depending on the type of paper.
some may get the face pulled off dry, then wet the backing in with hot soapy water.. let the water do the work.
Other tough papers may need a stripping knife to get the face off... then hot soapy water.
non woven papers should pull off in sheets.. any backing can be soaked in.
very rare we use a steam stripper.

Fellow from UK I apprenticed under, showed me a valuable technique for difficult paper. In the 150 + old homes if the plaster has lost its key & is coming off with the paper. STOP! Screw and glue it back down. Wipe with methyl hydrate. Let dry. Prime with oil/alkyd based primer. Skim tears and seams. Sand, spit prime, paint or seal and paper again. 😁.

Did I miss something? If I want to put up a new Wallpaper after removing the old one put up on Semigloss, I am to use
    a Gaurdz by Zinser wallpaper?
The old paper was a partial Foil with a geometric design. Hubby did a fabulous job on that Wall 10 years ago.
However it is looking a little old, and I lost my Wallpaper Executive during the pandemic.
LOL I have removed wallpaper in the past. I did everything wrong! Thank you Spencer!

Difficult removal sometimes takes me 15 or 20 minutes to figure out the best method of removal

Hey Spencer! Had a room to strip here in the uk…. Wallpaper straight over 1970s bare plasterboard that was taped on the joints…. Oil Gloss coated wood chip wallpaper….. you can see where this is going…. Let’s just say it was quicker to tear the plasterboard off and re board it. It was for a local council and the house was empty…. No amount of water would penetrate it and you couldn’t even lift the seams haha. Take it easy buddy. Marc

If it was on that solid why not prime it and paper over it?
