In the post game interview he spoke to how his game is limited by Jamal Joker 2 man. The failure of realizing MPJ potential is equally spread amongst Malone, Murray and Porter.
Honestly, the two-man game takes away from everyone else. The amount of time the Nuggets spend getting Jamal going during the game is concerning because he can shoot the team out of games.
Not saying we’d be better off with no Jamal, cause I don’t really think that even though that has certainly been the case so far this season, the fact is being a third option limits MPJ just as it’d limit any player because you’re asked to put up great production with very inconsistent looks and roles. MPJ does very good in that and asking someone else to take that role will see them struggle as well. There’s been one time in his career where for an extended window, MPJ wasn’t a third option but rather a 2nd option and that was for his 2nd season in 2021 when Jamal went down with that infamous injury. Over the final 18 games of that season as the nuggets true number 2 he averaged 24 and 6 on 57-47-84 splits in his second season. Then went into the postseason and put up 17 and 6 on 47-40-81 splits. He’s way better than that player now, but the stats don’t reflect it simply because he’s asked to play a very niche, auxiliary scoring role cause that’s what this team needs. Moving him is a massive gamble, especially for a guy like Lavine who hasn’t seen such an inconsistent role system Minnesota and last year, the first time he even came close his efficiency plummeted.
I came to the Nuggets because I'm a Russ fan. Tonight he didn't have a great game (there was a really rough couple of minutes in the 2nd Q especially), but man, I love watching this team play. The lack of energy can be frustrating at times, but the style of play is great. Today I found myself really cheering for Porter. Amazing response to the previous game and all the trade talk!
I told you guys, the bench guys are going to grow and they will be ready to do great things. Let´s give them time and I´m absolutely sure they will all develop to be important for the Nuggets!!
Been waiting all season for this game. Consistent effort all game from the whole team. By far their most complete game of the year. The question is whether they cam keep that focus. If they can we are gonna be back in a big way!
@@ljtowers5161 Bogi just turned 32. Although he hasn't played many NBA games this season he's still one of the best sharpshooters in the league. His 3P% throughout the Olympics this year was 46%. He has an incredible work ethic and takes care of his body. He's also an elite clutch player going back to his Partizan days. He would bring much needed perimeter shooting for the Nuggets as well as additional playmaking which will be important to have in situations when Jamal Murray and Russ are not up for the task. The only thing MPJ has over him is size and athleticism MPJ is a better wing driving to the rim and a better rebounder. If I can get Bogi and DeAndre Hunter and a pick for MPJ i'd be making that trade. I've seen a few instances where Bogi went off on coach Snyder and I have a feeling he wants a change of scenery.
I watch all the games. Jamal has been turning a corner recently despite the ugly Portland loss. There's no way this team competes for a deep playoff run without Murray at 90% of his peak. The stats show the best lineup is with Murray on the court btw.
@@je5406the thing that concerns me is that yes, Jamal was playing better, but the team didn't look better. Something in the dynamic and the vibe seems a little off when he's there. I hope that will change because I do agree, we need him to be good to succeed at the situation we're in when he's untradable right now.
There is not one player in the NBA who would be worth an MPJ trade. He is part of the chemistry on this team. The Nuggets have a lot invested in him....they never gave up on him through all his back surgeries. He's having his best season. Why on earth would the Nuggets trade him?
The trade talk is mind-boggling to me. The same core that won the NBA CHAMPIONSHIP a year and a half ago, is together. Definite grass is not greener on the other side lesson
Does Jamal Murray have much trade value? I think they need to move him this off-season. Just not reliable, unfortunately. He plays 50 games a year and has 20-30 decent games.
The playoffs will determine Murray's fate on the team. It'll be hard to move him because of his contract, but with max contracts being handing out left and right these days, there will always be a way to move Murray. Unfortunately, Jamal is at a state where his health concern does heavily affect his play. I will say this is a 2nd night of a back to back so I'll give him the pass. He shouldn't be out for long with the ankle injury. He has played 21 games this season and has missed 6 games so far. If he can play around 65 games this season, I think it's fine. The issue is the consistency and his health comes playoff time. Murray looks good in one game and looks average or even bad the next game. The consistency is the issue even though Murray has been playing a lot better as of late. Jokic even said it himself. What makes a player great is the consistency.
I took a look a couple of years ago at Murray's injury history and how many games he's missed in his Nuggets career in comments at another site. Even outside of the two lost seasons and playoff runs due to the ACL that killed the Nuggets during their actual 'window' he's missed an incredible % of games. And been a 'game time decision' constantly because he's always nicked up. One of the least physically durable players in the league over the past 7 or 8 years. It's literally always something. Got to be body type plus style of play. Can't believe the Nuggets gave this guy a max extension. Stupid terrible decision.
C'mon. Let's face it. If the team loses a game in the future, we will all be hysterical and will have to call for a trade for all except Jokic again. Let's at least be consistent.
@@Paloshoot ya the back and forth is a bit exhausting, one day it’s all going to be okay… the next day is heavy trade talk, and we need massive change etc.
@@TechIndustryAnalysis right? I used to watch most Denver nuggets discussions but man was I disappointed at these so called sports enthusiast/analysts. Almost every game they change their stance. At least the haters are consistent.
Being able to do everything that he's asked to do is half of the story. The other is half being willing to do everything and anything. How many stars are there that are ego-less and are willing to just go out and do whatever it is to win and not choose the own success first?
Its pretty clear that the majority of nuggets fans just don't like Murray. First its trade him because he's underperforming then after a couple 20 pt games he's awful for the team because he only plays in around 60 games in the regular season. If he plays in 70+ this or next season I'm sure people will find another. But like people like who they like just how it goes i guess.
First of all, Jamal is unlikely to play 70 games in a season. Additionally, he takes too long to reach even an acceptable level of performance. I don't believe he is worth the contract he has. Westbrook demonstrates that any decent point guard can develop a successful two-man game with Jokic; it shouldn't take years like it did with Jamal. Lastly, the Nuggets tend to play better team basketball when he is not on the court.
@astriddececco3005 So basically you are proving my point. You provided the additional reason that Even if he were to play 70+ games his chemistry with Jokic is so easily replaced by any decent Pg that can do why have him on the team. Like you, majority of nuggets fans seem to just not want him on the team hence why I said don't like him earlier. I don't see how that is negating my point
The nuggets don’t have a player problem, they have an effort problem. MPJ played liked an alpha like athletes need to do! The whole team played hard so maybe its the coach that is soft?
Zero trust in this team. Clown highs and lows. The Portland loss turned my opinion from looking at the Nuggets as a possibly serious team to seeing them--accurately--as an unpredictable first or second round playoff out if they even make the playoffs. This just isn't a strong basketball team. Replace Jokic with a league average center like Nurkic and they win maybe 25 games. It's a joke. Murray missing yet another game with yet another injury as he has his whole career. It really is unbelievable. His contract even more unbelievable.

MPJ + Nnaji for Bogi + Hunter + maybe a 1st round pick.
