About the pond. Many years ago, we visited a botanical garden that had 2 ponds next to each other. One was being maintained. The other was being left to nature. The one that was maintained was very nice with lots of wildlife. The one that wasn't was filling in gradually but surely over the years. It would eventually disappear. If nothing has been done to your pond in 35 years, you might consider yourselves lucky to still have a pond.

You need a dump trailer. One that can be towed with your truck or your tractor. With your skid steer and excavator a medium size dump trailer would complement you. Right away it would help you haul that sediment to a out of a way place for composting and storage.
I worked for a soil products company that sold to Home Depot. Does your local county agent do free soil testing? The muck is best composted as a blend amendment. There is a soil and mulch counsel that regulates bagged products. I would not try to bag it but sell it in bulk to a landscaper or commercial nursery. You would need a regular source to ensure getting a market share.
Here is what me and a friend of mine did when we mucked out his pond. The ditch that fed his pond. We went way above his pond and mucked out the ditch and put in big rock to try to slow the sediment from filling in the pond so quick
I just started the carnivore diet Aug 22nd. I do feel much better, I do have goals to meet but I haven't started seeing any results yet. Definitely giving it time. Best thing, I am never hungry or craving sweets and I'm a carbaholic LOL! Be sure to share your journey with us!
I started carnivore in February. Down 58 pounds. I feel like a new person! You will love it. Maybe you are doing ketovore. That is more where I started. This platform still gives you more ad time than all the other creators I watch for the same length videos. Good luck with your new eating strategy!
I watered my flowers with the water from a 10 gal aquarium. My goodnness did the flowers grow like crazy. I had so many compliments and questions abt fertilizer. Fish parts are good for ground and plants
The wife and I have been on the Carnivore diet for 120 days on the 14th of this month. I wasn’t much into it for the weight loss. However it is a plus. My wife’s A1C went from the middle 7’s to now in the middle 5’s. I’m happy you guys are trying this 🙏🏽
My grandfather in Long Creek, Alabama, had 1 1/2 acre pond drained. And added 3 more acres. It was 40 year old pond with 3-4 inches in muck. We used some on our crops. And we have recorded a record-breaking year in production. He eventually sold some to family and friends, and the results were the same for them as well. You're sitting on a gold mine. Trust me it a process, but it's well worth it.
There is a DIY soil testing kit where you send samples by mail and they sent you the results along with recommendations of how to improve it if necessary. It's cheap enough and will give you a solid idea of if the muck would make a good amendment. If it's decent and you decide not to go the sales route you can at least give it to Dusty to top dress the bison pastures, LOL. trade for bison meat for the carnivore meals LOL
Mr Daniel, you could take a truck load of the pond muck & dry it out to test to see if it would work in a garden, also you don't necessarily have to have a machine to bag it,do it the old fashion way to begin with, shovel it into the bags & tie the bag up with either string or wire, just a thought, may the Lord continue to bless you and your family.
Can i just say, I've thoroughly enjoyed this pond drain/clean out?! What an incredible eco system and natural treasure you will have when its all finished! I know many have said the muck can be marketed. With the issues of contaminated potting soil these days they could be on to something. But if its not worth your time and investment maybe you could just sell it off very cheep or get someone local to haul it off for free to do this kind of thing? Getting rid of it for free is a great deal as well. Thank you for doing what you do with excellence! 😊
Not an expert by any means. You remember where the water ways were. Your dad's gotta be loving you and your goals! Looking like time well spent! The difference between now and back when, your kids will have video. Maybe grand kids to great grand kids. They will be thankful for all of your hard work and memories of before. Don't stress about selling it by the bag or buying a bagger. Just sell it by the scoop. You have equipment. Utilize it. Move some sluge to an area it can dry. Smaller piles here an there. Then keep the dry dirt at a pickup or loading site. Somewhere some one bring a trailer, a truck or whatever they available to them. Sell it to them by the yard. Figure your skid steer bucket size. Probably a yard. Any who, just a thought with less moving parts. 😊
Been carnivore 2 plus years and I’m not diabetic anymore. I’m a I’m off of all diabetic medication. Blood pressure is back to normal. Have more energy have lost 70 pounds.
