Irritated skin is exactly why I started using DE razors and now these SE razors. I'm very impressed with twig. I was told the thorn gets closer. What's your preshave routine? Do you use an oil?
@@FashionableFather Yeah there is a guy on youtube who shaves one half of his head with twig, other with thorn. Thorn is closer. But he also does an interesting thing. He double stacks the blades in both razor. I.e, 2 single edge blades atop another. You could try that. Personally id take comfort over a super duper close shave atm. It still looks bald to me yano. No man. Just warm water, and let the foam sink in. I got a brush there and some cream, so gona try that. But I get rash even using a foil shaver yano? I only shave my neck, and might do my head in the future.
I wholeheartedly believe in a pre-shave oil. For a while i shaved with only an oil. The rare times I’ve skipped and used only a soap; I had a rough shave.
@@FashionableFather hmm maybe. I think the skin may just need time to adopt. I wonder how blokes in the 1900s got away without all the things we have today.
Great review. I want to try something other than cartridge blades which really irritates my face and I've been between this and the Supply SE. Your beard seems to grow in much heavier than mine so I think something a little less aggressive like those two would work for me so I'm definitely looking forward to you doing a comparison between these razors.
Nice review. I recommend you try a Nacet blade in the Twig. I tried a few different blades in the Twig and got a super close nick free shave with them…. This combo is one of my top favorite and best shaves. The Twig beats out just about every razor I’ve tried including super expensive top name razors…. I was also very surprised because at first glance it doesn’t look like it would be intuitive at all. It even seemed scary aggressive until I tried it. Blades are key though, so people curious about this razor shouldn’t be discouraged if it doesn’t shave well right away. You will most likely need to experiment with different blades until you find the one that works best for you and your face / beard type. It’s definitely an engineering masterpiece that does everything well.
@@FashionableFather The Nacet just seems to work well for me. They are sharp, yet very smooth. I’m sure other blades will work well but YMMV. Just need to see what works best for you, and what might work for me might not work for you.,
Maybe you can review the Reuzel Shaving Cream? Have this cream for a few days now and really like the experience. It's a cream that works (the best) without using a brush.
Looks like you might want to try the Thorn version, which has a lower clearance and is made for thicker stubble. Might explain the results being not as close as you'd like. I heard about this video via a Leaf email, so maybe they'll just send you one? They should, anyway.
Get yourself the best razor ever made, the Karve Overlander or Henson AL 13. Both razors are mild, efficient, and won't cut you. Also, you don't have to snap blades.
Yeah the supply’s are not as intuitive; but I like the closeness. If you’re having trouble with the pro and still can return I would suggest that. They’re both great. It’s what you have the most pleasure using.
@@FashionableFather In brand new, both the Rockwell 6c at $60 and/or the Rockwell 2c at $40 are excellent. The Merkur 34c at $50 (?) is great. The Wilkinson Sword Classic at $6 and the Wilkinson Sword TTO at $15 are very good. And in the vintage market, you can get Gillette Superspeeds and/or Techs in great condition that shave very well for under $50, sometimes way under $50, depending on where you find them, Take care
Tim has tried many razors, you need to pay attention, he knows what he is talking about.
I get awful skin rash, which is why this intrigues me the most I think.
Plus the simplicity as you said.
I think youve sold me on it.

Why specifically the Nacet? Just curious. I agree with all you say here. Thank you.

You’re the second to recommend the Thorn. I might reach out to them; thanks for the inspiration. And thanks for watching.
I like you can shop different blades which can save costs vs buying blades like supply which you have to use their blades.
You can use different blades with supply. They’re injector blades. Many brands make them including schick and feather; amzn.to/3EDURs5

I definitely want to try that Henson.
Can this razor last a lifetime like safety razors? It looks durable.
I would imagine so, but I’ll let you know in my 20 year review.
Do you like this or the supply pro more? I’m having trouble with the pro

You might have liked the Thron better. It's more aggressive 🍃💚
I just went with my first choice. Should’ve read a little closer, now I wish I had tried the thorn.
Would this razor be best for beginners
Yes, very much so. Its not crazy close which I think is good for beginners.
What the difference between a regular double edge razor and the twig??
I feel the twig is very forgiving and intuitive in comparison to a double edge shave wise.
What's the best closest shave DE safety razor?
The only way I’ll weigh in is this vid; ruclips.net/video/Au-VOPDmrZ8/видео.html. The Rockwell was close, but spoiler I didn’t love it in the end.
You can buy a travel case also
Really?? That would be convenient.
From Amazon that’s were I bought mine
And the case also from there
the Twig is a decent razor, but for the money there are better razors out there, if priced at 30 bucks it would be worth it
Any recommendations?

You want to shave against the grain as well to get all the hair off
For me this a must. For people who get ingrowns I wouldn’t always recommend.
