Two of the hottest, most talented men in my lifetime.
What about your best bud LEX
One thousand percent.
And the Cornell family, a number of his siblings are musicians
God yeah!!! ❤❤❤❤
It's like looking at chris eventhough it's his daughter
Don't you mean even flow its his daughter?
Eddie Vedder is such a fucking awesome dude wish more artists were like him
The mural of Chris, Kurt and Layne is beautiful and so were they. They are Greatly Missed but Never Forgotten. R.I.P
NYC out🤘
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's still stuck in the 90s. Can't shake it.
Everyone was more real, and made real music I'll never kick it.lol
The music was amazing, makes me feel better/happy so when I feel stuck in it, I know I'm crazy blessed to have the connection 👍♥️
@@grose2272 right best drugs best friends best music.
I hate tha fact that I wasn't in my 20s during the grunge era.
Why would anyone want to leave the grunge era behind??? The music was sooo much better, guys were hotter and knew how to dress and rock a pair of Doc's! The music these days is faceless and emotionless, the guys are so prettied up it's impossible to tell if they're male or female!!
Just a better time, more real ✌🔥💕
Chris's daughter is a female version of him. She's so pretty. I remember listening to stories of my Father as well. I even remember feeling a little jealous that they got to know my Father more than I had the chance. I was only 12 years old when he died after coming home from work, on our livingroom floor. In a way though it was also a warm feeling to knowing he was loved by so many. Til we all meet again...NYC out🤘
Who was your Father?
Lane helped me kick the needle back in the 90's. Eddie and Chris helped me cope and scream though my recovery. Kurt helped me rebel against those of the norm. Because I have always been far from it. All but one and me are left. Not good odds. But I still consider myself in excellent company. Those who knew what I feel every day.
Congratulations with your sobriety brother. Keep up the excellent work my friend. You'll NEVER regret it. You are meant and deserve to have a fulfilling life. NYC out🤘
@@forevermetal2464 Thank you. Tonight. I sometime wish... But yet I still breath through the tears.
Stay strong x

I especially like the photo of all 3 children together at the end of your video!
I think Chris would really love all of his children to have love and respect for each other and to be close to one another. I sure hope that they can do that and not fall victim to a few 'grown up's" propaganda agenda to keep them all unequal and separated. I hope their father's influence will over ride all of the bullshit exploitation they are trying to pull. You know Chris was not like that, people?
Chris was so talented, gorgeous, honest, funny, adventurous, smart, kind, generous. I could go on. He was truly my favorite of all grunge singers and then Scott Weiland. I miss them both a lot.
I agree. Scott was amazing also, his solo work was really awesome .
I still can’t believe he’s gone. My generation’s Lennon.
Wasnt that Kurt?
@@nightsblood No.
@@sticksman1979 I’m pretty sure people say that Cobain is the Lennon of the 90’s/grunge. But Hey, you still have 3 other Beatles, he can be your generations McCartney
@@nightsblood Deal.
Hell of a lot better than Lennon
The “grunge era” was my era and I loved it all so much. I went to see Pearl Jam with my Cuz (RIP) several times. One being the LA sports Arena in 91 with Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
@@AndreasIreland nope you’re wrong. Look it up
Scott Weiland should be included in this.
It’s hard too believe that there gone..even now Staley Kurt and Chris....I’m so grateful that Eddie is still with us
Chris looked so happy back then he really enjoyed life😢
I think that to say Chris and Eddie were two dudes who came up together around the same time when the whole "grunge" thing started taking off doesn't quite tell the whole story.
When Pearl Jam launched, Eddie was a total unknown, some guy just up from Southern California who was invited to front a new band partially cobbled together from the remnants of another band (Mother Love Bone) that more or less exploded on the launch pad. Eddie was a stranger in a strange land, didn't know anything about Seattle, about the music scene, who was who, what was what, et al. For that matter, I don't think Eddie had much in the way of any real performing experience beyond knocking around with a couple of short-lived SoCali "garage band"-type groups (though I might be wrong about that).