I love my Arms fishing shirts!! So soft and keeps the sun off your skin!!! I'm waiting for the hoodies this winter❤❤❤ I loved Luke's enthusiasm. He can help you make something of pond goop! Take a chance!!
My father in law lived on a small damned lake, he had a small flat boat that had a sickle mower and he cut seaweed , top dressed his garden rows then tilled it in in the fall. Man he could grow a great garden.
My late husband was a truck driver that hauled contaminated soil, they lined the dump with a heavy gauge plastic liner and transport to Emelle, AL. One of their drivers had a load that leaked on the interstate in Atlanta, the company was not happy….
Years ago we dug out some of our swamp. The dirt was called moral, we spread it on our fields (with our manure spreader) to add nutrient and soil. One of our neighbors dug a fishing pond and sold this soil to other neighbors to put on their fields.
Sir, you need to make a drainage ditch, right down the middle, or on a side of those ditches. That way the water will have somewhere to go versus sitting still and soaking the muck. I've done excavation for 15 plus years, and have built many a pond. Please get some drainage, or your pond will never dry to workable conditions. And wet conditions are going to be 3 times your cost.
Daniel, I had a beautiful pond at our previous home, only about 3/4 acre pond. Anyways, I purchased a 20’ windmill that also aerated our 11’ deep pond. And living 50 north of Syracuse NY, our winters gave us sub -20° temperatures and upwards of 225” of snow. Not one time did the water freeze over the air defuser! No solar power or electric necessary.
it's very easy to determine if your pond mud is good for plants. Just send a bag of it to an analytical lab or an university for analyses. They can tell you exactly what's in it and if it's any good. another thing... have you consider building an island in the middle of the pond? It would be awesome for fishing and camping.
You can rent screeners snd probably baggers. Just something to think about and farmers take.soul samples and send them out to get a breakdown of what they are lacking for there fields and they can add what they need in fertilizer for what they are planning to grow. So they could tell you what nutrients that pond soil has, so people know how much to add. You get samples from different areas of the pond to help you know what you have. The OSU Extension office should be able to help with soil samples. Maybe that’ll help you know if you’ve got a gold mine or nothing of value
That anerobic soil and decayed material is absolutely safe for a garden as a top dressing. Remember, your soil is an anerobic environment once you get down below about 4 inches deep as oxygen does not penetrate that deep into it.
@@lostpony4885 Yup, I have a batch brewing now. Microbiology is what my Ph.D. is in. With that I am able to transform dead lifeless dirt into fertile productive soil again.

Greetings Dan, May I suggest that you get a number of samples of your sludge & have them soil tested PLUS scrutinized by a lab to insure you are not going to face things like PCBs & other contaminants. I have no idea about the watershed that flows into your pond, but all it would take is one guy with a pickup hauling out and dumping a witch's brew of poisons & dumping it in one of your tributaries in the last 30+ years to turn your sludge into a massive lawsuit. Good luck, my friend; if anyone can turn this from an idle thought into a an active spin-off of Arms inc.! Question: is there any random plant life erupting in the oldest sludge you piled up?
I had the same thoughts that Luke had, as soon as you started cleaning the pond. You could take a soil sample, and have it tested, to see exactly what is in it. "When one door closes, a window opens". This could be a big opportunity.
I'm a 67 year old and lost 105 lbs & 72" in 15 months... feel like I'm in my 50's again...I live on a farm...my grandson says , " grandma I'm going to take your batteries out 😂"
Cream is mostly fat. It is considered good on a Carnivore diet. I have heavy cream and stevia in my coffee every morning. I lost 35 pounds in 6 months on Carnivore.
Hey Dan. Just a throught if you picked up a little submersable pump and some roll flat you might be able to pump a few of those puddles out to the creek. Im really enjoying this series on your pond.
Unless one has a steady (for years) supply of pond muck, buying equipment to process pond muck does not seem realistic. For a one time pond cleanout, selling in bulk makes more sense. Sumply fill up the customers pick up truck and charge them whatever you can get by with. You may not want random customers stopping by your place, randomly. In that case, just have it dumped here and there on your properties.
