      Did you hear about the mother who drove 40 min. Only to be handcuffed by the police. Than she mangled to convince cops to let her out. She ran past them and entered the school. Grabbed her two kids and escaped with them.

    The police acted like they were security guards waiting for the police. Who else is allowed to help if the police wont do it while preventing others from helping. They have way too much power to prevent you from saving your child if they wont do it. Absurd.

      The supreme has ruled cops have no obligation to protect anyone. They no longer protect and serve they people. Their main responsibility is to generate revenue for the state. Protect yourself and your family because the government could care less about the people they are supposed to serve

    I really don’t care, I’m saying it, it is completely shameful that the story keeps changing but one thing is for sure, parents desperately wanted to get inside to their kids and the cops just TOTALLY blew it all the way around and their stories are STILL changing. This is unbelievable and I am completely disgusted, and I also know well that the story will continue to evolve in the best manner to protect the police department. That said, my heart aches for those little children and teachers and their families. Just so terrible, just so incredibly terrible.

      Many people do jobs for pay, and this isn’t restricted from military or law enforcement. They thought about it in the long term and didn’t try to be a hero, knowing they would be paid all the same. That is a problem now, because now they are “sacrificing” other people’s lives to benefit their own.

    Why was the SRO driving back to the school? The teacher who heared the shots and called 911 should have alerted everyone and the school go into immediate lock down. The SRO should have been checking entrances to make sure they were locked. So many failures.

    I think the Most important event is the FIRST shot at the funeral place, the trigger. The first shot at school = Rampant violence, which calls for ALL officer to stop the shooting at all cost. Also, all elementary school shooting calls for STOP shooting immediately.

    The person that said the schools should have gone on lockdown when the call by the grandmother was made to 911 was absolutely correct. THAT should have triggered a stat notice to all to lock down. Not only to schools but to all public services. I live in a rural area but that is exactly what happens here. I work in a local hospital and have been in many lockdowns due to public violence.

      @@catsberry4858 procedures are put in place so we don't have to have this discussion. School doors are locked except the front door. To enter you need to get past the guard at the door. This was put in place since the last school incident 10 years ago. When you drive past a school look for a n police car. This is the reason their there.

    WOW- being in the Public service this is just disgraceful, The parents trying to get into the school did more than the Police did, and on top of that when the parents were trying to help they got attacked by the police, at moments like this you are greater in numbers and the Public has the right to protect their family's when the very people we pay with our hard earned tax money fail to protect life

    All scams follow the same pattern. They have four steps:
    1. Shock the target with upsetting news.
    2. Make the target afraid that some inevitable, horrible thing is going to happen to them soon.
    3. Provide a solution (the actual scam).
    4. Get the target to act on the solution as fast as possible, while still caught up in the shock and panic created by Steps 1 and 2.

    There is a pattern of cowardice established by policy. "Hero" should not be given to anyone that is acting within the parameters of their job description. It's a special word that shouldn't lose it's potency, reserved for acts outside the scope of what's expected of an employee. This will change the general attitudes of first responders...perhaps their pay scale as well.

    Deploy 40,000 National Guard troops (4 per school). That police force, and probably others, aren't prepared for that level of confrontation. Military weapons require a military response. America is stuck with guns guns guns forever.

    Somebody needs to get relieved of duty over the mishandling of this. What were the cops thinking..." I wonder which the gunman will run out of first, bullets or victims?" COPS, WHEN YOU'RE GEARED UP & ARMED, GET YOU A** IN THERE, NEUTRALIZE THE SHOOTER AND SAVE THE KIDS. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. IT'S YOUR JOB THAT DAY, THAT HOUR, THAT MINUTE!
    Edit: Parents who have a concealed carry permit and have taken a certified training/qualifying course should be allowed to serves as volunteer security at their children's school. Just the fact that they are present on the campus would be a deterrent, and I'm pretty sure they would not stand around "waiting for orders" in a shooter on campus situation like the official's did here. It was CRIMINAL!
