Absolutely gorgeous, yes gorgeous works for that. Red is the center of attraction. But that red turned out fantabulistic, yes fantabulistic is a word I'm Anthony Jordan and I approve this message. Awesome work! awesome. You always do outstanding detailed work in your videos and I cannot thank you enough for creating this channel. As always God bless all, and may you all be blessed in all your endeavors, be safe. OUT STANDING 👍🏻👍🏻
Clinton thank you and your family & all whom you may have shared the word about what my wife had went through the last 4 months of her emergency spinal cord surgery. Her physical and occupational therapy is doing so good and so great she's making a remarkable progress. Just praying that no accidents happen she is scheduled to be discharged in 15 days. I'm going to have my sweetheart back by my side. God is great all the time.
For me this was very good to see. I'm a very beginner on arts stuff (wood, leather, etc) and I don't have portuguese (Yes, I'm from Portugal)videos. I know English language but sometimes is difficult to understand some expressions or words, specially about techniques and inks and varnishes or else...(I don't know if I come very clear with my English...sorry). Anyway I loved it and
Nicely Done! Liked the experimental process to find what works best for a project. The Cedar pops in all cases to me because of the grain. Your burning skills have really improved! Thanks for sharing this...now willing to give it a try. Keep up the great videos!
SL, the 1st thing you have to do after burning is hit the wood with a wire or plastic brush or sand paper 1st, wipe it down with a very lightly dampened cloth, THEN hit it with the stain & poly. Oil base, in my experience, is the best, not water base. 😊😊😊
Thank you for the video. I have a strange request from a customer that wants a Petal Pink coffee table..was thinking of using this technique. Not sure how it's gonna turn out but it's worth a try
I liked the look of this better than the straight burned wood. I REALLY like the red, it’s so rich looking. I may be biased though because red is my favorite color anyway. This makes me want to make something and use the red on it, and I don’t even do woodworking.
You should keep those as samplers, and add a note to the back of the product and process used. If you are doing a project in the future and you think it would look great in those colours you can compare. Thanks for all the great videos and keep up the good work.
Great info! The problem with this kind of stain is that they have a clear base but with some white pigment and a high-density formula, instead the stain you can prepare with alcohol or mineral spirit are pure color with a transparent agent. sometimes I use the same pigment I used to do Tie Dye T Shirt for my kids. But both ways work for different kind of people. I prefer a softer colorful wood and of course...cheaper. Thanks for share.
Yes please, a good video to watch and learn something that could be useful in future projects... I think it fits with the theme of your channel: The "Tricks and Tips" (or as you call them "Trips and ticks" in the bloopers 😁) but this is similar to Steve Ramsey did on Woodworkers for Mere Mortals, he experimented in several videos using natural stains from foods such as mustard, berries, and such on various woods, also did experiments on different spray paints (how long to shake and apply), etc. I think it does the community good to sometimes (once in a while) focus on techniques than project builds... I guess you can watch the RUclips stats on your channel to see if these get any traction, but personally, I love them.
@@SpecificLove7 I think you earned that honor, and you're your own style of woodworking that is unique and I like the idea of having variety in problem solving and aesthetics, I watch a number of other channels as I'm sure you do also; It's not about the quality of video production, or their skill level as a maker per se, but they all have something interesting to say without stepping on each other's channels or ideas. And I know it is work because you need to continuously come up with fresh new content for your channel while you are making the videos and editing them... I am lucky to put out a video once a year on my channel, if that! LOL, so far I've got 2 vids on my Halloween haunts... so I don't envy being a full-time YT creator, although it is intriguing.
Im confused (but not complaining) why you removed so much of the stain so quickly. Im gonna try this soon on poplar, and wanting the color to really pop with a darker shade of cobalt. If I leave the color on a little longer to get the blue deeper into the pores, would I be in for trouble?
With this type of stain, usually the longer you leave it on makes it harder to see the natural grain of the wood. But give it a try and let me know how it works out.
I like them... with the charring of the outer surface though, I kinda thought that they should set longer to absorb more... A fresh, blonde board would definitely absorb them better... just my opinion though...
Just subscribed to your amazing channel. Have you made any videos with fitness equipment using pvc. What about outdoor games for adults. Lawn games ya know? Cornhole..etc.. :)
I really like the White!!!! They all look really good! Experimental videos are good, we all learn.
Very true and thank you
I like seeing others "experiments"; saves me some time. Loved the cedar the best. Blue for a beachy feel, but man, that red pops really well!!!
Good call, the blue is definitely beachy
That red cedar board is gorgeous!!😍
You are right
Awesome look for projects. Keep up the great work as the goal is for us to continue to inspire others to build something awesome! 👍🏼
Thanks I.B.
Love the red! thanks for doing this!
Wow! the red is amazing! from Japan
Great! I'm about to do some staining, and BOY this HELPED!!
Good to see a RUclipsr with the sense to wear a silicon ring in a workshop instead of a metal (lose the flesh off your finger bone) ring
You are correct! I definitely want to keep my finger.

red on cedar looks sick!! 🙌 i tried some wood burning before, but never stained it. have to give this a try sometime. 👌
Definitely give it a try
Thank you so much for doing this video. I'm new to shou sugi ban and was toying with what colors to use, this helped a lot.
I like all of your videos. Thanks
Thanks Jeffrey
that's beautiful
I enjoyed your video, I like to learn new things. So I enjoyed it, great work.
Thanks Brent
Looks very impressive. I will have to give it a try. Thank you.
Thanks Peter

Wow love the looks! now I have to think of a project I can use that with
Thanks Dave, you will love it
Very cool experiment
I think it was a great experiment.
Did a farmhouse table with the barn red stain and burnt pine. Came out amazing
That is Awesome! Thanks for letting us know.
I would love to have seen that poly on the natural cedar and pine.
Looks great. I'll have to do that for my cleats!
Like them all 😉
Thanks

Good job 👍👍. That would be good samples to your customers. Then u can make them. ☕🇨🇦🍿
Very good point, I didn't even think about that.

If you try woodworking, you just might get hooked 😁
Can you share the exact Varithane color codes you used for these? Great stuff!

Good idea, and thank you
Yeah this was great. I have to make a bed that looks “beachy”, so this may help
That sounds like a great project
Try using steel wool to make the grain pop, and then a flat top coat.

Red looks very cool and blue is nice also.
What do you think would happen if you stained First and then charred?
I have not tried it but I was told that it would just burn off the color.
@@SpecificLove7 I thought that mighty happen. Just curious. Thanks for sharing your experiment with us!
Maravilhoso 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What's the name of that red? I really like how it turned out. Thanks for the great video.
Always like to see something different, perhaps you could consider using different colours like yellows, orange or maybe green
Thanks Alan, I definitely hope to do that in the future, this time I was just trying to use what I had.

How to you finish "varnish" after staining ... what's best type substance and method?
What kind of paint is that white wash? Polyurethane or lacquer or oil based wash?
What if you stain first and then burn. what difference will it make

The grain is not as pronounced

Not yet on both of those, but maybe an interesting cornhole set in the future.
I did make a horseshoe pit, if you're interested in that