Though you'd likely not guess from watching Pearl Jam perform, Eddie was a guy with a propensity for crippling shyness, and was horribly self-conscious about how he was perceived, and how those perceptions might come back on the rest of band. He was hardly the archetypal swaggering, bad-ass, uber-confident rock singer.
Chris Cornell, on the other hand, was a Seattle veteran who was fronting an established band that was rapidly growing in popularity. As was his nature, Chris sort of took Eddie under his wing, introduced him around, and even intro'd Pearl Jam at a couple of appearances. Basically, Chris not only got his name out, but did so in a way that more or less translated as "I know this guy, he's alright, he's legit, etc etc."
Chris Cornell was such a well-known and well-respected musician that simply putting his seal of approval, more or less, on Eddie specifically and Pearl Jam as a whole was all it took for a lot of local music fans to warm up to them. I think it logically follows that being embraced by audiences as positively, and in such a relatively rapid fashion informed on the band's performances.
From there...well, both camps went on their merry way into becoming two of the most iconic, seminal bands of the last 30+ years.
Chris and Eddie had some real history between them.
Damn, I miss soundgarden so much.
Ikr
I wonder how many Rock music fans are still out there. And by that I mean people able to enjoy music not heavily edited and quantized with a computer.
I lost my love for the Metal scene when they all started sounding like machines / robots. Everyone uses triggers - no natural tones, no real energy exuded to create the sound. Same for the guitarists - no signature tones / licks and vocals. Overtly processed and the methods are celebrated. It's rather depressing.
@@Guppusmaximus Exactly. There's always been a tendency within Metal to aim for perfection but it's getting worse. I'd agree with Vedder on the fact that what these Seatle band had most in common was that they were raw and authentic, in a word they had soul.
@@ozymandias2726 I think there was more of a tendency to try and capture accurate performance sound and achieve great production that eventually got confused with perfection. The side-effect of the advent of digital recording technology was the ability to cheat the process. However, the "Grunge" scene was overloaded with bands that sucked and probably would've resorted to the same tactics. I think people still confuse the glam rock scene that used all the available studio magic with the actual late 80s Metal scene. Within in that inaccurate frame of mind, the Seattle bands were more raw & authentic. But, if you take Nirvana and compare them to a band like Ironchrist, you'll see that they didn't innovate / change anything except for those listeners that relied on radio & tv for their musical taste. Especially if you compare the big "Grunge" acts in the early 90s with bands like Dream Theater,Mr. Bungle,Grave, Atheist, Cynic, Devastation, etc. Those mainstream acts don't hold a candle in terms of musicianship or musical vision, imho.
Oh we are here. Not outspoken..... just love the music
@@Guppusmaximus Sure Nirvana share the same Punk/Metal aesthetic with Ironchrist but Cobain was a much better songwritter, in a Bob Dylan way. Most of his songs stand on their own by that I mean you can play them with an acoustic guitar. And they also cary a wide range of emotions. As far as comparing Dream Theater or Mr. Bungle to any of these grunge band it's like comparing apple and oranges very differents bands and visions, not necesseraly better just different.
Don't forget about Scott Weiland!
Many beautiful souls in the grunge tunes
Chris's daughter is beautiful.
All his kids are.
@@chiselfan1981 i agree
Doesn’t get any Vedder than this ! Thanks for the video
2 great ppl..Ed and Lily.
I enjoyed the interview.
I Stand With Soundgarden ❤
Lily's mental health interview series Mind Wide Open is great.
Lily chose the name Mind Wide Open from some lyrics that Chris gave her in 2016.
The lyrics he wrote in the 90's and were never shared publicly.
Half alive/Heard the most brilliant lie/Sleep is eyes closed to the light/Death is the mind wide open - Chris Cornell
Part of those lyrics are in the song Black Rain
Eddie’s eyes are mesmerizing! So is his voice!
