Hi this piece broke on my daughter’s 2005 Corolla yesterday . I found your video it was very well explained, fast forward next day following your instructions I was able to fix it!! 😃 . Saving us $300 or possibly more if including towing . Toyota had the Part $4.00. Again we are very thankful and grateful to your video and channels. God bless.
My girlfriend was about to call a tow truck and take her 2005 corolla to the shop because she thought her transmission crapped out. She most likely would have gotten bent over and penitrated without lube. Thanks to you and your video I was able to fix it for her in about 45 minutes including drive time to the toyota dealership. The guy in the parts department told me that the part usually cost about $12 but it was ringing up as $2.20. With tow this would have easily have been a $500 repair. Thank you so much for your very helpful content .
Thanks for making this video. I got into the shifter area and had no clue why the cable came off. Your video made me aware of that little rubber insert. $10 and my hour is much better than $500+
looks like the bushing that fit this year of Toyotas are all the same. I used the dorman 14797 and it's usually in the help section. I installed the bushing on the shifter pin first then slipped the cable loop on second.
Are you crazy, that Music is what says that this is not a BIG deal…. Its a Chill out Music, its a “I Got You” dont worry Music lol I was freaking out thinking that Toyota would charge me like $500. I took my cover off from my Yaris shifter and its exactly this same issue. I am buying the bushing tomorrow, will see if i can do the wire trick to get the car running to the Shop store.

Great video, but where does the last cable plug into? Now my passenger headlight won't turn on. I switched cables around and it turned on but the driver side headlight went off. Please reply.
Hi sure , the cables you disconnect should have only been for the cigarette lighter and the light for the ash tray. Some models are different, there should be a connector for each side they will only go on one way , there should be another connector near the floor.
Got caught in the snow and my car is in neutral my shift cable that yellow thing is extended and stuck when I started my car to move the shift gear it went in to drive and started moving forward but it wont let me put it in park at all. Need help please Have a blessed day

My car is a 2008 Toyota Camry yes stuck in park but the level will move but I won’t come out of work so what should I do

My shift cable wont even fully go back down into the tube to even get to R and P. Would this help or do I need a whole new cable

@6:38 the bigger one(yellow)connect to lighter, other one is smaller (gray) , is this one no connect anything , right ?

Whats the black rubber thing called?
Shifter cable bushing , basically that’s what you’ll find it under. eBay is the cheapest 🙂 👍
This bushing just broke on my corolla lastnite i put 3 zip ties for the meantime but you have to be very gentle when changing gears.
Yeah that’s a temporary fix but you can order that on eBay real cheap and repair soon as possible you don’t want to be stuck out on the road 😂👍

Yeah that’s the shifter cable to trans you can’t move by had , snap it back on the shifter then try to put in Park

somebody said he called dealer ， and bought it under 2bucks~~holy.....
You can get it for a dollar something at Toyoto dealership.
