  • Its a rainy day today so we are in the sawmill sawing 6x8 cants with our Woodmizer LT-40 sawmill! Then, the colts are out so we have to get the escape artists back into the barn!
    Watch our videos to learn about draft horses- horse logging, horses farming, and horse training! Jim uses Belgian, Percheron, and Suffolk horses to do work on the farm and in the woods. He teaches about harnesses, horse-drawn logging and farming equipment, horse feeding and maintenance, and voice commands for horses. New videos uploaded every week. Keep watching to see how Jim trains his new Suffolk Punch colts as he has trained his full-grown teams!

    I googled "cant" and got at as many answers as there were contributors ... the common thread was at least 2 inches thick and set aside for end user to finish as needed. Love the beginning scene with horse running in from the field to the stable ... that's good photography. Always enjoy visiting your YT channel.

    Great job Jim and Brenda, wow the sight of that bread brought back some memories!. and also of way back when we were dealing hay for a living. my wife Carli and I both worked loading and unloading the truck, between 380-400 bales on each load. and we hauled 3-5 loads a week. from you're neck of the woods (Finger lakes /weedsport area down to Long Island upper NJ and lower Ct. to mainly stables but had couple dairy farms also for the second cutting. and once in a blue moon 3rd cutting on a good year. you two work great together and it's a lot harder than it looks here on the video with all the other work we don't get to see. thank you so much for sharing and God Speed. It just seems when it rains someone is trying to cause a food shortage, late crops, etc. Joy feels my heart when you have so much other work to do you can tell the weather makers fine with me I'll just saw and fill another order for wood. My eyes popped out when I saw how much bread was there, then the Kale sausage soup was icing on the cake. We have a neighbor who uses Kale in a lot of dishes as a caterer. Very good combination. She sends us the left overs, after an event for the pigs. But they do not get the good stuff. I could watch Earl running and galloping and kicking up his heels all day long. Running right into the barn. Fantastic.

    The old barn makes a nice sawmill set up. What about a couple clear roofing panels replacing a couple steel panels, for more natural light. The new poly carbonate panels let in a lot more light and last a lot longer than the old fiberglass panels.

    • @johnking8679
      @johnking8679 2 года назад

      Yes Jim - those new clear roofing panels spaced correctly could certainly give you a much improved natural lighting in your barn. Try a couple and see if you like them. Should save you a few $$ off the old electric bill !!

    I sure do enjoy seeing a good wife and husband team working together. That's always been a dream of mine. But it just wasn't in the cards for me. I have a good wife, she just don't like helping me do things. Like woodwork, gardening, and such things that makes you get your hands dirty. She told me this year she wanted a large garden so I asked what she wanted me to start growing to be ready when the larger raised garden beds were built. Will I'm disabled and there's few things I can do on my own. So I told her back the first part of March what I needed help with building the beds and such. Well the man brought the dirt yesterday as planed, BUT the beds still aren't built. I'm not sure what I'm going to do.. I'm nursing some cracked ribs from a fall, so that just adds more to my limitations of what I can do. I asked for help today and she wasn't feeling good. So I just lay here nursing these ribs that hurt extremely BAD with every breath.... But praise God this too will pass soon... LOL... So that's why I love seeing wives willing to work with their husbands.... LOL... Y'all be blessed in Jesus name...BBE...