The fact she called her project "Open Minds" which could mean a number of things, speaks volumes to her knowledge of what happened.
Its called mind wide open because Chris gave Lily some of his unheard lyrics that he wrote in the 90's.
Here are his lyrics,
Half alive/ Heard the most brilliant lie/Sleep is eyes closed to the light /Death is the mind wide open
Ashley S. I wonder what Lily will do with them...
As someone who turned 18 in 1991, seeing all these bands live and hearing all of their albums when they were new, the memories can be just too overwhelming even today. I met some of these guys throughout those years as well. They were not stars in the traditional sense. They were approachable and you would often see them at a record store picking through the classics before they would play down the road later that night. Some times you look back and think that it was the bad experiences that remain painful but ironically, the good memories are equally as painful because those great times, the wonderful people and the places are long gone and won't ever return. I'll often return to a city I haven't been to in a while and I can almost feel an echo of the what was once there. The posted signs for album releases, the laughter of that Goth girl you would always see smoking a cigarette outside a coffee shop. The holy distortion of guitars blaring from someone's car. If you stand still long enough, you can almost see that world like a fleeting ghost.
I still hold out hope that right now, somewhere in the world, there's some pissed off 16 year old kid in his/her garage who is on their way to release an avalanche of noise and pure anguish.
This is a beautiful comment. I was actually born in 91’ I’m almost 30 now. As I se my parents getting older, my favorite artists dying and a my childhood fading away I can relate with everything you said on your comment. I can honestly say that the happy memories are disturbingly the most painful ones.
@@stefanogugliotta957 thank you my friend
Well said. I was 16 in 1991 when Grunge exploded. I worked a lot during HS and never went to concerts till my early 20s. I got to meet a lot of bands also. I regret not going to Pearl Jam or Nirvana when they first started. I was a angry teen would would roam the streets on a school nite and vandalize cars and buildings. I did get to see Soundgarden a few years ago. It was the second best concert of my life.
Your comment really touched me. I know I'm late, but still. I'm 17 now, I started playing the Guitar 7 years ago and I'm really passionate about it.. The 90s seemed like the perfect time to be young, really. It's funny how I will turn 18 in 2024, while you turned 18 in 91, it's a very weird thing to think about to be honest..
I'm kind of scared of everything, I don't wanna fall in line but at the same time I know how stupid that is. I have a loving girlfriend, but only time will tell what happens next. Music is the best thing in the world in my opinion, how it can move people and how deeply enrooted it all is. I want to make more of my own music, have my own band but I don't know how to start a band.
But all in all I'm a happy person. Life is really fun right now and being a teenager and growing up is a very unique time. I know I'll pull through, just like you and everybody else.
If anybody does read this, thank you. Take care :)
This is just pure gold. And I kept thinking about what you said about people around the world gravitating around Seattle scene, and that is just so true... Heck!, I'm over fucking 6400 miles away in South America and those guys made my favorite music of all times. Thanks for keeping the memories
Two so talented guys with great respect for each other on one stage only a dream come true for most of us Chris you left us way too soon it shocked the world
I'm so excited lily's on her own with a purpose filled life now. This is major new wave therapy.Calling all age groups to watch. It takes courage wisdom and inner beauty & vulnerability ,to achieve what this young lady is doing. I'm in Awe😗😘😏😏😏
this girl is illegally beautiful ! her smile melt me !
Good video man. Thanks for sharing.
Why they not mention Scott Weiland? STP was great too
Not from Seattle
JLH HLJ still a big grunge band
They weren't mentioned because the video was about the Seattle grunge era. STP was from San Diego and when Scott Wieland died the members of Pearl Jam gave condolences but said they'd never actually met.
Andy Salter They talked about the era of grunge and showed a picture that said grunge and shoes layne Eddie Chris and Kurt but not Scott
“Grunge and shoes”. Love it. Good band name or something
Bless her heart. She lost her dad. I wish them them the best from Mississippi.
