DotA - Magina, the Anti-Mage

- The central theme of this video is learning how to pick battles to fight, while highlighting the importance of block damage and regen. I try to put in scenes where your above-average/higher level DotA player will typically run away from, or wouldn't even think of attempting to fight. Study the situation, and see if you would have fought that battle yourself before I decide to engage the opponent. There isn't anything flashy or godlike in the vid itself, so don't expect any particularly crazy stunts.
Finally, keep in mind that my opponents are facing an AM. I wouldn't do what I did if the opponents were capable of casting (insert spell here).
its 2018, i still remember when i started playing dota (actually im not playing any more) when I was in third of medicine.. Now im an ortopaedic surgeon, remember wasting so many hours playin that game.. snif snif
hi totallnewbie. Thanks for publicising this kind of thinking, instead of "bot-like" thinking of running when health is red. I like your style. Before reading your posts, I had a few occasions where I had such "close-call" style kills (and only with familiar heroes), it gives me such an exhilarating thrill. Now I when retreating or engaging I, check their actual numerical HP and amour, and I gained respect stout shield. For making the game of DoTA this (a lot) much more exciting for me, thanks.!
I like the fact that you respond to comments. I also love the way you think, and I think that your videos have really challenged a lot of players to step up their game. I really enjoy the videos, and appreciate what I can learn from them. Thanks :)
Remember guys its 2008 every dont nkow how to play dota 1. dota is just for fun
This morning I finished watching your replay where, after 3 leavers, you microed 2 heros and the AM for a win. Absolutely amazing; consistently head and shoulders above any player that I have seen yet.
Oh MY! my favorite musicband!
Song:"Dawn of victory"
Band:"Rhapsody"
i enjoy watching your vids, especially how u play magina. insane skills, especially in those "against all odds" situations. i hope to be that good soon
5 stars, as always, you teached me the importance of making my enemies tank creeps =p
I'm wondering in the first scene of the movie, against naga siren, you are attacking her but the enemy creeps (the two skeletons) keep attacking the ranged ally creep, how do you attack an enemy hero without getting attacked by enemy creeps?
Thanks in advance.
man at first i thougth you where lucky, but you keep doing it over and over again. you got skilz dude!
very nice vid!
question: so how often does playing like this backfire on you
just simply curious ^^
Great movie!
Just a question: Did you die some times trying to get these "near dead" moments?
i like you timing with magina's ss...also your animation cancelling is sick... good job!
I won't comment on your opponent or what they should do instead. But damn your video inspired me to try out Magina the way he should be played. I see a lot of creep advantage tactic, mind games and triple A's being pulled off well. They're the 3 essential strats for any hero anyway. Well done mate.
Great judgment of those situations... letting the enemy become committed until they suddenly realize that most of their mana is gone and they eat a Mana Void =] I love your mixups... you're always keeping the enemy thinking "there goes the AM, blinking away again" then you come back for a well deserved kill ^_^ Nice video again totallnewbie~
Dude! You are a DIE HARD Anti-Mage player! I love your unique playing style!
how did you play without using ur mouse?
and what version of DotA is this?
thx :D
REALY nice vid!!!
convinced me 2 play Magina, and i have to say: I never regret it for a second :D
Rhapsody + magina = OWNED
GREAAAAAT
i loved this video ... very good
and a good player too
Its game of 2005.In 2006 everybody used to play this game, now League of Legends is the one but dota always remain in our hearts as the first game in this kind!
Perfect timing of the creep control..nice
Was pretty pumped when this song started playing
Still watching this in 2018
dude your timing is good and u really know how to pick a fight cool
nice timing of blink on making the enemies miss their attacks. :)
I like your tactics, simple yet useful
Mean as hell, and very cool. I know full well I can't do that and I give props for those who can.
it is skill. He knows what build to make. He knows when to take the risk, when to blink out. And he plays good mind games.
@Trillianer Dawn of Victory by Rhapsody
Did you not wait till the video was over? It's in the credits
Cool video. You do exactly what I would have done. But magina's manaburn is a bit unbalanced becose when u have it lvl 4 it burns 64 mana= +64 dmg. But anyway good play. At 1:40 razor didnt start with chain becose he already had frenzy. Still if started with chain then it may have become different. Only one thing; you have such good items at 1:40 why didnt u get vladi??
wow.your really good. pro AM. its like you calculated everything for your void
It's perfect. I would'nt want to play with you when your on the other team ;D. But ya, it's too perfect for me to pull off those stunts. When you talk bnet, you put in words like lags, delays and connections. Your the host, =O it won't matter.
Really nice vid man.....
curiousity... was vladmirs offering avaible during that map you played in. and if it was, would it have a place in your final Anti Mage build.
lol you made ya anti-mage an anti-hero XD
nice one, havent touch on AM for quite a while and never playing dota much anymore.. but this made my AM day XD
Cheers and nice vid.
nice! i love this... the song made it even better..
@totallnewbie You are so awesome totallnewbie. Even the way you speak is just awesome XD. Thanks to you I got my game on with my magina. I learned how to abuse enemies with magina's attack speed, manabreak and mana void.
dude wtf
i cant believe ur able to pull off half the shit you do. Btw checked out ur guide - total badass
I like the way you play, taunt the heroes with low health, they all go after you, and you blink out closely after that
I like this kind of dota video because he doesn't just show some monster kills on almost dead heroes....It shows fight and blink skills...yes in many occasion a better player would have kill him but still it's a great skills showcase
nice timing with your attacking great vid!
