Awesome solo! I love Mikey! He's my favorite guitarist and one of my top 5 musicians. Saying this as a drummer. He's a huge inspiration and I stalk his page and discography resulting in discovering music that feature amazing solos even though I wouldn't listen to the music in the first place.
my moooost fave .... post most of unique Mike Landau live material on youtube . . . highly needed for whole musical world, musicans, drummers , guitarist .... simply the best trio on earth (after jimi hendrix experience)
The only living American guitarist I have heard that can stand on the same pedestal as Jeff Beck. There are plenty in America as good as Michael Landau and in many ways actually more well rounded but he has something very peculiar.(Eric Johnson, Tony Rice,Kelly Joe Phelps, Pat Metheny, Shawn Lane, Steve Lukather,Steve Morse, Nils Lofgren, Kurt Rosenwinkel,Vai, Alex Di Grassi, Satch, R.Ford, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Zakk Wylde the list could go on...) He gets inside the groove, inside the hook and his view is so oblique as to be an almost singular perspective and this makes his sounds a challenging encounter, often staggeringly brilliant and sometimes a little strange. From his timbre & sonority, to note selection and phrasing Michael Landau is unique. Maybe Steve Tibbetts and Michael Hedges are equally unique. Of course there is Hendrix but I won't try to put anyone there as it is not fair.I can't say I always like what he does but after working hard to get his angle I do appreciate his style & he's often mind awakening and strangely addictive. He also makes me realise how much you can say by doing very little you know, like not shredding for the sake of it.
The difference is musicians is to be enjoyed on a positive note....right............Once all these Cats you've listed reach that plateau ,which they all have......No one is ,{ more well rounded ] it's like life ...it'e just a different presentation......All the Lingo - Phrasing , tone this tone that.......how tired am I hearing about , phrasing , dumble amps, what year is that ................ What I know after playing for over 45 years now...from Santa cruz to Nashville.......Landau is a Well Rounded musician... He is the sound even in the multi talented bands....Solo , renegade creation ,Landau group...he is the foundation... Landau has a Live release coming out in August............ Let's get thru this covid crap..... and get back to gigs.... Blessings 2 all
hes playing with two hot rod devilles.with two 12" in them. i believe right here he is also running one speaker with the delays and reverb. and the other without. you can see the red hall of fame reverb pedal on he amp. sounds sick!!!!!
@Maurice, I don't know about all that, but now I'm hungry, dude. ;- ) I thought my computer's volume was muted off. But he definitely tears it up! Interestingly, Landau is running a tandem pair of not-exactly-small amps, miked, to create his dynamics in a pretty small room. Great performance and video, regardless. But now I really need a cheeseburger.

Fun cover, guys! Found this looking for Hendrix's version.
Yes, and its no way close to Hendrix.
Gear wise, it don't really matter what Mike plays or plays through. It sounds great anyway.
Jimi hendrix cover.
I don't like this cover/performance, sry
defo not the best Landau tone
+SurveyofFilmMusic true, just another fantastic set of tones from the tone master! Chocolate & Vanilla, my friend ;)
