Very good indeed! Remember, many years ago, Howard Goodall assembled a group of USA music major students and played the same piece of music, first on electronic organ, then on the real thing. Blindfolded, with their backs turned, the results were inconclusive as there was little difference between the two and almost impossible to tell which was which. In the intervening 20-odd years, virtual organ quality has improved out of sight, making the difference between the two even less clear-cut.:-)
We do in fact have demos for each individual volume. Please see our website and click on the instruments, the Listen tab has demos for volume 1,2 and 3 for the Bovenkerk Hinsz and the Salisbury Cathedral Willis.
@zxbryc I don't know if you like this or not. Hauptwerk is the best program for replicating the sound of a pipe organ. Samplers just would not be able to do it. Hauptwerk can be configured so that each pipe can be adjusted for pitch, position, how sensitive it is to the wind pressure fluctuations and to tremulant. The more pipes that are sounding, the more they "interfere" with each other. No sampler or ready made organ can do all that, and updates from Hauptwerk mean it can only get better.
I love this sound. As a musician there is a certain "thinness" to the overall sound. The richness of actual pipes is much richer. I will probably be maligned but I still hear a certain lacking in the original sound.
Record on cd and sell, no stupid ears could tell, it´s the original or not. sometimes people love to speech out stupid comments, based on their own frustration. This Cavaillé-Coll sound perfect. If you wat to play at home, take out the rugs and curtains of the hall and use bid speakers to simulate the church ambience, or go to sell popcorns on the streets.
J'ais essayer ,du-dur de faire la différence ,entre le réelle que je connais ,pour avoir déjà "toucher " et ce logiciel avec ses boucles de sons, tuyaux par tuyaux ! Super! il me manque chez moi que la "Cathédrale"!
yes! First of all, the smaller Saint Eucaire in Metz by milan digital And then some more samples by others (sonusparadisi: Caen and st. Omer; organartmedia: Mainz and Aix-en-Provence; free: Composite Cavaillé Coll and Lorenzo Bonoldi's composite samples)
They are not but if you want to do pedal parts without a pedalboard I suggest recording a file with the hand parts and THEN playing the pedal part over that.
ANy other thing: On Milan organs we have vol. 1, 2, 3... and have NO demos of each one.... not a easy way to choose, since is not so cheap (no question, it worth it...)
Not a bad Carillon Sortie at all. It was the first selection I heard as a kid where I wanted to know more about how it was created. Then Mona would play it in church and all my family was bailing for the car to get to The Sizzler to beat the Methodists.
That's because hauptwerk is ancient and uses old technology and fundamentally fails to respect how a real organ works. It's how somebody thinks audio and an organ works. It's overpriced half finished rubbish.
And it doesn't even have convolution reverb or proper surround sound as well as being dog slow. Do yourselves a favour and look at a much cheaper and much more advanced alternative Facebook.com/organwerxdigitalorgan however be warned they don't support mac as the mac simply isn't up to the job or supports the latest parallels processing techniques.
So many digitized organs have a mediocre ensemble effect at best, but usually just a horrible clashing of notes ( whatever that is called). This piece sounds very rich and realistic through my headphones. The old adage of garbage in garbage out is never more applicable than in organ rendering. If folks expect youtube to capture every subtle nuance of a pipe organ as sampled digitally then they will most assuredly be disappointed. I'm just amazed it sounds this good through headphones.Speakers?
Mark: I'm with you. It is a great sound but there is a "thinness" of the sound production. It is as though the creator has never really heard the thundering sound of a real pipe organ. I'm not condemming the virtual organ, I'm just questioning the validity of such an "authentic" sound.
I would say that it's not as if the creator has not heard a 'real' Cavaillé-Coll. In the world of recordings, there are good and bad. Would one judge an organ by a single CD? Of course not....
Organwerx is a not for profit product. That means unlike the horrifically overpriced and underperforming hauptwerk the proceeds go straight back to supporting organ restoration and maintenance. So not only is it superior but it actually gives something back. Hauptwerk does NOT do this. They keep all of their exorbitant profits. So you when you are in a position to say you have been equally altruistic and given something back maybe you could be in a better place to comment and criticise a project you know nothing about. This software was written to address all of the bad things about hauptwerk and the fact that they just run off with the cash was right at the top of our list. We believe the only way to be able to enjoy these instruments in future generations is to financially support them. I have a very successful software development consultancy company so don't need to earn from this. That is why almost every penny save for some really small expenses goes directly back to support the organ(s). Yes people do lie on the internet about their products but I see no reason to do this as for those whom have tried it it speaks for itself.. The problem is, a lot of people have spent thousands with hw and now feel they have to justify their investment and are often hostile because they don't want to admit to themselves that they could have something much cheaper and in a different league in terms of quality and sound. So they then rubbish it. It won't be an issue for either of you two fake characters though as I will track you down and ensure you are on our banned list. That's the best thing. We don't need to sell to just anybody and people who have in particular been unpleasant to others online won't be able to obtain a copy at any price.....as a couple of people have found recently when they made enquiries. Our hard work will only go to genuine enthusiasts and musicians. We simply won't deal with trolls or people who if they can't be kind to others are unable to hold their silence. Unlike hw we don't charge astronomical sums for our organs either. They are priced to be accessible to all and not just a few. This upsets some people as they believe the organ should be an exclusive instrument...but that is their problem to get over not ours . I cannot see anybody paying thousands for hw and it doesn't do half of what ours does especially. Ask hw where is their convolution reverb that they still haven't delivered years after promising it. Ask them.why they don't do 5.1 surround. Ask them in fact why you have to buy all sorts of add ons and hardware to make their system work??? A so them why is it so memory cpu and resources hungry when it doesn't need to be? Ask them why does their software run like a dog and has s really poor latency. Ask them why do they not give regular updates and constantly strive to meet their users demands ? In fact ask them why they refuse to respond to any of their users requests for features And in fact what if any development work have they done that isnt related merely to encryption and copy protection and something the end user may benefit from.....If they can answer without spinning marketing rubbish or just plain lies then I'll be impressed. Like I said our software isn't really intended for people like you so my advice is wallow in your own ignorance as it's a safer place to be. For the rest of us who are prepared to accept change and try new things out they will quickly learn just how many things our stuff does that he can only dream of. In common with hundreds of other people I believe he is a rip off designed to the bare minimum to extract the maximum cash and then giving none of it back. I know of one famous organ they have sampled whom years later haven't seen a penny from hw. You guys can suit yourselves. But there is now a choice for those who aren't prepared to put up with something that isn't really fit for purpose.
Mr. McCavery, it would be very nice if you would split such a long statement into paragraphs which would make for much easier reading. Nevertheless I find it very interesting.
Patrick Diviney apologies for that. I'm a bit tired of keyboard warriors who feel they are always right and just because they have spent a lot of money on something second rate they have to defend their purchase unjustifiably. They can't accept time has moved on and there may be something vastly superior available. Instead they just slag it off having never experienced the software or indeed listened to it fairly. They seem happy to "judge" something based on mobile phone recordings as opposed to this professionally modified recording which huge efforts were expended to produce and make sound better than it actually is. It doesn't bother me one bit. Those who have bothered to try what I'm doing think it's vastly superior. 100% have stopped using hw. I'm sorry but that's pretty good stats. Especially as some of them were initially quite hostile but now are converted. And it's a fraction of the cost. So you can all suit yourself. What I will say is keyboard warrior need not apply. This is for genuine organ enthusiasts only. I'm not interested in supplying software to narrow minded planks. They can stick with inferior and their own ignorance.
Richard, One more thing. What is the price for your software? I find it exciting that someday I might be able to have a compact organ or even just keyboards placed atop each other and produce the sounds of actual pipe organs of history. Hopefully before I'm ready for the Soldier's Home in Orting. Being 65 now I'd better get on the stick.
Patrick Diviney our aim is to fund organ restoration projects so we will be working on a donationware basis. There will be a minimum donation but it's likely to cost 10x less than hatewerk. We are not here to rip off the organ world or line our own pockets but instead to fund restoration and youth education. Hatewerk have pocketed the lot of their outrageous costs and given nothing back. In fact some would argue they have hastened the demise of the organ world. This is why we intend to stop them in their tracks. They are damaging the organ world but we intend to put a stop to this rip off culture of exclusivity. Don't be fooled. Low cost does not mean low quality. We just want to take the market away from hatewerk altogether as they do nothing positive other then line their own pockets. I wouldnt mind if it wss actually fit for purpose. Half a product and not a good one.
This actually made me weep for joy - incredible wizardry!
Magnifique restitution de cet orgue Cavaiillé-Coll que je connais en réalité Bravo

