      Yeah, I'm the same - I used to think I liked bigger phones, but smaller phones are so much more comfortable to use! I think the iPhone 15 will be very slightly smaller than the Pixel 8, but it would be interesting to see a comparison! Thanks for watching 👍

    Coming from a fellow S22 user, I think you may have just sold me on the Pixel 8 series.
    I completely agree with everything you've said about the S22 and even as a somewhat light user, the battery life gives me anxiety and has forced me to buy a power pack just in case the battery decides to deplete and leave me with less than 20% charge while I'm away from home and need the extra battery to make calls and look up bus and train timetables, etc.
    I've also been eager to try all the AI features of Google phones for at least a couple years now since the Pixel 6 and this might be the time to take the leap.
    With a trade in value of 275 pounds, it reduces the Pixel 8 Pro to less than 800 pounds which I think is a fair price for such a feature packed phone.

    • @arranpbrown

      I'd recommend watching my other videos on the Pixel 8 before you buy as I've been using it for over 2 months now - but still would highly recommend it! I've really enjoyed using it for the last couple of months and the battery alone is definitely better than the S22 which was my biggest pain point with that phone. Thanks for the super in-depth comment and I'm glad it wasn't just me who had such a terrible time with the S22! Cheers!

    Battery needs testing! 🔋🔌⚡

      Both of you are going to love Pixel phones. It's hard to explain. But there is no phone that offers the Pixel experience. Switched to the regular s23 because of the size. But the phone is just a bad overall experience. Decided to go with the pro 8 because my last few pixels have been budget (including the P5. Returned the 7 Pro and bought the s23) and the full pro experience is necessary for me this time around.

    Are you getting Free Pixel Buds Pro for the Pixel 8 or 8 pro. In America, Buds Pro only offered free on Pixel 8 Pro? At end of video, you said you got free buds ? I also have S22 for same reasons you mentioned Lmk please, Arran

    • @arranpbrown
      @arranpbrown  10 месяцев назад +2

      Getting free Pixel Buds Pro with the Pixel 8, not the Pro. In the UK, you can either get a free pair of Pixel Buds Pro or £200 off the Pixel Watch 2 - I chose the Pixel Buds Pro! If you go for the 8 Pro, you can get the Pixel Watch 2 for free on preorder, which is a pretty sweet deal tbh. The deals must be different in the US then!
      I guess with the exchange rate, we are actually paying more, so Google is probably making more from UK customers in terms of the mark up, so they can probably afford to do it here, and maybe not in the US?

    • @VeitLehmann
      @VeitLehmann 10 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely! I switched from the Pixel 2 to the Pixel 6 Pro 2 years ago. The Pixel 2 up to 5 had the perfect form factor. My current 6 Pro is just too large for me, I still couldn't really adjust to its size. But back then, the regular Pixel 6 was also quite chunky, and the Pixel 5 was already hard to get and didn't have a bright future in terms of support. So the 6 Pro was a natural choice for me. But it also has some hardware issues, it's just not as reliable as I had hoped. I'm sure that by now, Google figured it out and the Pixel 8 should be an amazing and hopefully reliable phone for years to come. The form factor is finally nice again, and the 7 years update promise is pretty amazing - this might be my next phone!

    Pixel uses exynoss chip and modem - you are switching to the same thing. G3 seems based off S21 - some customisation to the TPU.
    Some of the AI features are only pixel 8 pro - like on device Bard to summarise things. No autofocus on the selfie camera.
    Still, looking forward to your tests - I'd like to see multi-window / pop-up windows especially coming from samsung.
    Also if you can get rid of the widgets stuck on the Home Screen

    • @arranpbrown
      @arranpbrown  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yup, I'm aware of this, it's actually been pointed out several times in the comments already 😅. I'm hoping Google's software optimisation and the larger battery makes a substantial difference.
      On the point about the summarise feature - I'm 99% sure this is also coming to Pixel 8 as well as the pro. I know the zoom enhance feature is limited to the Pixel 8 Pro, but I'm almost certain summarise and Assistant with Bard are both coming to Pixel 8. I've looked around multiple articles (including Google's own) and can't find anything that says summarise isn't coming to Pixel 8 (but I could be wrong).
      Yup, I'm aware of the no autofocus in the selfie camera - doesn't bother me to be honest as I rarely take selfies 😅
      Sure, I'll see if I can test those things for you! Thanks for the comment - I appreciate you! 🙌

      Yeah, that's not too bad - in the video, mine had about 4 hours and 20 mins of battery life, but that was since the last full charge and I charged it up slightly multiple times in between that time - the battery life is just terrible for me haha. Hopefully the Pixel turns out to be better, but only time will tell! I'll be doing a 3 months later review I think, so we can see if the battery life holds up after an extended period of time too. I've also been a-thinking lately. Do I actually 'need' a larger *phone* display? I've also, always gone for the 'max' variants to get that extra phone 'real estate'. But aside from maybe a gaming perspective (which I'm not arsed about).... I'm beginning to think - I don't really think I do.
    The extra weight & size of the Max versions, don't really mean that much, when just viewing your everyday socials (I mean, what's half an inch.....😉)
    But actually, weight-wise and overall size in the pocket, when we're out & about....that _does_ make a difference!