As for the naga, she split after hitting me once when I went into her vision. How much faster could she have cast it? Even so, images to near-negligible damage early on especially when I have regen and stouts. She drew creep aggro in the first scene before she was in range to hit me...so what? If she instead moved closer to me, I would have been the first to attack and would have gotten in more hits. She would have died regardless of what she did.
Anything else?
nice job. Anti-mage is one of my favourite heroes
whatever you did, luck is a factor, so good job on that vid, i respect the work you put into it as a fellow editor.
5/5
cheers buddy
You are really good with magina,
Awesome :P
totally awesome. Now lets get to the chopper!!!
im thinking of starting DOTA... and i have a question so please answer....
< ok so u start ur hero and can u like build ur own amry and than u fight others or wat?
Dude that was fucking hilarious when i looked at it I thot AM was gonna blink!
I like the the stuff when you always engage the enemy with really low hp, and the only thing that save you is your ulti =)
I miss these..
I laughed at the jugg. His reaction time was the bomb.
Blink is ultimate skill for AntiMage's Chase and Escapes, and also alot of people likes to get Vanguard with him (which works but i never do) so it will add a little more defense for a low hp hero like Manigma
very nice video, and excellent song! whats the song guYZ?
Yes. As totallnewbie's stated before, images do negligable damage early on, so stout shield was able to fully protect him.
lol..magina was my first ''love'' at dota...
and you play well with him...really like your videos.. serius ^^
5/5 ftw
pro video, but i wonder why sven didnt throw a storm bolt at him? no mana? why didnt he start the attack with the storm bolt?
i had a dream that there will be a guy called Arteezy will conquere the dota 2 scene and will be most famous and legends of the game
the pudge homicide was awesome!
Poor man shield, how nostalgic
Man!!! I would have done it the otherway around.....run. Nice one!
Dota stands for ~ Defence of the Ancient .
No, I max out break first, taking void at 6 and maxing blink at 8 and 9. I don't learn stats.
And that's just a common misconception... AM is really strong early game when you play it right.
respect for void interruption of attack animation
thats some g shit right thurr
Very good plays, great music.
Erm. is cranium basher good to get for Magina, if you got all the other items that you needed?
Good timing on Mana voids
Damn, now that's being an AM ace.
@MMMhohoho is in CD man, didnt you read?
How did he manage to not let the creeps hit him? WILL SOMEONE TEACH ME THIS MAGNIFICENT SKILL?!
You got a like becuz of the badass Rhapsody of Fire song! Rhapsody of Fire FTW!
good job! very good tactic and you are obviously know what you are doing...
I heart Magina.
I love how they underestimate you, and your regen items and you punish them o.o
i like dis vid coz da way u play AM is nice...not afraid of ur enemies even in red life...its good coz u shouldnt be if ur a blinker hero...nice vid xD
this is your step >blink away and come back to get last shot
If he fought that battle any other way, he would have been screwed even more.
sven never fights back when you were whacking at him. lion not whacking with normal attack either after not 1 but 2 impales. that's the only odd thing i noticed. otherwise, good aggression using AM.
great vid . the song fits well
189 dislikes???!! Must be that Flash3Francisco guy wasting his time disliking this LOL!! Keep the good work up totallnewbie, your awesome don't listen to these online haters that act tough and all.
Song name? btw nice vid dude
@Flash3Francisco
u realise mana and health done are not in any way directly proportional to each other?
you're good btw i would like to know the title of this rhapsody song
Thanks a lot :)
I was lucky that those people on my team in that game LET me do it...unlike 75% of the time...
wat the.... dawn of the victory ler!!!!!!!!!!!!!
one simple question: does maginas feedback stack with manta style?
Man! This is classical :D
You do know that you can't target a hero immediately after impaling? Even if he did get 1 hit in on me after the first impale, I would have gotten in 1 or 2 hits on him. I would have then proceeded to chase him down instead of going to hit creeps. He was a smart lion. He wanted to avoid taking damage and getting his mana drained, which I believe was the correct move.
block damage+regen+blink= best assassin
assault cuirass is an option maybe viable to get after you got your core items, my typical build for a magina would be
Treads>Vanguard>Bfly
after that I get extension items depending on my enemies, Assault Cuirass is very very reliable especially if you're up against DPS agi heroes since they have high Armor and Deals damage that HURT.
don't really care whether the opponents are noob or not, fact is i enjoyed this vid. nice one, haha
3:33 sven - meganoob
you have a very good timing with your blink, but you have 2 admit : you are very VERY lucky, especially when naga made illusions at 0:56 - you were hitting the right one but also 2 druids were hitting the right one
wads the skill you used at 1.02? when an orange ball appeared at naga head?
finally someone who knows how to play makes a video
rly good player!!!! Name of the song pls?
Nice playing in the begining:)
Never heard about: Cd or mana cost 2 high :P?
nice nicely done. i like the lion kill and pudge kill the best:S
Same reason Sven didn't bolt: no mana, she was fighting an anti-mage.
Totallnewbie, I miss you :(
A net at the start of the fight wouldnt help him, and he was manaburned later on so he couldn't net.
Hey, nice play there! It's a pity you couldn't upload in a better quality:(
Pudge had way more than 40 HP when he attempted to Rot-chase totallnewbie's Antimage. Also, if that Pudge really were at 40HP when Magina showed up, Rot-suiciding would be quite a reasonable course of action to attempt, wouldn't you agree?
