
Please Come Back!!!!!!! I love the way your an average joe learning with us.
I’m going to keep posting the same thing on all your videos until your back lol. miss ya Dr. G
Thanks for your videos though, they are awesome! Btw I love the prices that you added in the video
Thanks my man. I'm definitely coming back. Looking at a new computer for vids today and also a different editing software. Lots to show, no gold mining this year. Canadians shut me down.😢 You're the best bro. 👍
Those bust coin are super tough to judge… I always think they are higher than they grade out
Amazingly beautiful graded coins! Such stunning exMples.of all and loved the price list! Thanksnfor sharing!
I'm always curious about what coins might be worth that I see on other videos so I thought I'd do the work and list them so people had an idea. It's a pain to check actual sold prices vs. just looking in the price guide, but often the price guide is way off. Thanks for the comment, appreciate it.
Fantastic video! I had fun guessing the grades. Hope you keep posting these, Dr G!
Will do Arctic Proxy, glad you enjoyed. Thanks for the comment.
Wow Gorgeous pieces! Great content
Thanks my friend 👍
I love watching your videos. Absolutely beautiful, high grade stuff.....I shoulda listened to mama and been a Dr...hahaha....so if ya ever need an adopted son or heir, Im available...hahaha....beautiful stuff Doc...stunning
Hahahah, thanks Jim. It's great fun. 👍👍
Enjoyed! Love hearing smiles :-)
Thanks my friend. :)
That was a Great video. I actually nailed the Peace Dollars. That's what made me watch. Lol. Glad you got your DCAM back and rightfully so. Oh, I would of gave that 2nd Peace Dollar a 64+👊
Awesome Monte. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment. 👍👍
That is a great strike on that 1834 quarter
Hahahahahahaha Never heard that before. Great comment. I have a lot of fun with these coins. I'm glad you enjoy the vids. 👍👍
Some of the most beautiful coins!
Thanks.
Once again, excellent video. Do you ever send in to NGC? Either way, keep up the excellent videos.
I am a member of NGC as well and have sent coins to them. Most of my stuff is PCGS though and to me, it just looks better to have a set, or most coins in a collection in the same looking holder. Thanks for watching Mark.
Very enjoyable, as always. Where do you find these treasures?
Thanks Frank, I get these from all over. Ebay, Heritage auctions, private collections. It's fun to look. Thanks for the comment my friend.
Thanks so much for your videos. They help me in the grading process.
Thanks Stephen. I'm glad they help. :)
i was soo happy you got the proof/cam on that barber:)) nice redemption on that franklin half, all around awesomeness!!
gmoneyyp90 thanks a lot buddy. Appreciate it.
Hope all is well. Can't wait for some new vids
you have some amazing coins. great info take care and HAPPY HUNTING.....
Thanks George. I love these little pieces of history. :)
Great videos Dr. G. What are you a doctorate degree in?
I'm a Kids dentist. Thanks for watching buddy.
Enjoyed the video Dr. Glad you got your CA on the Benji !! your efforts paid off , Sweet !
Great Show of your graded coins. Thanks. Out.
I appreciate it. 👍
Thanks bud.
@@Dr.G ty sir - my dad loves your trips to Alaska! Stay safe!
Awesome coins. Congrats on the good grades. I liked & subbed. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks buddy. I was happy with that cameo:)
Smoothed or not, that 1808 half is a glorious thing to behold.
I love it Matt. 👍😊
I thought that 1934 Peace dollar was a ms65, until you said something about the nose, then I thought ms64. I was right the 1st time. Nice coin sir.👍👍👍😃😎
Enjoying these videos.

That 1892 proof cameo was a great surprise:) thanks for watching John
Do you collect these or do you resell them, where do you find these beautiful coins
Thank you for showing some real great coins. I guessed most of them right too🤗🤗🤗🤗💖
Awesome. I’m glad you has some fun 😊
Dr. G sounds like Seinfeld's cousin right after he uncovers a good grade on a coin!
Hahah, believe it or not I've heard that before. 😲
Simply wonderful coins Dr G !!!!!
Thanks Mike, appreciate it buddy. Stay warm up there. :)
This just came across my feed so I watched it again. I must have watched this video 5 times now haha it’s a coin classic! I know it’s time consuming brother but please put out another video sometime
One good thing on RUclips now is that you can do a Short. They take no time to make , just show a coin and make a couple brief comments
I like the longer format much better but I don’t always have time to do those so I’ve been putting out a short here n there
Take care buddy!
Hey my man. Nice to hear from you. I've never done a short, but will look into it. Had some bad health problems for the last half year, and now feeling better but now have to catch up on unfinished business. I did buy a cool new powerful computer to make vids and I have loads of stuff to show. Thanks for the check up. 👍👍
Awesome coins . Makes me happy.
I appreciate it.