    Outside of Design or my doubts about Tensor G3 Power efficiency on a long run , i have a problem with the way Google communicates and releases AI Features, it’s not transparent at all.
    I live in France so french is my main language: what about Summarize, Call Assist or Google Bard ? There are not there yet and i don’t have informations on Pixel french website. I also talk, read and write portuguese too: same thing.
    It gives me the same feeling as S22 Exynos 🆚 S22 Snapdragon. Buying a Pixel 8 or 8 Pro, today, is like buying a Pixel for Americans first. I think this pricing is too high for what Google is able to deliver in most countries outside of USA. Maybe all those features will be ok in January 2024 with a price drop.

      @arranpbrown  8 месяцев назад

    Which is the best buy?

    • @arranpbrown
      @arranpbrown  10 месяцев назад +1

      It depends what you need to be honest. Do you already own an Android? If so, you might be more comfortable with the Pixel 8. If not, then the iPhone might be the best bet. The iPhone 15 Plus is also substantially more expensive than the Pixel 8 and also way larger, so bear these things in mind too. If you already own a load of other Apple products, you might also be best going with the iPhone as this will integrate with those products really well. If you want the AI features, then the Pixel 8 is the way forward. I think the battery life on the iPhone 15 Plus will likely be better than on the Pixel 8. Hope this helps you make a decision!

    There are zero concerns our reasons to be worried about the 7 years of support.
    Even if they would stop making hardware which I highly doubt they will at this point.
    The pixel phones are getting more successful year after year last year alone they sold 10 million units that's quite impressive for Google
    Not very far behind the Galaxy s22 numbers . 😮
    But like I said even if they would stop making hardware
    Let us not forget LG and HTC both dropped out of the hardware race and they were able to fulfill their obligations continue supporting them as promised
    Google is a hundred times bigger than both of those companies combined and they own Android
    End of discussion 😮.

    the S22 was the worse galaxy I've ever had, the battery is absolutely terrible as you described, the OLED screen has now some serious burnt in, it has had several bugs never fully fixed like the a sound delay in the videos. I've always prefered the Galaxy phones and was waiting for the s24, but now I'm hesitating with the Pixel 8

    • @arranpbrown
      @arranpbrown  10 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting to hear your experience! I've not had any issues with burn in, but that sounds like an absolute pain! I think I have experienced the sound delay you are talking about too - it never lasts too long and fixes itself usually for me by pausing and starting the video again, but still not ideal! Thanks for the comment!

      Haha I do know this to be fair, but I think Google's software optimisation should nullify this as an issue, plus the tiny battery of the S22 was part of the main problem, so the Pixel 8 has a substantially larger battery too which should make a big difference haha

    Wow!! Exactly the reason I am moving from s22 to pixel. I have been with samsung galaxies for few years but now moving aeay becoz of batteries. S22 battery sucks. Even for snapdragon processor. I have been running mine on power saving, extra dim mode 24×7 for months. And still need to charge atleast 2 times a day for normal use.
    Whats the point of having such expensive device when I have to carry a power bank all the time.
    Screen size is also non negotiable, so pixel. S23 battery also sucks

    Same here, s22 to Pixel 8. Samsung is over bloated, tries to make us use garbage Samsung apps and assistant at every turn. Pixel is the best iPhone competitor, Samsung shot themselves in the foot on this one.

    Best take is a Frankenstein's mess of a feature. Who would use it? It's just pure creepy and unnatural.

    • @arranpbrown
      @arranpbrown  10 месяцев назад

      I actually don't mind it to be fair - I think it's already proving to be quite a point of division for people though. Some people think it's creepy etc. others have the point that you can effectively already do this in Photoshop, so this is just making it more accessible! I actually think there are going to be a lot of people who are going to use this feature a lot to be honest!

      @@arranpbrown But making those accidental faces at the wrong time that Google wants us to edit out are what makes a picture a picture... those mistakes often make people laugh and brings them together more than an unnaturally perfect picture where everyone is smiling and not blinking at the same time.
