When i was a kid in the 70's we had very little money but my mum was ingenious in the kitchen and she used to make these with cabbages she grew in the garden. Not had them since but now iv'e come across your video defo gonna make them one evening this week. Cheers

Hi ❤🔥

We're cabbage farmers.
We fry cabbage, chop, onions, chop garlic, in a big fry pan, add maybe 1/8 cup of water, cover n let the magic happen, no fail. It browns as the sugar from the cabbage caramelized.
Devour wit smashed taters n chops or sausages.
I ❤ my cabage simply fried with onions and 🥓
That sounds delicious.
I’m gonna try that!
I made it last night with butcher shop breakfast sausages n smashed red spuds.
@Dennis Huntley
Doesn't the boiling remove the nutrients??
I imagine that would taste delicious ooh! Add mince carrot and ginger might taste like a spring roll!
Omg yaaass!! I absolutely love cabbage and ginger, reminds me of pork cabbage dumplings!! Asian food is so amazing!!

Thats what I was just thinking! Now you really make me want to try 😀😀😀
So basically, this is a cabbage fritter! I love a good fritter!
I love cabbage! This is great I am going to make this for my family! They will love it. Your clear presentation makes it look so easy. I also make RUclips videos and I feel so lucky to be able to learn from other talented creators like you!
I'd like to try this, maybe add some shredded carrots.
I wanted to edit. I made this last night, with the shredded carrots and it was delicious! I don’t eat a lot of cabbage because it makes me gassy. 💨 Sorry t.m.i. 😂 anyway, I’ve surprisingly had no issues this time so maybe this is the way for me to eat more cabbage! Also, like others I was taught to just pull off the outer leaves, no need to wash cabbage, especially after it’s been cut up like this. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Yummy
Thank You so much 🥰
apparently this family of veggies helps you live longer. I guess you need gas to help you live longer? Lol. 🤣😂. Broccoli sprouts have a high amount of something that is healthy apparently!
@@Portia620 Yes and I love roasted Brussel sprouts.
@@seriejohnson698 i have a bunch of them in the garden, ready to harvest
Looks delicious, thank you!
I love cabbage, but have never thought of preparing it this way. I'm going to try it!
Thank you so much I’m learning how to cook more because I’m pregnant with twins! My mom makes recipes similar to this. I’m so excited to make meals for my babies.
Thank you for watching 😊
Congratulations 🎉

This looks amazing im definetly going to try this , great share 🙂👍
I loved cabbage. Thanks For Sharing.
Great job! Reading all the comments, I am salivating already and I am definitely going to try this out 😁
I use purple cabbage, squeeze cabbage in a fruit press - easy peasy - flaxseed meal and chia seeds in water instead of eggs, add some chopped arugula, onions and seasoning as shown, equal parts brown rice flour and almond flour - bake patties on parchment in oven 425 about 30 minutes each side for vegan/gluten free serve with cilantro pesto sauce
THIS SOUNDS BOMB! Omfg lol definitely trying this.
I’d try coconut and almond flour to decrease the carbs more.
Thank you!
Can you be more specific about using the flax meal and chia seeds, e.g. this recipe called for two eggs, how much water, flax meal and chia seeds to substitute for the two eggs?
Like your vegan version ty
End result looks good.. if you use rice floor it will give nice crunch and will also be healthier option. All the best 👍🏼
Thanks! I was thinking of using rice flour! How did you know? 😊
@@anitacotugno4407 cauliflower rice or ground flaxseed would be even healthier. Neither four nor rice are healthy.
Thank you! I tried it with the rice and it didn’t come out good anyway. Not a lot of flavor. I think I didn’t cut up the cabbage enough either. Going to have to tweak it if I make it again.
@@cq8822 Neither "four"are healthy?? How much "flour" would one eat in a day?? A 5 pound bag?? Get real???
@@anitacotugno4407 Oh! I was about to make it with rice flour but it sounds like a bad idea would you say?
Can't wait to try this recipe! Thanks!
I love cabbage by itself in soups with whatever it's my favorite
I love these videos. Short no talking, easy to make and delicious. Easy to make your own spin on it. I added a little andoullie sausage and hatch chilli powder and topped it with sour cream. I also used almond flour to keep it keto. Can be served as the main entree
My mouth's watering reading this comment!
Same here 🤔 I like the videos with no talk just get to the point of the video lol..I'm going to try your recipe seems better if you add meat to it...thx for sharing ☺️

