I often see this with Americans, they are not very informed about Canada.
The idea of bringing in all the western provinces to the northern shore has been on the drawing board for a long time. The fact that Ottawa has repeatedly shown nothing but utter disdain for those provinces (especially AB and SK), is just icing on the cake to justify such a move.
I would support having Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC, Yukon, the NWT and Nunavut join the US, as well as the US purchasing Greenland. To keep from tipping the US leftward politically, keep the low-population Arctic regions as territories rather than making them states, and merge Winnipeg, Vancouver and Victoria into the District of Columbia. The Inuit people in Greenland haven't expressed an interest in joining a Fascist United States. I think if majority of Canadians want to join USA and will vote for it then it should happen. As an European I envy to all people that are living under the leadership of the greatest American president ever.
An overwhelming majority of Canadians have absolutely no desire to join the United States. They are about to elect a new Prime Minister with the largest Conservative majority of any western country. At the end of the day Canadians enjoy being Canadian. We may really hate Trudeau, but that has zero impact on how we feel about our sovereignty. Annexing all of Canada isn't likely (and as a US citizen, I don't think it's a good idea). Other than Alberta and possibly Saskatchewan, there wouldn't be sentiment to do so. Plus, you'd never get the First Nations (who populate Nunavut and the Northwest territories) to ever agree, base on the US's history with violating Native American treaties. Canada's real issue has been not letting Quebec become an independent nation, IMO. If that ever happened, you'd see more of a centrist/conservative government in the rest of Canada. You'd never see a real conservative party, but I could see a JFK type progressive style government, which would work well with the US and other nations in the Western hemisphere. I'd prefer to see that, and Canada survive as it's own nation, vs annexing with the US.
Canada has let Quebec hold two referendums on independence since 1980. Voted down twice by the people of Quebec. FYI, we have a real conservative party right now that's leading by 20 points.
To be fair to the US, it's a lot better about Native American treaties and treatment now than it used to be. Like...a lot better. It could be argued it's because the DC government doesn't consider them a threat at this point, but there's little reason to believe they'd be worse to the First Nations than the Canadian government has been.
Yours is the first comment that I have seen that recognizes the First Nations input and importance in such an endeavour. There are First Nations communities in all of our provinces and territories. So many videos on this 'annexing' subject on the internet, with so little understanding, yet so detrimental to Canada as we prepare for a federal election in 2025. We do not need to be adding Trump to our election topics. Justin Trudeau has been more than happy to do so in the past in order to secure votes. Trump should focus on Western Canada, that being Saskatchewan, Alberta and BC, the people in Quebec and Ontario are a mess. Canada-West has good resources, land and you absolutely need the port in BC for potential pipelines from Alberta and transport/export resources from Saskatchewan

Just taking BC and Alberta would force the rest of Canada into submission. That country relies heavily on the Port of Vancouver for overseas trade that having it cut off would mean an existential threat to Canada. Even if the rest of Canada decides to limp on as a rump state, it won't have the geopolitical leverage to be able to resist much external political influence. Knowing the general passive aggressive nature of Canadians, I doubt that they will resort to insurgency when faced with a choice to submit or to subsist their way.

To be fair, there...are a lot of positives. I don't think it'll ever happen, but due to the US Constitution and government already being a federal republic, Canada (or its Provinces) could slot in as additional States easily. Canadians would have free roam as US citizens to live and work and travel anywhere in the US and Canada, as well as the US's partners. US passports tend to carry a lot of weight and it has a lot of alliances and trade agreements (Canada shares many of these, but the point is you wouldn't be losing out). Canada could keep operating things like its nationalized healthcare system if they wanted to at their state level, and would have more protected freedoms of speech, assembly, etc than the current Canadian charter of rights seems to grant. But the laws overall would change very little since States in the US are given tremendous latitude on their laws provided they don't violate the Bill of Rights in the Constitution. About the only big changes would be gun laws, though even there, the courts have given states a fair amount of latitude provided the stop short of outright bans. Canada joining the US would probably be one of the LEAST friction national mergers in Human history.