I've been trying to do the carnivore as well. My biggest problem is ice cream during the heat of summer. But when I stay strong my joints feel MUCH better! I have more energy.
There are many carnivore safe recipes online for ice cream. You don't need a machine but there are several. The 'Ninja Creami ' is the one I have. Commercial ice cream isn't fit to be eaten anymore sadly.
@@evelyncollins8069 My kitchen is a construction zone right now (another reason why carnivore is so great!). When it's finished I do plan on making my own.

The pond project is a perfect example of making a mess to clean a mess. Lol, as you took the muck out, it filled right back in immediately. Also, that muck has to stink, I can only imagine. It's coming along, though, but idk how you do it. My adhd needs to see more of a difference during projects, lol
I like Daniel's idea. essentially it's the same as manure. But at the same time I totally agree with caution. While it's still early and you're waiting to be able to empty the pound. It really wouldn't be a bad time to just try a quick small batch test. Do as Daniel says, mix a little bit with some dirt. drop some seeds and see what happens. There's really no harm in trying a small test and set your mind at ease. If nothing grows then no harm done. But if you've got like ten acres to spread the waste on to let it dry... it could still be an opportunity in the future. Another thought though is it could be used as Trade Leverage. Say with the pecans, "I'm got some fertilizer to trade for some pecans". You're a very levelheaded thinker, So I'm sure whatever you decide will be the right thing to do.
Hey Daniel I use to use pond dredging on my garden all the time I would put about a inch of dredging on my garden a d then till it in really good vegetables were bigger and healthier 😊
Love watching your adventures!! I have been a Carnivore for a year and a half and have never felt better and my blood work is Fantastic. When I started I had some health issues I went through cancer 8 years ago and was told cut out sugar and carbs as the sugar feeds cancer . Living on a cattle ranch and being 69 I needed to get fit I walk an average of 5 miles a day along with ranch work. Have never felt better... Dr Ken Berry on RUclips was a Great help .
To offset the cost of screening/bagging the muck, maybe you could find a local (or near local) business to collab with. Have them screen/bag it, at their cost, then add your profit margin on top. You could sell that at a premium. I wouldn't invest in a bagger, because one day, you'll run out of product!
That’s a really good idea to bag the dirt and a mud bath😂 I never would’ve thought of that. The pond is getting there it will be done as soon as you know it.
Hey Daniel, there's a young fellow in Alaska, but might have solved your screening problem already. It's a RUclipsr on "simple living Alaska that built his own screaming unit of 4 x 4 squares, but he can dip full scoops with his tractor and let it run down the screen and the sticks and stones that will not go through the screen, give a very good soil for filling his raised bed garden this year. For a screaming mechanism, you could easily adapt this at minimal cost for your pond. Bottom soil. Just go back to some of his older videos from this year to the last spring, and he shows how he made it and how it sets then how he puts the soil through the screen. Of course you could always use smaller screaming than what he used or do multiples in any way you wanna make them. Check it out you might find a used bag machine. It would cost a lot less than $40,000. Never know until you try. Also, the worst they can do is say no!! I wish you well in this endeavor
I totally agree with Luke. You guys are onto something really special here. I definitely understand the hesitation. Sounds to me as an amateur gardener that you could find a BIG market. Please keep up the “Pond” videos. I Absolutely love Them! ❤
I had suggested you call around to landscape companies and see if any would be interested in buying it from you to sell themselves. They already have all the proper equipment on hand to screen it and bag it. Some may just pile it up and let it break down for the rest of the year and sell it by the yard next spring. Personally, if i did not go that way i would bring it and pile it in small piles onto the fields where you are clearing the trees out and spread it with the rake and let it sit thru the winter, so it breaks down and feeds the soil. Afterall you are looking to get grass back into the pastures and this is a free fertilizer. Next spring the muck will be broken down enough to be able to spread the grass seed and not burn the roots when it starts growing. Those would be the 2 best choices. Btw i know a farmer who breeds cows, huge herd. He rakes all the manure out of his pastures and piles it up to the side of his yard and every month a landscape company comes to collect the pile. Its extra income coming in for the farm and keeps the stench from the cow poo way down. I know as i lived next to his farm for 10 years and never smelled the cows like the others farther from my house that i had to drive by and gagged every time. 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮
LOL, Where can you find some high protein Bison meat? The carnivore diet worked great for me. My blood work is the best in 30 years. Nice to see you keeping the Sulphur post office going.