This looks good, will be trying! Thanks for sharing
These look good! Thank you to the commenters for their tips and tricks too. You can also do this with Brussel Sprouts. TFS!
Wow! I love Brussel Sprouts....very rarely see them though in this country....but..fortunately...they appear from time to time.
Buying bread from a man in Brussels,
Six foot four, full of muscles
I said: "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich
And he said.....
Oh man those look delicious. I’m gonna try them thanks to your great video!
Good receipe wonderful easy to prepare well done
Never had cabbage like this looks delicious, will have to make these, thanks
Eggrolls, just shaped differently. Looks good 👍
Something weird happened when I turned 45 . I began enjoying vegetables that I used to loathe . Egg plant , cauliflower , broccoli and cabbage were suddenly high on my list .I like lightly steamed cabbage and carrots with a little salt and pepper aside my chicken teriyaki as much as the chicken . That was never even close to being true before . Do you thinkits just boredom with what I ate exclusively for so many years or is it true , like they say , that tastes change with age ?
Could be your body is craving the vitamins and minerals in those foods.
Are taste buds grow and mature also
Taste buds change as we age. I used to loathe brussel sprouts but absolutely love them now.
Im 30. I used to think I didn't like certain foods growing up. It wasn't until I started cooking for myself that it was cause my parents had very bland meals. Not a whole lot of variety of foods.
Tastes change to a degree. More for some than others. I know mine have changed quite considerably over the years.
Will try this....thanks for sharing
Omg YESSS!!! Beautiful !
Thanks for the clear demonstration. Good job.
I suggest added a list of the ingredients on your home page so that viewers can use it for reference.
Just quarter that puppy, wrap each quarter in bacon and wrap those 4 with tin foil then throw it on the grill and wait about 45 minutes and DONE SON🤘
This was delicious ! 😋 will be making it again.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🙏🙏😋😋😋
These little bites look fantastic
Theses are crab cakes subbed with cabbage. I bet they do taste great, but that is a lot of work. I have done the same with cauliflower, and those were insanely good. It is a great way to save money if you have the time
I think it is worth investment time if you want to eat healthy. Even though I know there are quicker ways to eat other healthy meals also.
Well done. This is called Bubble'n'Squeak and Europe and Australia ate it all through WW2 because there was no meat. You can cook it in one pot too, if you're smart, because my Grandmother had to watch the fuel rationing. It's also pretty bad, and that's why, after the war, it became a breakfast side for most people who wanted to eat it, and then disappeared after war rationing.
I thought bubble and squeak had potatoes in it?
Thanks for that, I, love cabbage!!!!!
Thanks for this video. I'm definitely going to try this!👍
This looks super yummy. As a vegan, I will simply use egg substitute. Yummy! Thank you for this recipe!
A flax egg would work?
@@evaberriman9929 For this I would use already made egg substitute.

I made this and my daughter just loved it. She made a " hamburger" out of it...loved it. Thank you
I would advice everybody to really drain the cabbage well and we just spooned everything on the frying pan...delicious indeed.
Thank you 😊
This is a beautiful recipe I’m ketogenic but I, rather use Almond flour or coconut flour to make it ketogenic. Thank you, so much for sharing this amazing healthy recipe.
I will, thanks so much!!! Blessings to you✌🏼♥️

