    Randy, it is great getting to watch you're trips. If it wasn't for public lands I would have stopped hunting years ago. The older I get the more it's the enjoyment of the company I'm with and the country I get to see then actually shooting anything. I still average an elk every 3-4 years and I don't need to shot bulls if a fat cow comes along. :-) Keep up the good work, it keeps me going.

    Randy, thanks for the awesome video. I live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and love this part of the country with all my heart and have been blessed with the opportunity to explore, hunt and fish this place. If you're ever in the area, I'd love to meet you and exchange stories. Possibly get together for a fishing trip on one of these mountain lakes or a hunt if the timing is right. I just bought my Kenetrek Mountain Extreme 400-gram boots, too!! PS - had to have them send me the "Cushion" insoles because the arch was hurting during the suggested 50 mile break-in period. Hope you're doing well and gearing up for this season's hunts and videos. I still need to do some editing on my hunting videos and publish them. Take care and be safe!

    I'm glad this is a real hunting show that takes ethical real world shots. These shows that shoot elk at 1000+ yards are a joke. The bullet simply doesn't have enough energy behind it to ethically kill an elk at that range

    • @randylamborn3579
      @randylamborn3579 6 лет назад

      SHOT PLACEMENT or the ability to place a bullet where it will ethically kill a elk or lack there of in those shows is the problem.. Not the bullet

    Great series! Strikes me that one of the things that would strengthen your ability to get on animals you've spotted when you're split up is a Satellite email/text capability with a silent/vibration alert. Mike could have gotten there in half the time if Randy could have just texted him. Don't get me wrong, I'm not in favour of tech dominating one's backcountry hunting experience. But you use tech often anyway. GPS, hunting apps etc.. So why not?

    Randy, thanks for the great episode and a great hunt for you and Mike. 'Central Wyoming' is pretty bare, was this the western slope of the Big Horns? Also, was this a general tag or a draw unit? I hunted just west of Buffalo a couple of years ago and got skunked by high temps, (60's at over 8000') and left early due to a thief that stole fuel from my camp.... Great looking elk country though, did you see any Mule deer there? Thanks again, jc.

    • @Fresh_Tracks

      No, Mike is a resident of NV and me a resident of MT. Non-residents do not need a guide to hunt elk in WY, unless you are hunting a designated Wilderness Area. This was just some BLM land, so no guide or resident partner needed.

      In my home state of Montana, they are illegal to use for hunting. Thus, I don't even own any. On occasion, when hunting states where they are legal to use, some have joined us who have radios. We have found ways to get the same result without them, so we see them mostly as another piece of stuff to worry about and heaven knows we already have enough stuff to worry about with our cameras, audio, etc.

I live here in Wyoming and do quite a bit of hunting in areas that are big chunks of BLM or state where the public land barely touches the road for a couple hundred yards then opens up or just other hard to access spots where you need a gps . Its really cool to see someone on a hunting show that applys that tactic. I love it ! Keep up the great work Randy and if you ever wanna go on a hunt get ahold of me. +konar miles - You would prefer that we show the three (not two as you noted) follow up shots into that thick tree that was protecting the bull where he laid down after the first shot. I get that. TV production guidelines don't allow finishing shots on a bedded animal to be shown. I agree with that guideline and I wouldn't show followup shots on dying animals, even if it was allowed. If it is that important to you to see all finishing shots, then you probably shouldn't watch our stuff, or any other network stuff. We don't show followup shots on mortally hit animals and neither does any network. Sorry to disappoint. Hope that explains the four empty cases. I pick up all empty cases before we leave a shot location, whether it is one shot or four shots. Not trying to hide anything. If you want a list of the other episodes where we did not show the follow up shots on dying animals, I can provide that, so as to not offend your sense of honesty.

      +Randy Newberg, Hunter it's the big deal about one great shot when actually he wounded the bull and by the sounds of it fired randomly into a bush, I guess things are different in America to here in Scotland but firing wildly into a bush is just beyond me

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 лет назад +24

      +konar miles - He mortally hit the bull and finished with an excellent follow up shot. He tried to thread follow up shots through the limbs of that bush. "By the sounds of it" (your term) maybe you were there watching to make the claims you have. "In America" if you mortally hit an animal, you still try your best to dispatch him with follow up shots as best you can. No "firing wildly into a bush," but if that satisfies your basis for criticizing, knock yourself out.

    • @HuntingTheWest
      @HuntingTheWest 8 лет назад +1

      +Randy Newberg, Hunter, I thought the exact same thing when I saw where that first shot hit. I was wondering "why are they celebrating" and figured out somewhere between the first shot and walking up to the dead bull, they finished it off. I did not notice the extra brass mentioned above. It's hunting, and that was a long shot, sometimes stuff like that happens, and the other side of things that us guys don't have to concern ourselves with is you guys are out there making a tv show to boot! Well done I say. Since I found your channel last week, it's made this time of year a little more fun. Still another 6 weeks til I go bear hunting, so these sure help!

      +konar miles Listening to get someone that worked up over a shot count gave me a good laugh, and for that I am grateful. Howling Wyo winds and the guy hit a little back, then finished him through a tough brush stand at more than 400 yards in crappy conditions with a dose of adrenaline in his system. One shot or four, he was dead fast. Would you like the other 72 hours of edited tape? Get a life.
