  • The Lynton & Lynmouth Cliff Railway in Exmoor North Devon is a clever piece of Victorian engineering that's been running for more than a century. The way it works; the ideas behind it and the machinery that makes it run are fascinating.
Find out why it was built, who was involved in creating it and how it works using nothing more than water drawn from a local river.

From Keith Jones ex-pro drummer retired to Cornwall. Went on this with my wife Jean many years ago now. Good ride and a great view also very steep. Keep up the good work on the cliff railway. God Bless, Take Care (K.J.)

EXCELLENT MINI DOCUMENTARY, I'VE TRAVELLED ON THIS WONDERFUL CREATION SEVERAL TIMES, SINCE 1958. IT'S A OFTEN SAID FACT, ' VICTORIAN ENGINEERS WERE NOT JUST BRILLIANT PIONEERS, BUT BRAVE AND DETERMINED TOO. I DIDN'T REALISE THOUGH, HOW COMPLEX IT ALL IS, SO EARNS EVEN MORE PRAISE.