You can take the dirt in and get tests runh on the dried up muck and see what the soil values are and that would tell you if it would make a good planting materiel.
I agree with Luke. Send off a sample to get tested to find out how good or bad it is. When you find out how good it is find a field & spread some out to dry. After it dries it should be simple to screen. Start out with small bags that you can shovel the muck into & do a test market on your merch website.

When we clean out the hole below our spring nothing grew on the pile of dirt for a couple of years.
You can get a soil sample bag from your local state extension service! I used to work there!
My dad always put the muck from his garden fish pond on his flower beds, and his plants did really well.
maybe you can get a soil test done on it so see if it is even worth it all. i love your videos and this pond project is so interesting.
Not an expert by any means. You remember where the water ways were. Your dad's gotta be loving you and your goals! Looking like time well spent! The difference between now and back when, your kids will have video. Maybe grand kids to great grand kids. They will be thankful for all of your hard work and memories of before. Love all of your content, please keep us posted.
I love what you do for the environment your pond look amazing when it’s done I can’t wait keep up the good work your family is inspiring
The good Lord has clearly been guiding you and Dejay. It is actually a JOY to watch your lives transform over the past years. I personally only found your channels a few months ago, but I have been watching tons of your older videos. It's awesome to literally WATCH your children grow up. I just wanted to comment that Jesus truly is using your RUclips to SHOW a lost generation how He is still the same PROVIDER as the Bible times accounts. Same miracle working God. Protecting His children, guiding them, rewarding them for putting His Name out there!!! GOD BLESS ARMS FAMILY yesterday, today, and forever more. In the Mighty Name of OUR Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen. ❤
I love y’all guys I was the one that said Houston needs to get a bass boat and start tournaments and yall started 1 month later
Daniel love and enjoy your videos. Working on the homestead and the pond. May the lord bless and protect you working on the pond
Daniel , I am retired from Horticulture. I fully agree with Luke. Personally , I'd pray about it. You'll get your direction.
Definitely Pray on it
Don't stress about selling it by the bag or buying a bagger. 😊
Great suggestion!
Been carnivore 2 plus years and I’m not diabetic anymore. I’m a I’m off of all diabetic medication. Blood pressure is back to normal. Have more energy have lost 70 pounds.
Good job! Best wishes!
Jo
My grandson did it and he did say "he feels the best he has for a few years but he is still young"
Been watching the pond videos sense day one, can’t wait to see what it looks like when finished.
Or maybe pump out the water?
How you explain things is amazing!
❤ Would you be able to mix that mud like dirt with some regular dirt and some rocks and spread that on the bottom of the pond? Just wondering......😊
"We've got you covered" is a great line. You should be in marketing.
I like that, too.
Praying for wisdom as you prayerfully think it through .
I've been carnivore for a year and half. Love it. Lost weight and my fibromyalgia is gone. Still doing it too and will.
I just love watching you guys!! I feel like your family!!!
My dad use to put fish guts in the garden beds before planting seeds. We had large tasty fruits and vegetables.
I am from Texas and I love your videos bless you and your family you are my favorite RUclips and keep it up
Have you seen Demolition Ranch
Yes
It would be interesting to see what a lab analysis of the pond waste would show.
That anerobic soil and decayed material is absolutely safe for a garden as a top dressing. Remember, your soil is an anerobic environment once you get down below about 4 inches deep as oxygen does not penetrate that deep into it.
Anaerobic ferments are all the rage it seems.
@@lostpony4885 Yup, I have a batch brewing now. Microbiology is what my Ph.D. is in. With that I am able to transform dead lifeless dirt into fertile productive soil again.
Cracked me up!!!! Daniel enjoy you so much!! Old church lady here!!
Dropping videos earlier in the evening, Daniel? I like this format very much. New pond is shaping up, takes time to see the potential for the future generations. Praying y'all had a great day
Greetings Dan,
May I suggest that you get a number of samples of your sludge & have them soil tested PLUS scrutinized by a lab to insure you are not going to face things like PCBs & other contaminants.