Why not fry up some shredded cabbage with a little onion and garlic? Better then boiling the crap out of it. Healthier too and more tasty... just sayin...
We'd call that a cabbage fritter. It looks delicious!
Another version add a can of drained salmon , cabbage salmon fritters
I add some cabbage to my zucchini fritters....omg gum
Wow really yummy Recipe thanks for sharing
Buena receta gracias.
I never buy cabbage but tried the recipe style with gram & rice flour mix, pepper flakes for heat and it was delicious with a mint chutney.
If you like this dish, you should try the Japanese dish called "okonomiyaki", it is similar but with meat and other additions that you can use or omit. Both are delicious!
As long as it has meat gonna try it 😆😋
What kind of meat do they usually use?
@@windermere2330 sukiyaki beef or you can use ground beef or even bacon
Osaka Okonomiyaki is better than Hiroshima okonmiyak...lol...sorry, just my preference.
Thank you!
I love cabbage defo gonna try this
Looks so delicious 😋
Oh we make veg version of this, we call it "kofte" , for that U don't have to cook cabbage or add egg as it has water, we finely chop cabbage add gram flour and salt, ginger garlic, green chillies, fry it and done 😁
Kind of “mücver” 🙃
@@sedefcanbazoglu9435 you can put them in gravy too, then it becomes kofte curry 😊
Thanks!!
Thank you
Finally an Indian here ❤
For a lower carb version, substitute tigernut or coconut flour. I'd also add a bit of grated cheese. Looks great!
Tigernut is what my priest calls me.
Don't use olive oil, use avocado oil if you can find it. Olive oil is ok if first pressing off the shelf but Sams club doesn't like me cooking in the store.
I tought the same as living ketogenic lifestyle. Nut or almond flour got in to my mind first.
Definitely going to try this
Looks so good!
Making this tonight! So excited.
Thank You 😊
It was better than I hoped for! Thank you for the recipe.
So its like cabbage croquettes . Reminds me of tuna croquettes my mom would make for us as kids. ❤
Exactly!!! My dad would make us salmon croquettes all the time. I've never heard of tuna croquettes, but I guess you can make anything into croquettes.
@@momonie4 I only had salmon croquettes once. I was so used to tuna I didn't care for it too much. It is a cheap and delicious meal whether you use salmon or tuna!

This makes a wonderful stuffing for rolled lamb breast.🙂
Tip cabbage never needs water it makes it's on. 👍
Thanks!! Looks amazing!!! And easy 🙌😁
Yummy I made this , it is delicious!
Customize with shredded carrot, ginger and green onion! Remember: everything tastes better with SRIRACHA!!!!
Huh, that's bubble and squeek. Mum used to make them in the 1970s and 1980s out of the leftover veg from the day before. I still make them myself today, but I dip them in egg then a breadcrumb mix with smoked paprica before frying them.
The good old bubble and sqeak. You could also buy it back then, wonder if they still sell it. I loved it, good memories. Cheers
That's definitely not bubble and squeak. Bubble and squeak is made with leftover potato as well as the green veg.
@@malthuswasright true, but I remember freinds families when I was a kid who made them with just veg and called it bubble and squeak.
We always had potato in ours.
I checked and you can still buy them which I'm going to get some today.
Can't remember when the last time I ate some. Cheers
@@malthuswasright uh... potato is a vegetable dude.
@@michaelhughes7718 I know. The point is that there is no potato in this recipe. Therefore it's not bubble and squeak
Looks great!!
Turning me on to something different. I absolutely love eating cabbage and will be making this recipe. Thanks
I made these tonight, they were very good, but I couldn’t taste the cabbage. The taste reminded us of onion rings and that’s not a bad thing at all. 👍 I’ll be making them again. 😊
When you boil it and then squeez loses all flavor and nutrients. Sorry but I would not prepare it this way. I love cabbage and there are way too many better and easy ways to eat it without taking all the good in it and soaking it with oil...
Thank you, looks delicious and simple to make 👌
Can the flour be substituted for Almond flour??
Or any gluten-free flour?
It looks so deliseus
Looks delicious 😋
If you want to know what seasoning granules are Vegeta is a good one.
Thank you! From what I read, Vegeta is made from dehydrated vegetables and spices. Perhaps it is similar to vegetable boullion.
Looks fantastic I will eat less meat now😋
Thank You 😊
Ingenious!
I love it, it's so good n nutritious, thank you
Two vital ingredients missing - chopped green chillis and chopped coriander leaves.
That's special tasty.
Has anyone tried making a vegan version of this? I've got almond flour. I'm thinking of trying with a Flax egg, I'm curious if anyone else has :)
I cannot put into words how excited I am to try to make this later today!!!
How was it?
guess you will have to be the first t0 make is extra vegan
Looks delicious !
Nice! Thanks for sharig.. will definitely try this.. 😊
I'm Polish and really like cabbage. I just finished making this recipe with a few slight modifications. I added more fresh garlic (as I really like garlic), about half a teaspoon of ginger powder and onion powder and 1 small grated carrot. End result: mediocre. If I were to make this recipe again, I would add another fried onion and fried meat such as Polish sausage. In my opinion, adding fried meat to this recipe would boost the flavour tremendously.
gxo gxo....Hi, Eastern European Poland 🇵🇱 neighbor....read my Lithuanian 🇱🇹 cabbage recipe, you might like it! I grew up with Polish & Irish immigrants in central northeastern PA. The Irish taught everyone how to speak English, complete with a brogue. Everyone got along beautifully! Memories! 🙏🏼❤️.
