Hello there, I've done everything step by step, but when i get to the partitions i can't delete partition 1 and 2. And Partition 3 and 4 (Recovery Part) give me the Error "We couln't delete the selected partition. Error: 0x80070017". Any solution for that?
@@TeflDude I'm having the same issue but also BitLocker is stopping me from removing the primary partition. I've tried disabling it through CMD but it won't work. The Surface is stuck in a recovery loop so I wanted to do a fresh install. Proving to be a nightmare!

I have just installed my surface pro with the new 2020 version - clean install, exactly as shown here and it is fine. My keyboard worked fine. I would need to see if you did any small thing different than my instructions. Let me know, it has to be followed exactly. What surface brand? what iso? There is a lot I do not know.

The reason I am redoing the surface is because the keyboard stopped working and the usb does not work in windows 10, I get a code 10. Tried to reinstall drivers, and update and the usual stuff to get the USB working but to no avail. So everything works fine and according to your steps until I reach step 9, then I can´t communicate with the surface and the USB stick goes dark. I tried using a USB hub and connect a mouse but I still get stuck at point 9. No touch screen, no keyboard no USB, do you have touch screen functionality when you do it? If the keyboard is bad for some reason I can use a usb one later on but the USB has to work. I can boot normally into windows 10 latest build I believe, installed a bunch of updates yesterday but no USB, or keyboard, touchscreen works. Very strange
@@TeflDude and I have power to the keyboard, I can change the backlight level, it is a microsoft keyboard. I can also use a USB mouse in bios but not when I get to point 9. There is power on the USB port, the power LED on my USB port extensioner is lit, but anything attached to it goes out. USB 3 thing?? no driver (but it works when in bios...) Corded laser mouse no wireless stuff. Wifi works, spekaers work
@@pmgear Sorry. Not much I can do. If it is hardware problem, due to some damage then nothing much you can do but send it back, as it is impossible to open these without breaking them.

My Surface Pro only has a single USB port and that's when the flash drive is connected. The touchscreen does not seem to be active during the initial setup screens so I have no way of clicking next or anything else. What can I do?
I've done exactly what you have said, but it gives me a BitLock error, to boot from the internal drive which I do not want to do, I want to boot from the USB drive.
Exactly???? 1. Make sure usb pendrive is 8gb minimum and usb3 stick is best (it has a blue edge colour. 2. Use RUFUS - iso has to be configured GPT, UEFI, Fat32 before pressing START (sometimes the Fat32 changes back to NTFS before you click START). 3. IN BIOS - Make sure to CHANGE 'Secure boot configuration' to 'NONE'. 4. Turn off 'Boot configuration lock'.- If one of these steps was missed, it will not work. On a Surface pro 5 (2017) There is no possibility for it not to work. It is a machine and needs to be told these things. Good Luck.

My computer is very slow, with only 4 GB of RAM, so I figured I would install Windows 10 32 BIT on it. I installed Rufus on my Windows XP machine and tried to do it from there, but then I realized my machine didn't even detect the flash drive.

hi i can only get as far as the drive screen , i only have one drive showing with 238.5gb of unallocated space ,but when drive is selected and Next clicked it comes up with "We couldn't install Windows in the location you chose please check your media drive " error code 0x80300024 Could it be my ssd is toast ? thanks for any advice
@@TeflDude thanks very much for the reply usb is fat 32 . i think the fact that the ssd drive doesn't show any other partitions may be an ssd problem as i know it has files on there but is showing empty i did google to see if i could maybe install windows on a micro sd card and run it off there but the answer seems to be no from what I've read so far. installing a new ssd drive looks like a bit of a process as i doubt i could remove the screen without damaging it many thanks Andy
I have a DVD burner (USB) connected to ac-powered USB hub. What if I download a bigger version (a lot more than 4GB) of Win10 OS iso image via Rufus 3.14, and then burn it to double-layer DVD. I believe it would work.... I wonder. TIA for your help.