Hi Daniel this is brilliant thanks for having me along love y'all God bless y'all
I had the same thoughts that Luke had, as soon as you started cleaning the pond. You could take a soil sample, and have it tested, to see exactly what is in it. "When one door closes, a window opens". This could be a big opportunity.
Heavy cream is Carnivore. I've lost 60 lbs, off all meds. 61 year old good luck ✌️
I'm a 67 year old and lost 105 lbs & 72" in 15 months... feel like I'm in my 50's again...I live on a farm...my grandson says , " grandma I'm going to take your batteries out 😂"
What about heavy cream? I guess I'm lost on this!!😂😂😂
Cream is mostly fat. It is considered good on a Carnivore diet. I have heavy cream and stevia in my coffee every morning. I lost 35 pounds in 6 months on Carnivore.

Daniel, God bless you and your family. You and DeJay rock it.❤
Hello from . Ohio . Love your Videos. Informative. Bless you and your family.. Doreen 😊
In that case, just have it dumped here and there on your properties.
luv it when you take a little time and have a sit down talk
I've been trying to do the carnivore as well. My biggest problem is ice cream during the heat of summer. But when I stay strong my joints feel MUCH better! I have more energy.
It's OK if you need ice cream a time or 2 but rarely. Been on it for 4 months and its been easy
There are many carnivore safe recipes online for ice cream. You don't need a machine but there are several. The 'Ninja Creami ' is the one I have. Commercial ice cream isn't fit to be eaten anymore sadly.
@@Rvbiker18 That is the beauty of Carnivore, you indulge a little and get back on track. It's easy!
@@evelyncollins8069 My kitchen is a construction zone right now (another reason why carnivore is so great!). When it's finished I do plan on making my own.
For a start you can get a sample analysed in an agriculture lab and if it is usefull as a fertiliser you could rent a bagging machine…
Love this RUclips channel I don’t miss a single video they just make me fell good
Build a small cabin on the edge of the new pond, hang old lures and maybe a limb.😊
🙂God bless you and your family. Can Hardley wait to see the pond when it is finished.
When you go to expand. You could clear around and leave a section to have, create a small island in your pond
We have a GSP pretty much like Kelcie so I ordered a tee shirt from you guys that has her picture on the front. My wife is excited about getting it. Really enjoy your family show. Reminds me of Duck Dynasty which was one of my favorites and his show Unashamed still is.
This idea is an absolute win
Sell buy pick-up load or dump truck load...
45,000 dollars is alot of money to invest in a one time thing,..
Pray about it & see what direction God leads you in! I am so glad you have decided to share conversations like this & you really are an encouragement to me. I enjoy watching your videos, not only because you make great content & are also in OK, but you also have an amazing life story.
I’ve been doing Carnivore for most of the year. Been great! And I still use heavy cream in my coffee. Have got to the point I look forward to it!
Seven Sons Farm, Indiana, they ship, have nice website. Pure natural farm raised meat.
@@rpsp5154 His sister and brother in law sell bison meat locally.
Good luck with your adventure. I can only imagine how much that mud smells! Passing on the mud bath! lol
Why not pump out the holes? That's a lot faster than evaporation, and would allow additional water to seep out of the surrounding ooze quicker.
Hi Daniel. Glad the merch launch went well and had lots of orders. Sounds lots of positives with the pond dirt. Having the contacts and know how to help you. Have a great day take care and God bless 🙏💕

💡what a wonderful Idea ❤🙏🫶
It would be good I am sure - with fish still in some areas the plants would grow. Get Richie to try the mud bath first - heck maybe he can find a dead fish. Lol, Daniel ppl. lining up for a chance at Daniels pond. The look from Dejay was priceless. That is like Keto it's changing your eating to the better veggies with best fats and better meat. I can't use that soap - they says its good for your skin. Add enough to your soil you help. I took my small fish tanks used on my plants. He is so right all the poo - dead fish. We used the fish inners/ heads in our garden. Yes, I wonders who else wants a bigger pond - will do the same. That muck is gold. Stay safe & take care of you all. Thanks for sharing, eh :))