I still can't believe Cornell is dead 😔
Yes young Eddie Vedder and Chris were very good looking and talented
They and a handful of others totally made/controled the 90's. Changed the music world... Gotta love the Northwest sound, creativity, beauty, etc....
I love all the Dudeman productions.
I’m so glad Eddie was able to bring some smiles to Lilly. She seems to be so sweet!
Two beautiful gorgeous talented men, I'm sure glad Eddie still here, Chris's daughter is beautiful just her father, love and miss you Chris Cornell 😇 I miss Layne and Kurt too!! 😇😇 💛♥️🏄♂️✌🤘
The art @ 2:30 of the 4 frontmen. Where does it come from?
Came to comments looking for the answer to this exact question!
Ahhh back in the day, when Ed & fellow musicians actually wrote quality.
So glad to see this channel doing well. I don't watch other people's Nirvana content for fear their style will rub off on me. But the other grunge bands are great to watch.
Eddie is so real and cool
the grunge portrait are missing scott weiland. Rip Kurt Layne Chris and Scott
That's the exact thought I had when I saw it. Where's Scott?
Remember he's not from Seattle might b y he's not included if it's there.

Chris was the field general. Very in tuned he was. His dry sence of humor had us cracking up. Thx for the post. Never met the man but I miss him like a brother. I have this reoccurring dream in time we fin DC him alive, yep him and chester. FBI protection. Nice dream.
I spent time with him . You are correct he did have a very dry humour . And a big kind heart . He’s so missed . He should be here 💔
💞 ED U NO HOW WE ALL FEEL Ur something else mate xox
With the simultaneous revolution of music with the rise of both rap and grunge, those entering highschool in 1990 were very lucky to be that age at that time. It would lead to Nu Metal of course and from grunges pain to angst and anger as 2000 rang in with Limp Korn and the rage rock.
I remember listening to grunge music back when it started & I live down here Baja California where either you listened to spanish rock, mexican music or heavy metal, Well "couple of friends" & I had this bootleg recording of Soundgarden's Screaming Life & I really dug what I heard so much that I bought it of my friend & just played the living sound out of that cassette tape! Get this I went to the local record store in town which happened to be a heavy metal record store & sure enough there was no grunge music in the music catalog's they had so I asked the employee about that & he told me write down the band name's & he'll see, sure enough a few day's later I visit the shop & low & behold new catalog's with grunge band's listed in them! So I start ordering from what's available listen to the music & so far so good some misses & some like's not gonna lie didnt' fancy some grunge bands "to each his own" so one day I drop in to see what music I was going to buy (by this time the shop was stocking grunge music) so I see that there are 2 cassettes in a case behind the cashier's space one says Pearl Jam Ten & the other says Tad 8-Way Santa, which to buy since I only had enough $ for one cassette I went with Tad best choice I ever made! Don't get me wrong I went back & bought the Pearl Jam cassette & I was alright but listening to Tad & Soundgarden's recording's in those day's cemented what Grunge really was for me. Still listen to all those early recording's to this day I also throw in a bit of Willard's Steel Mill just for good measure😉
Why is Eddie cracking me up? Funny story man
Gotta be some kid in a garage who will reinvent the wheel and save ROCK n ROLL from karaoke gameshow winners
Awesome video man

Meh, AIC & Soundgarden were NOT "Grunge".
Facelift and Dirt is the definition of grunge
@@XoldnewsX I disagree. 'Dirt' was Sabbath influenced Metal. 'Facelift' was Hard Rock (actually included a Funk Rock trend-hopping song: Something about you).
Guppusmaximus At the end of the day there really was not ever grunge per se. People put that tag on it because they had not heard anything like it before. That being said it was rock and roll with more leanings on heavy meral without the hairspray. Really detested that word. Not a fair representation at all.