Unfortunately I can't for the life of me manage to get the Surface pro 5 (2017) to boot from the boot drive. I've reinstalled windows on desktops dozens of times and for some reason this one just won't boot from it. Followed your rufus guide, tried also just creating a usb image using the official installer, disabling all other alternative boot options (it just repeatedly shows the win logo on boot) and have no idea how to get this to work. My surface pro keeps loading to a surface uefi loop. I downloaded the surface recovery image, extracted on to a usb drive. At the surface UEFI screen, I configured secure boot to none and boot configuration to usb and exit. This brings me to a choose language startup, went to troubleshoot and recover from a drive option, tried just remove my files and fully clean the drive, but both ended abruptly at early stage saying problem resetting your pc. Desperate here, any advice/suggestions??
This is not a video on how to install a "surface recovery image". It is for a clean install of a windows 10 iso file. It works 100% if you follow exactly the instructions. Once you start veering onto a different path, then you need a different instructional video. Why are you not doing a clean install?????
Ok I was able to download your iso file, went thru some successful prompts but as I started to feel a promising thought that this will work I was prompted at the windows setup page where the only drive 0 was available to proceed, but when i clicked next it says couldnt install in the location you chose, check media drive 0x80300002 error; any thoughts??
A virus threat from who. to some virus softwares, everything they are not in control of is a "potential" virus. antiviruses themselves are a kind of virus that hog your pc resourses. There is no virus on it. However, I do have the new 1909 version of w10 for this size and will upload it tonight in 8 hours time when I have better band width..
Thanks for your help! I did manage to get this working after much fiddling. I used a VPN to download the file because it wouldn't complete the download without it. I had trouble installing it as well as the virus threat. I was downloading from one surface pro onto the USB then using that USB to do a completely new install on an older surface pro. When I downloaded it, it came with a warning of the virus threat "HackTool:Win32/WinActivator" I couldn't open on the old s/pro so I had to format the USB (not using Rufus) first, then follow your instructions up until computer restart, even though it was a new USB. Then the partition wasn't available. So, formatted the USB again then started from scratch. Made sure the old s/pro was off by force shutdown. Then put USB in and switched on. I then deleted all partitions and repeated the steps from beginning. After a few tries, it finally worked :)

This is latest 2020 May edition. I split the file for you. Simply open up the iso using 7zip or winrar or anything and simply copy all files onto a pendrive which you have formatted to be fat32. drive.google.com/file/d/1QCIqRwbaW8P_dhumVNEkotUP5L7V0uby/view?usp=sharing
No problem as I split file 'installwim' 4.2gb to 2 files, 'instalswm' = 3.90gb and 'install2.swm' = 474mb - then deleted the 'installwim' 4.2gb file. That's because you are trying to restore previous owners windows private installation. Do a clean install as I have shown.

not working! It keeps popping up the BitLocker and ask for the Recovery key. So bad!
This works foolproof if you follow ALL the steps IN ORDER. This is for a clean install, you are trying to do a recovery which is not what this is.
When I try to start the operation it show me a message that says "This is no able to run in FAT32" so I need to change it to NTFS :(
what is IT, what is your device? What is THIS is no able to run FAT32. This is for Surface pro 5th gen only. And it works this way only 100%.

You could be right? But this statement also comes up if you are trying to install NTFS instead of fat 32. And your hard drive should be gpt.

It went out OK. after clean installation, installing "SurfacePro_Win10_18362_21.05114292.msi" did the trick.
Can this Iso be used on pcs other than surface pros?
Yes and I plan to upload the latest iso. later today
remember this iso is less than 4 gb so or it will not be able to fit the fat32 criteria. if you want for other pc make it ntfs

This is latest 2020 May edition. I split the file for you. Simply open up the iso using 7zip or winrar or anything and simply copy all files onto a pendrive which you have formatted to be fat32.

No problem as I split file 'installwim' 4.2gb to 2 files, 'instalswm' = 3.90gb and 'install2.swm' = 474mb - then deleted the 'installwim' 4.2gb file.
