- The Yongnuo 50mm f1.8 for APS-C sensor cameras and the Viltrox 20mm f2.8 For Full Frame sensor cameras are both reviewed in this week's video.
The Yongnuo 50mm f1.8 gives a full frame equivalent of 75mm so it's a lens with plenty of reach, and it makes some very nice blur too.
The Viltrox 20mm f2.8 gives a big wide shot but, unusually for a wide angle lens it can make some blur of its own, thanks to its close focussing distance of 19cm.

Thanks for watching!
Thank you for all the photography wisdom and knowledge. I hope Santa brings you something nice and sparkly. Merry Christmas.
Have a very Merry Christmas my friend!
I want to thank you for all the wisdom you've imparted my way. Stu
Today, oh my goodness.
I've only just purchased an a7r2 to get some more pixles . Came with a bag full of batteries lol Sony.
The noise sneeks in at about the same point it does on the a7s , the body design isn't as nice to hold as the older less ergonomic shape.
And the lock button on the mode selector seems like it's fixing a problem that never existed.
Have yet to drop a 42mp image into my elderly laptop to see if smoke comes out the back.
Enjoyable video as always! The only thing you didn't mention about the Viltrox 20mm 2.8 was the remarkably low price for a new AF full frame lens, I recently bought one from AVM Photo, UK Viltrox agents, for £145 after having problems trying to buy from China. I like it a lot. Merry Christmas.
Glad you liked the lens, it's a beaut!
Merry Christmas Nige, I hope 2024 brings you health and happiness.
Many thanks Jim, you too!
Thank you for the good content this year and merry Christmas from Muinch🎉
Thanks again for a video well done! I find your description of the various lenses you're using to be much less clinical than other YT channels, which to me, making your video descriptions easier to figure out under which circumstances I might use the lens. I hope you have a great New Year's Eve (and day). 🙂
Many thanks man, that's really appreciated! Glad you're enjoying the videos.
Very nice video. Enjoy the holidays!
Thanks Ulf, you too my friend!
I’m packing a Viltrox 23mm, f1.4 on my Fujifilm X-T3, and loving it! Merry Christmas!
That's a nice lens, enjoy!
The Viltrox seems very promising! Got a great deal on a Lumix S5 recently though, so I'll have to wait for the L-mount version. It's going to be interesting to see if they plan to release more of these compact, affordable primes.
Cool video! Please have a look at compilation of my 80 film photos I took with Zenit 12XP.
Thanks, I will!
The Yongnuo doesn't appear to have an aperture ring which is a shame.
Isn't it great to have lenses which are a halfway house between vintage and manufacturers OEM.
These Chinese companies are really getting their act together these days and we as photographers can only benefit from this.
Thank you for all the videos that you have given us over the course of the year, looking forward to what 2024 brings us.
George
Many thanks George, happy new year to you!
It should bring less romantic videos and more truthful videos.
Well, you're indoors with the lenses and depending on the light, I imagine auto focus speed may vary. I suppose that's a topic: How does stopping down for minor highlights in a shot affect auto focus speed..especially if you're not focussing on them but on darker subjects ..or, with a Fuji camera, if you set it for Natural View, does your auto focus improve in speed and or percentage? Happy Hollandaise..
You failed to explain the philosophy of Fuji film colours and why we should buy into that set of colours.
You forgot to say what is the set of colours for sony, too.
I gotta say, that youngnuo 50mm f1,8 for Nikon apsc is useless under f2,8. I dislike it... Anyway, I have learned myself to use more expensive lenses on my Nikon, to get the quality.
I rather liked this lens wide open, perhaps you have a bad copy?
Other than the slightly small max aperture, I find this lens awesome, especially for the money.
@@zenography7923 It has so bad aberrations and lack of sharpness, that it's almost impossible to repair in post processing. The worst is f2,2, because it makes image double (it's visible only in magnification... it's like reflection of image within the image itself). Sometimes I use this lens for architecture, or landscape... or even for some long exposures, because at f8 to f16 this lens is tuck sharp! Sharper than kit lens ;)
Shut up and take my money
