This is a good illustration of humanity at its best - both the film makers and their subjects: the city of Rio de Janeiro, its people and its amazing festival. Thanks for sharing this!
Magnificent, makes it so special, especially the background music. I think I can appreciate the parade much more now. I think the music of carnaval is still my favourite bit though.
For those wanting an explanation. When you tilt the lens of a camera, it tilts the plane of focus. It allows you to throw the edges of the frame, that would be in focus, out of focus. Excellent use of the technique here. Thanks for the link Stephen.
I just linked '1080P Showcase' through my Roku, and watched this on my 60" HDTV. It is the most incredible thing I've ever seen on a television screen.
Every time I watch one of Keiths films I am blown away. I have goosebumps. This was absolutely stunning. Just such beautiful work. Great job both Keith and Jarbas on bringing us this most beautiful film...thank you so much. :)
congratulations to this amazing work! So special! And I love the "Batucada" played by the strings! So nice camera work and unbelievable editing... thumbs up, very inspiring!
This vid is unbelivable ! Rio is amazing, that is why its called the Wonderfull City ! Im in love for my town. Even the Carnaval is beautiful, full of collors, even i dont like it i recognize its amazing.
@keithloutit Man, this is art in its purest form! One of the best tilt-shift videos I ever saw! Don´t have words to describe it. Congratulations from a brazilian!
Love this city and tilt shift / time laps way of filming/editing!!! Bravo! Was in Rio for a week in oktober 2014 and never felt unsafe. But don't ignore the local rules/tips about what not to do / were not to go!
The world is a huge big game and we are all tiny little toys playing worlwide, and Keith Loutit is the wizard of our visions. Awesome video, tiltshift at the best!
I've been to the Mardi Gras in New Orleans many times, but this takes Mardi Gras to a whole new level. I've never seen anything like it. And Rio must be the most beautiful city in the world.
How? It's a series of photographs taken every 2 seconds yeah? The clarity is unbelievable! The city scales are amazing! I wouldn't be surprised if other cities around the world hire you two for a tourism campaign!!
Oh.... My... Fucking.... God.... That was breathtaking and amazingly, wonderfully, marvelously beautiful... I'm brazilian and I never saw carnival parades or even Rio de Janeiro in this way... You're a great artist... You carry a unique vision with you... Thanks for this video!
"Tilt-shift photography" refers to the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene. Sometimes the term is used when the shallow depth of field is simulated with digital post-processing; the name may derive from the tilt-shift lens normally required when the effect is produced optically.
Wow! That was amazing. A true piece of film art. Congrats on making it, Keith. That parade was spectacular. I loved the quick shot of Jaws coming up and eating some swimmer on a float. The amount of time, effort and money put into those elaborate creations is staggering. Blows the Rose Parade away. LOL
Fine work as usual, mate! Music is simply brilliant too, translating samba into a more intense tune as to match the timelapse effect! Congrats to the both of you and keep up with the amazing work!
Sublime, maravilhoso, incrível, espetacular,retumbante......... Nenhum destes adjetivos são suficientes para descrever o que senti ao ver este vídeo. É, simplesmente, uma obra de arte!
I had to look up tilt shift photography - had no clue what it was. This video must have entailed a massive amount of work. Looks like every single frame had to be manipulated. Wow. Very cool!
That helicopter shot is amazing.

Tilt-Shift in perfection. Incredibly awesome work! Great usage of masks and soulful editing..

Lindo, o efeito dessa técnica que deixa o real parecendo miniatura é fascinante!
Tilt shift really gives you the impression that anything is possible in this tiny world we live in. I couldn't take my eyes off the video. Good stuff
Incredible, our beautiful Carnival well retratado.I from São Paulo, but I confess that the way the city stands is really marvelous for words.
I just linked '1080P Showcase' through my Roku, and watched this on my 60" HDTV.
It is the most incredible thing I've ever seen on a television screen.
