This is a series called "Public Nuts" where we document individuals that are acting like a nutcase in public. In this episode we document motorists not signaling their turn signals while changing lanes.
California Vehicle Code
Vehicle Code § 22108 VC is the California statute that requires motorists to signal before turning or changing lanes. The language of the code section reads that: “Any signal of intention to turn right or left shall be given continuously during the last 100 feet traveled by the vehicle before turning.”
A driver that violates Vehicle Code 22108 must pay a fine of $238.00. A motorist that does not signal also receives one point on their DMV driving record.
Recording in public spaces is 1st Amendment Protected Activity. What your eyes can see cannot be trespassed; there are no expectations to privacy while out in public areas.