Awesome results! I really enjoy your vides. 👍
Thanks for the kind words. I was pretty happy with this submission. I really wasn't sure what to expect. I'm glad that 1808 was real though. :)
Where do you find these types of coins? Like the 20 cent piece? I don't usually see these. Nice group of coins. 👍
Thanks for the comments conrad. I buy from lots of sources, ebay, coin auctions, private sales.
you do realize they didn't make proofs every year, they didn't make proof half dollars until 1818..
plus it doesn't have mirrored fields
Yes Dr, G you have what is called a wizzed coin on your 1808
Whizzing is done to simulate mint luster.
Wow, thanks so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Have fun.
Great, I think my email is up in the info section. Better yet make a short video and show us all. :)
They net grade coins sometimes . Some coins are so old that they net grade them down a grade or two if they have been cleaned long ago and have re toned
I'm wondering how you break a coin out of its holder with out damaging it?
The 1950 Franklin looks cameo. I see this often with the grading companies. I suppose they are tougher on the Franklin's.
your 1918 is a great coin considering PCGS have a MS67 coin that is missing nearly half of the shield details and the whole right side of the denticals on the obverse and yet somehow its still a MS67.
I love that ms65 peace dollar. The one you thought was gonna be a 63. I like that toning on the back. So pretty.
Yeah, I'm pretty happy that now. lol Thanks for watching.
NIce Haul, keep submitting that 50 you`ll get it someday.
Hahahah, That 50 has proved it's point. lol. Buy the coin not the holder.... :) I'm going to trade it in for something else cool. That Hope diamond of the numismatic world can haunt someone else for a while....
WOW! Incredible coins!
Thanks for watching Jean-Max, I appreciate it.
Nice variety of coins. Thank you
You're welcome my friend. :)
@@Dr.G I also like the historical facts at start of episode. Some of your uploads are couple years old but the reveals are still fun.
Beautiful coins here all the time, I don't know where you buy this coins but this is nice and that's why i just subscribe to you channel my friend 👍
Hey, thanks a lot Erick, I appreciate it. 👍👍
G you're welcome 👍
I like the eBay prices with various grades, nice touch. Beautiful coins for your collection!
Thanks Warren. I figured people might like to know what the grade differences mean in actual retail prices. I appreciate the comment my friend.
Great video and some really great coins. You did well!
Thanks a lot my friend.
Good video appreciate the graphics/comments and the realistic values not the pcgs inflated estimates
Just discovered your videos. Good fun. "It's clean, it's good - no it's not clean..."
Hopefully a quick dip in acetone should get rid of that PVC
MaxShiraz hahaha that was kind of funny. I use the term clean for a coin with no problems. "It's a clean coin because it wasn't cleaned". Lol.
Another funny thing happened just as I was saying that the low battery note popped up on the camera screen and I wasn't sure if it was visible on the recording. It's crazy making these videos. Anyway I'll try the acetone and resubmit. Thanks for the comment
They all looked cleaned to me!
thankfully they aren't
Nice stuff, wow!
Yeah, that 1892 is super cool. Thanks bud.
@@Dr.G i have an entertaining, informative channel you maybe interested in.
So! WTF does PVC residue have to do with the grading?
DR G. WE ARE WAITG FOR YOU WE MISS YOU
Great coins Dr. G
I see your comments these days on others videos but sure wish you would start doing some new videos again.
GD
Yeah, I can watch vids when I have time at work but still no time to make new vids myself. I have lots to show and will be cranking out new vids as soon as I can come up for air. Thanks for checking in GD.👍👍
Cool video. I love the coins too.
Thanks Torsheim, It's a great hobby. :)
Could you do an «entire collection» video sometime?
Torsheim, I do plan on putting together a couple videos featuring some of my favorite pieces with some history and interesting facts. The problem with entire collection videos is that they usually move so fast over each piece that it's kind of mind numbing. I don't think the coins are given the attention they deserve. Another problem is that I'm a complete amateur at editing videos. It takes me ages to finish one, I can barely keep up with what I have coming from PCGS. LOL. But your idea is being taken seriously, and when I have the time I'll do something like that. Thanks for the comment.
Dr. G looking foreward to it :)
Great vid love watching these vids where did you get these coins from
Thanks my friend.
Thanks for your video information two thumbs up.. 😎😎😎😎😎
Hey thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
Saw your yukon gold video, and then i see you collect coins. Amazing. Subbed
Thanks for watching my friend.
good stuff, Doc
Hey Dr.
I really enjoy your videos. If I sent that 1934 peace dollar in, PCGS would of for sure graded it 64 lol. Anyway, congrats on your good return.
Hahaha I would have been happy with 63 lol. That's a beautiful coin though. :) Thanks for the nice comment.
Did you ever get the SLQ conserved and resub'd? What grade did it get if you did?
I did Louis, but I'm so behind with my videos the coin is still in the PCGS box unopened. I don't know how they actually graded it after I removed the PVC. I'll show it on a future video. I'm buried over here. LOL
I want to buy your MS64 1927 Peace Dollar, seriously.
Ha, I wish I had another just like it to sell you. Sorry my friend. Thanks for the offer though. :)