So many videos on this 'annexing' subject on the internet, with so little understanding, yet so detrimental to Canada as we prepare for a federal election in 2025. Jordan Peterson says that his professional colleagues will be sympathetic to him in private but not a one has spoken up on his behalf publicly. The highest court in Canada has rubber stamped this despicable tyranny. It’s Bonhoeffer all over again.
We need to keep this diabolical fiendishness well isolated from our body politic.
People have talked about a North American Union before, and the US is basically ALREADY that with the Federal/State government system (federal republic) established by the Constitution. And unlike south from the US, the US and Canada are far closer and more compatible culturally than the US and Mexico/Central America/Caribbean cultures would be.
Fallout timeline go brrrrrt
No, it's not.
@@DLRS222 Agreed! As an American I think this is a dumb idea. Let Canada be Canada. They have a right to their own identity and shouldn't have to be part of the US juggernaut.
Do it, Trump
See how Justing Trudeau responds
Grow up!
Canada is the 5th best country in the world in 2024. It has been #2 and #3 in previous years. The US is not even in the top 10! And you think we want to join the US??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I look forward to losing my universal Healthcare and inheriting a 37 trillion dollar debt. Lets all swim towards titanic.
Our "healthcare" is one of the biggest crimes against humanity ever, its only goal is to make money at the expense of human lives.
Don't you get it?acquiring all those natural resources puts a huge dent in that debt
@danzemacabre8899 how simplistic, first off....natural resources are the jurisdiction of the provinces of Canada, not the federal government. So certain provinces will definitely get screwed over.
Next, the federal bank in the u.s. , is a private corporation, the " federal reserve" is not federal. Don't believe me.fact check me. The u.s. is addicted to debt. That debt will never be payed off. But strangely the rest of the world base their value of their currencies off U.S.D $.
Im from western Canada, i think the west would join instantly. Ontario an Quebec would throw a fuss tho cause they rely so heavily on us
As a Canadian, if each Canadian gets $ 10,million US up front in cash,
and tax free,( with inflation clause) I'd be all in for selling Canada to the US.
We Canadians be set for life, and the US, would gain a "very valuable: country"
loaded with natural resources ( water, gold, silver, and Oil. It would be a win, win
deal for both countries. Total value of the deal = $ 400 TRILLION US DOLLARS.
Only 18% of Albertans want to join. The west doesn’t want to join the 🇺🇸.
Imagine if all of North America was the USA, Borders are no longer a problem. The whole continent is now the US Border.
You could do that without all the countries becoming part of the USA. That's what you have with the European Union. Independent sovereign States with free movement of people goods and services across the EU. External borders are strictly enforced allowing internal borders to be open. It does require some commonality however in immigration laws.
Horrible idea. why cant we just focus on our nation instead of fucking up everyone elses shit? now were just being just as bad as russia.
I'm Canadian, and I would support the idea, a peaceful transition obviously, but I'm not sure the majority of Canadians would sign up, especially Quebec, they would never support that, that's the main reason why Canada is bilingual, they wanted to hold on to their French traditions and they still want to.
We should join the union under a common constitution dump the crown and remain sovereign and unique. We’ve been destroyed, we are cousins and deserve freedom
People like you always complain about freedom but when I ask what freedoms do you not have in Canada, nobody can give an answer that makes sense.
As a Canadian I welcome this, this would be the best thing for Canada and the USA. We become the undisputed world superpower unless China and Russia combine. I want a strong dollar and cheap Amazon goods!
Honestly he should knock it off with the Canada stuff. It's pretty insulting first of all and second I am not sure how serious he is or isn't but there is zero chance they are being annexed by the US and less than zero chance they would volunteer to join so its just a stupid distraction. And I am a big Trump fan but it's really absurd... we have enough problems to fix here without this nonsense.
Trump is just there for appearances tbh. He trolls and says wild stuff bc it distracts and creates discussion. Seriously doubt he’s making any decisions
Canadians will probably welcome us a liberators and if we got Greenland as well thats just icing on the cake
He’s trolling lol.
As a Canadian, I'm in. Where do I sign ? 😆 Canada never made sense to me given its land mass and resources but a population of 40million, barely. What would be possible is an American union such as The European Union. The AU such as the EU.
Even talking about a Canadian annexation is beyond absurd. That's something that might be done over decades, but it won't just happen.
thats why talking about it is good. start the process
@@tomdemay6147 Why is it good? We don't want this.
@@RB-.- Majority of Canadians want to join now that Trump is going to be the president.
@@RB-.- we don't care what you want. 😂
@@halo27legend who is the we you’re speaking for? Because if you claim to be conservative or republican, you’ll never win another election if you annex canada. Never.
The Canadian constitution requires the votes of Parliament and all ten provincial legislatures and in practise the support of all eleven governments in order to cede sovereignty to the U.S.
I'm all for joining the US but has to be a good deal for Canada.
Getting the best American president leading you is a brilliant deal.
If Canada becomes our state there will not be a "Canada' anymore.
Nah
Um... No thanks. Canada is fine as it is now. We had our big fight with America when we first came over, and we are OK with being different from America. Yes we have many similar ideals and culture, but we still like our independence and freedom, it's our government that is holding us back right now, but trust me, that is going to be resolved come the next election.
We should let the provinces vote on becoming a part of the U.S. and then go from there. This would be a great idea. I would buy a plot of land in the mountains and build a summer cabin.
A vote among Provinces will not hold.
I take it that the saying "44 40 or fight" is still in play.
54 40
Canada will never become a state, but 9 provinces could become 9 states, with relative ease, it is a confederation after all.😉
As a Canadian Id say you’re the only american commentator Ive seen who has a good understanding of Canada and the different regional mentalities.
Trump, please don't make a mistake like Reagan.
What mistake did Reagan make?
As a Canadian, I'd love to join America and have Trump as my President :)
Merry Christmas everyone!
