  • In episode 3 of Stitch The Sketch series, I thread sketch an English breakfast scene - a teapot pouring tea into a teacup. I use polyester threads an a light weight stabilizer.

    I am an art student and plan on using some “line and wash” style thread sketching with inktense for one of my classes this semester, I decided now is the perfect time to start playing with this style I have always wanted to try. Just have to get a free motion foot

    Lovely, Clara, I've only seen the freemotion sketching as outlines until now - the shading looks really effective. Something new for me to try!

      Absolutely Gillian, you can use sketching for more than outlining. Try it out.

    I do stitch fast but the video is also fast forwarded in certain portions to make the video not too long. I set the stitch length to zero on the sewing machine so how fast or slow I move is what determines the stitch length, not the sewing machine.

    Wondering what sewing machine you use here?

      Hi Jill, that’s the most common question I get. I use a Juki 2010Q. It’s a straight stitch machine with no fancy stitches. It just sews straight. I hope that answers your question

    I have never seen something like this. May I ask why you work with gloves? This is amazing!!!

    • @Claranartey
      @Claranartey  4 года назад +1

      Maree Van Rooyen thank you. I use gloves to help me get a better grip on the fabric. So that I can move it around more easily

      @@Claranartey this is such a wonderful way to create art. I have a very old machine 32 years old. I have tried to see where I can lower the foot dog. Maybe get another machine? Thanks for sharing. Love from South Africa

      Maree Van Rooyen you don’t have to get a new machine if your old machine is in good shape but doesn’t have the ability to lower the feed dogs. What you can do is cover the feed dogs so they can no longer move or feed the fabric through. You can use heavy duty tape to cover your machine’s feed dogs.

      Maree Van Rooyen it helps me to hold the fabric firmly and have better control over it
