    Looks all good! Ours is doing great as well. Been starting up on the first pull each time. The auger belt replacement definitely made plenty of improvements. That being said, didn't replace it yet, but I also bought a new drive belt for the wheels. I'm figuring that if the auger belt had those little cracks, the wheel belt probably has some too, and that belt runs all the time as well.

      Good. Great to have the parts on hand for a quick fix. That's why I'm keeping the other one, I got a whole machine on hand. Especially since no one will work on my stuff except me, as we found out with the lawnmower.
      I still find it interesting how when the auger is engaged, it makes the engine "bark". I get that there's quite a bit of metal to get moving, but it's a fairly decently sized engine. Nothing will beat that time in that storm we had, I forget the year, but this thing was still pretty new at the time. It was a real lot of heavy, wet snow, and there I am plowing through it. I guarantee that thing was tugging heavily on the throttle, but it held it's own. It didn't really bog down, but it certainly let you know it was in labor.

    Very nice startup! Now that you're prepared, you won't have to struggle backing THE BIX SIX in the driveway for 6 minutes, and change.
    I've got a video clip of the Honda mini tiller starting up soon. Not too big of a struggle this year.

    • @jaykay18
      @jaykay18  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah, and THE BIG SIX is 2 wheel drive also! Only every once in a great while do I not back it in correctly, and that's done solely with these really cool shiny things on the outside of the car. Fac-tree!
      Nice, I look forward to that video.

      @@jaykay18 Oh yes, the cool shiny things! A lot of folks don't use that kine! Also, not used often are the light up amber blinky things. I'm pretty sure those are factree as well!

      @@dynatrak Yes, they are. But people are lazy, they rarely, if ever, check the engine oil, when would they ever get around to checking the blinker fluid? That's the problem, they're always low on it!

    Nice to see that this thing started up without too much difficulty. 5:42 No more air compressor for you! made in China! What did you end up doing with the 26 inch model that you got for review? I usually fire mine up in October just in case we get a major snowstorm in the coming months. It usually starts within two or three pulls. Unless of course I decide to hook up the starter motor. Same with my 1985 1800 rpm homelite 4000 watt generator. that was actually a guift from the firehouse years ago when my great uncle was still active. I have one of those generators that I showed you at the firehouse a couple of years ago upstairs. That thing is never given a problem as long as I've ran it.

    • @jaykay18
      @jaykay18  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, it ran great and is ready to go. The air compressor, I guess the hose got loose on and it couldn't build pressure. I tightened it up and it works now. Slow. But it's a tiny handhld thing, how much air can it push?
      Still have the 26 inch model, it's in the garage. I'm going to keep it and not sell it, I went over that in the video. Just in case. That way if this one dies or has a problem, I have one.

    Got enough snow here for the whole winter season days ago.
    I don’t ever want to see that amount all at once or in the same week or month!
    Luckily we lost power for less then a minute through all the wind gusts.
    Generator didn’t want to start. Once the temperature gets back in the 20s and 30s I will figure it out.

    • @jaykay18

      We got about an inch and a half, with another inch and a half on Friday. We have definitely gotten walloped with snow plenty of times before, so I know exactly what you mean.
      If I lost power for an hour I wouldn't bother with the generator. Only for the long haul would I consider it. I have some of those "battery boxes" that let you plug 120 volt items into. I can run my boiler off one of those for a while, haven't needed to put it into service, so at least we'd have heat. If that fails, i can run an inverter off the car battery for a while, boiler uses about 80 watts with both circulators running, so I'm good for some time. If I need to keep the fridge or chest freezer running, that's when I'd break out the generator. Chances are quite good that won't be happening for some time, as a few years ago, they redid many of the utility poles and wires around here. I don't get flickering lights or brownouts or anything. The Harbor Freight generator, I bought that 11 years ago. Haven't run it in 3 or 4 years, so this spring I'll need to take it out and give it a run. Just in case, but that case may not come up for a long time to come.

