Lost my husband to suicide 9 years this Christmas. Took many years of psychiatric treatment and therapy. My younger boys were listening to this song here and I was finally able to pull myself up from rock bottom. You don't realize how far you fall until you start climbing to find the light of day! Shinedown has been my saving grace, my take back my life and conquer my life music. Still find many times when life gets rough, I will play their music and I feel like I can conquer the world. My children and I lost a great part of our life, I know that listening to these songs, they saved my children from another tragic loss of losing their mom too. Thank you Shinedown, for savin me! I hope someday I can buy tickets to see you in concert❤❤

In the span of 3 months my mum died suddenly, my marriage ended, I lost the step-kids I had raised for nearly 10 years, my home and everything I had ever known. I had to move into my car and I've been homeless off and on for the last decade. This song came out as this was happening and the lyrics felt as if they had been written for me. This song will always hit a certain spot. Amazing band, amazing talent.

I listened to this song for the first time with my girlfriend Ashley on the way to meet her father for the first time. She wants me to learn the lyrics so I listen to it over and over, it has such a powerful message.. We both met each other a few months ago at an aa meeting. We both are recovering from addiction and this song really hits home, for me as well for her.If she ever were to read this, I just want her to know the part of the song about nothing lasting forever to me is about addiction, because her and I, that is one forever I can honestly see lasting. It's funny-this song was meant for a break up, but this fits my dad's life so well. He is now passed from overdose, but he tried. He'd always come back to us and apolagize but no matter how hard he tried to stop, he couldn't. He thought I hated him but he loved me so well, so much. If there's one thing you can do in life; it's tell someone how you feel before it's too late.
You're right with that, brother. I remember after my uncle passed on, I felt so bad for a long time because I never got the opportunity to tell him how much I loved him and how much he meant to me.
So sorry for your loss hopefully you can find some inner peace in the fact that your father loved you before he did pass on. Hopefully you'll see him again one day.

Man, I thought my life was tough.... this song reminds me of my dad because when my parents first got married (29 years ago) he would always cuss and had really bad anger problems, and obviously my mom didn't like that, she HATES cussing. My dad tried to change, but not much happened. About 8 years ago, my mom wanted to divorce him. Soon after my dad got brain cancer and my mom decided to stay and help out. A miracle happened, and the brain tumor just magically disappeared. And now, they are divorced and I can see my dad's mood shift from the event. But anyways, I apologize for your loss man, I know what it's like to lose a loved one. Cheers

My dad died in a car wreck on January 9 2010. I was so depressed. I grabbed my dad's gun, cocked back, and pulled the trigger. Misfire. I felt like such a failure. Then this song played on our radio in the bedroom. I broke down crying so hard because I knew this was my dad speaking to me. Shinedown saved my life. 9 years later on December 9 2019 me and my now wife gave birth to a beautiful babygirl. If this wasn't meant to be destined!!!

I have to agree with all of the comments saying Shinedown is underrated, only 1.51M subscribers on RUclips. They deserve so much more their music is incredible and for me, their probably one of the most nostalgic bands. I remember being younger and my mom would play their music all of the time. "Sound Of Madness" and "Bully" are some of the most nostalgic songs for me. As for this song, it's very beautiful, calm and overall very good. This is just one of those bands who deserve more fans through their amazing effort and talent in all of their songs.

Her being an alcoholic has not only destroyed her life but also wrecked my whole families life to the point of divorce and my brother leaving and never coming back. I have heard her say almost the exact words tht were said in this song and I think thts y I connect with it so much because no matter wut I feel towards her ik she will always love as she did before everything happened she has tried to stop drinking but of course relapsed and I'm not disappointed at all its extremely hard to quit an addiction especially one u have had for years and years. This song reminds me of my only ex, her name is irrelevant... But when she threw me away, for MONTHS, I burdened depression, and even fell off the beaten path (didn't do drugs or anything like that) but I didn't feel like myself, and shine down brought me back!

I know how you feel, I had a girlfriend that meant everything to me. I loved this girl, but I questioned if she felt the same the way she treated me. She always put me down, never had anything good to say. And she ruined a lot of my friendships because she set them up and cried that they beat her up or tried to rape her. I had enough, and I broke up with her the day after my 17th birthday, which was November 26th of last year, it destroyed me, but I told mg friends it didn't even bother me. But this song made me cry too, and I don't even cry off of music. But I've been in your shoes, don't feel down.