Real great sampleset!! But also I must say the development of VPO / Digital Organ over the last years is great too 😊👍👌
Astounding! Thanks!

Great Video, thank you. I also love the Hauptwerk Virtual systems.
great sound!

Very impressive!
This is so cool.

Is it easy like Miditzer for downloading?? Or it´s necessary to be an organist for playing??

@@stephlalu825 Now Piotr Grabowski has added one recently: Cavaille Coll (Nancy)
that sounds amazing! I was going to ask, are pedal boards necessary to use hauptwerks organs at all?
They are not but if you want to do pedal parts without a pedalboard I suggest recording a file with the hand parts and THEN playing the pedal part over that.
How ist the name of this organ piece?
dakm1986 Henri Mulets Carillon Sortie
ANy other thing: On Milan organs we have vol. 1, 2, 3... and have NO demos of each one.... not a easy way to choose, since is not so cheap (no question, it worth it...)
Forgive my ignorance, what is the name of this piece?
Nathaniel Stich Carillon-Sortie by Henri Mulet.
powered by usb keyboard (instrument not typing)?
Yes!
Not a bad Carillon Sortie at all. It was the first selection I heard as a kid where I wanted to know more about how it was created. Then Mona would play it in church and all my family was bailing for the car to get to The Sizzler to beat the Methodists.
Ottimo
I only wished my Mac had a more sensible CPU, and more RAM! It can barely handle even the free version of Hauptwerk under typical conditions. >:-(

Who is reputed to have said that bad organists have one foot on the swell pedal and one foot in the grave? lol

Great sound, but please play legato when not phrasing. I think it would sound even better
Seems little bit of a Father willis organ !
c'est marrant ......!
Calling it a "virtual" organ doesn't change the fact that it isn't a real organ. And yes, I expect to be condemned for this view.
You are a virtual Mark Sikkila. I cannot see, touch, hear you. You should say this. You will never be real online. You are virtual :)
Mark: I'm with you. It is a great sound but there is a "thinness" of the sound production. It is as though the creator has never really heard the thundering sound of a real pipe organ. I'm not condemming the virtual organ, I'm just questioning the validity of such an "authentic" sound.

The keys are in a desperate need to cleaned! So gross. Some soap and water and a rag would do wonders. Also wash one’s hands before playing and after!