      @@jaykay18 All my batteries were done for before the storm hit. One I got back in the 2009 winter season, and the 2 others were from a power scooter which had 2013 written on one of them. I got them in 2015 if I remember right.
      The generator I was trying to get it started and the power dropped at that very time, luckily it came back on very shortly, with no other blips. I think it has old gas in and possibly the oil sensor went bad.
      I am curious how those cheapy snow blowers would hold up over here, as the city doesn't do snow very smart.
      My space heater in the basement seems like some thing isn't quite right about it. I could bring that heater in that I moved out to the patio if I needed to.
      If I had to keep things cold I would throw some snow in a cooler if I didn't have ice packs.

    • @jaykay18
      @jaykay18  6 месяцев назад

      @@240Volts Those batteries are 11 years old or older. No way they're worth anything more than a doorstop at this point.
      We all find ways to get by in the event of no power. Did it for 9 days after Hurricane Sandy, and I didn't have a generator, batteries, or anything. Only thing I had was an inverter for the car and I could run an extension cord inside for very small stuff, used sparingly, so I wouldn't kill the car battery.

    Turn that thing off, the exhaust is coming in through the windows and the noise is deafening. Oh wait, don't have to deal with that this year. I haven't checked the oil in my snowblower. I know it needs a belt but still does the job. haven't started it this season yet. Still early. I didn't use it for that snowstorm in the dash cam video as that snow was so water logged the machine would clog instantly. The troy built lawnmower actually says don't change, Just check and add so it must be designed to burn oil over time.

      Wif and I constantly say to each other how nice it is to have the witch gone next door. Even the new people have told me stories about them, the little they saw them, looking at the house, and at closing.
      We had snow yesterday, totaled about an inch and a half. Too little for the snowblower to bother with. Then, it rained, and melted most of it away. Then, whatever was left, froze solid as it's 22 degrees out now. Friday we're getting another inch and a half, hopefully I can play the same game. From then on, Accuweather says that any snow event clear through March will be less than 1 inch. We'll see if it is true. If so, I won't even need to use it.
      A lot of the new stuff says "check and add". All engines burn a little oil, it's inherent in the technology. That's why you always see me check the oil before starting the small equipment, but I do that off camera for just a random mow when it needs it. I can say that my mower will definitely burn more oil when it's under labor doing really tall grass. I've been doing the "check and add" technique on it since I got it.

    I'm sitting here at 7 PM watching you start your snowblower when I actually should be out starting mine and cleaning 2.5 - 3" of snow and sleet off my driveway. I have my boots on so I'm halfway there. It's 24 degrees out so I'm not really wanting to go out but it's either now or at 5AM and it will probably be colder then.
    Of those 8 seasons I know of at least one where you got it running then never used it. How many seasons have you had to actually use it?

    • @jaykay18
      @jaykay18  6 месяцев назад

      We got about an inch and a half between yesterday and today. The machine is too cumbersome to use in that little snow. So I didn't use it. Today, after the snow, it rained, and that melted a lot of it. I had all intentions of going out there with the shovel and clearing stuff, but there was no need. We're getting about 2 more inches this weekend. Then, I'll think about it. See how it goes.
      Last year there was no appreciable snow to use it with. I think I used it at least once every other season. The worst was back early on, I forget exactly when, when we had "Storm Jonas". I had a video of that, using it. Had to be 2015 or 2016.

    Engine sound is really so funny! This brand is chinese - machine, for sure, won't last long . Mine's a 1971 Ford Snowking 726 , Tecumseh engine, just starting 2 days ago with first try and ran strongly like a tank .

    • @jaykay18
      @jaykay18  6 месяцев назад +1

      For a modern-made machine, 9 years is really pretty good. The engine runs as well as it did when it was brand new. This machine will be around for many years to come. Doesn't compare to yours at all, yours is in a completely different league being made in 71.
