    THIS STORY:
    American Airlines Flight 191 was a regularly scheduled passenger flight operated by American Airlines from O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, to Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California. On May 25, 1979, the McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10 operating this flight was taking off from runway 32R when it crashed into the ground after the left engine detached. All 258 passengers and 13 crew on board were killed, along with two people on the ground. With 273 fatalities, it is the deadliest aviation accident to have occurred in the United States.

    Thank you Ron for posting this video about my sister Kathy. As time goes on people forget
    or don’t know about this terrible tragedy they took the lives of so many innocent people. Thank God due to technology and redundant systems, there has never been a Airline disaster with fatalities larger than 191 in the United States. Thanks again.

    Kathy Adduci was my babysitter. I’m not kidding. She worked at South Sub with my Dad- she would baby sit us when my parents went on vacation. I was only about 10 years old when this happened-but I will never forget my Mom coming into my room to tell me she was on that flight. She was obviously very upset..she started to braid my hair and told me what happened. My parents went to her services. I also remember meeting the mother of one of her friends who was on that flight... she worked at the same hospital.

      Especially if it lands in a residential area. When PSA 182 went down there were bodies and parts of bodies on roofs, yards, in trees, even in people's houses. One body was strapped in a seat in someone's kitchen, another was in a car windshield. Decades afterwards, people would sometimes find little pieces of the airplane or a piece of bone. One resident found a finger. I suppose these were between houses, in bushes, in the ground, under shingles or in curved clay tiles that some houses in the southwestern U.S. have.

    Was an awful tragedy. I was living in a nearby suburb (Park Ridge) at the time, could see the thick, billowing black smoke rising into the sky. Just west of the trailer park, at the corner of Touhy and Elmhurst, there stood multiple fuel reserve silos. Its about a good stones throw away from where the impact occured. If it had crashed into them, there is no telling the amount of devastation the area would have suffered. Keep up your good work, Ron! God bless!

We don't know what all might drive a person to that desperation, but God is a loving and all knowing God. Only he knows the answer to that, but a person would have to be very troubled to go through with ending their own life. I can relate to this story as I grew up in Homewood IL. and graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor High School (before she did). Also, I was a flight attendant who flew the DC-10 a lot to Hawaii, and was flying for Western Airlines, which became Delta Airlines, and living in San Francisco, so this story hits close to home. I also had a car very similar to hers (a red 1979 Camaro Z-28) It's so very sad! She was so beautiful.

    May they all rest in peace who died in this terrible incident. I hope in time that you can make it to Pennsylvania and do a vlog on flight 93 from the hijacking who had all the passengers pray and prepare for their deaths on the phone with their families sacraficing their lives for the country after they heard about the twin towers and Pentagon on the phones prior to the decision to die for the country.
    Those fighting the terrorist to save other's on the ground was honorable but the country really needs to keep those honorable people and their families in our hearts for their sacrafice. That crash has effected me personally and I am sure the country just like this 191 crash had done there.

      @supportyourtroopsathletes6460 3 года назад +3

      @@carolhutchinson7763 ... They had a few knives on 93, not many however, the one pilot was killed by the terrorist immediantly once they made themselves known and the second was killed shortly after the heros on the plane attempted to take back the plane fighting them off. One passenger had flight experience but of course the remaining two teriorist fought strong where he had no chance to get behind the controls. I do know the staff was instructed to grab anything to use as a weapon before the heros was planning on taking over the plane. I respect all those who have their lives for the country. And respect the heros for having the unabled passangers prepare in prayer and instructions with their families prior to sacrificing their lives.
      One of the heros was a trained fighter and the terrorist were trained also before the hyjacking. It was situation that nobody Should ever need to be in . As a trained fighter former martial arts instructor from the Dade county public schools (Ives judo team) in north Miami Beach and previously served in the armed forces,this incident really hurt. I would of gladly died onboard that plane in exchange for hostage release with the other gentleman.

    My mom was cabin crew back in the late 1960s, she was sitting on the jump seat at the back of the plane and the door next to her flew off its hinges onto the runway. Luckily the plane was the pint v2 so they were able to abort the flight. My dad worked for British airways and one of his colleagues was sucked out the cockpit window and had to be held by his legs so he wouldn’t go any further . They managed to land the plane thank goodness. I still love flying and tried many times to follow in my moms footsteps, sadly my height has always been against me as I am only 5’2 and would only get through some of the interviews :(

My kids said i freaked n pushed thru the crown, ran down the stairs n across the runway! They said they never saw me run so fast. Since then, i cant b near a plane! I tried to squash my fears by working at the airport but even after 5 years as Manager, i was n am terrorized by airplanes! My mother grew up in an isolated village in the North of the St Lawrence, Quebec. I heard many stories about the bush pilots who lived in or frequented the village. I have a profound respect for bush pilots. They're probably some of the best pilots in the world. So respect to you, Ron. Is there anything you don't do? Next video, "Did I ever tell you guys about that time I walked on the moon?" LOL
    Kudos to those children and school who made that lovely memorial. May the gods smile upon them. That was bad maintenance practices btw. Anytime a mechanic/s work on something it should always be completed by them, aka overtime. It's a common practice within industrial manufacturing, the automotive industry, etc. So you'd think the same practice would have applied to airlines?! I predict that AA wanted to save pennies, overtime, by having the following shift finish bolting the engine back on. All within reasoning btw but that was purely negligent on their behalf. The Adduci family suffered way too much tragedy. That poor father who suffer so much that he took his life. Such a freak'n shame.
    My condolences for your best friend, Daryl. Thank you for sharing his life with us. Every time you find yourself out in nature may he walk beside you in spirit.

    Thank you Ron for this story. At the time of this tragic incident I was working at McDonnell Douglas building the aircraft and my husband worked at one of the airlines at LAX. So this accident affected us as well. He was a mechanic and had done many engine changes using the correct engine hoist that was engineered to raise and lower the engine to the pylon. This incident was so preventable as you know. When all of the DC-10’s were grounded it was incredibly difficult for us working for the company knowing that it was an incredible airplane ✈️. We had to keep our chin’s up and continue making the Best aircraft in the world as we heard incorrect stories about our planes and the company that we loved. So thanks for telling this story and sharing the short life of that wonderful woman 👩 who was just starting out in life. Take care, Leslie
