What breaks my heart about LTG is that I see a lot of my old self in him. Like him, I was sexually molested as a child (I was 8). Like him, I didn't recognize the source of my rage and trauma and it manifested itself in to anger and an explosive temper and sadly, even sometimes violence against people. I wrecked relationships, friendships, and even my own sense of self because I was unable to really control, let alone UNDERSTAND, where all this was coming from. It took bottoming out and getting therapy to start unpacking so much of my own stuff. And all that was done without a portion of the world knowing who I was and lampooning my self destructive tendencies. None of this is to say his jerk behavior is to be excused...we still have to make choices. But the sad part is, being on the other side of it, I know how avoidable his fate could be. THAT sucks.
I’m glad you have been able to work through most of your trauma and be able to identify why you felt that way. I used to be angry at the world simply because I didn’t know why I felt so terrible about myself. Turns out I was just in my own head. It took a long time to work through my issues. Once I did though all I could think about is all the time I spent being angry when in reality I shouldn’t have been. The time and people I lost or missed out on.

What breaks my heart about LTG is that I see a lot of my old self in him. Like him, I was sexually molested as a child (I was 8). Like him, I didn't recognize the source of my rage and trauma and it manifested itself in to anger and an explosive temper and sadly, even sometimes violence against people. I wrecked relationships, friendships, and even my own sense of self because I was unable to really control, let alone UNDERSTAND, where all this was coming from. It took bottoming out and getting therapy to start unpacking so much of my own stuff. And all that was done without a portion of the world knowing who I was and lampooning my self destructive tendencies. None of this is to say his jerk behavior is to be excused...we still have to make choices. But the sad part is, being on the other side of it, I know how avoidable his fate could be. THAT sucks.
