Apple Watch Stainless Steel Scratch Fix (Quick and Easy Repair)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 6 фев 2025
- This is a quick and easy method to remove scratches from any stainless steel Apple Watch (Series 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6)!
If you’ve got a stainless steel Apple Watch, no doubt you’ve noticed it can pick up scratches pretty quickly. I’ve accidentally smashed my watch into a wall with no issues, while other times, it gets scratched if I just look at it funny. Stainless steel is exceptionally tough, but when it’s polished to a high shine finished like on the Apple Watch, it’s very susceptible to scuffs and scratches.
Fortunately, one of the biggest benefits to stainless steel is that it’s pretty easy to make it look brand new again.

(One container usually lasts me about 1.5 years)
This process only takes about 15 minutes. I usually do it every two or three months. This method will work on any silver stainless steel Apple Watch (Series 1, Series 2, Series 3, Series 4) along with anything else you have that’s made out of stainless steel.
The stainless steel Apple Watch models have an extremely durable sapphire crystal display, but it’s still a good idea to try and avoid polishing the display.
Once finished, you can wipe remaining polish form the watch using the soft cloth, then a quick rinse under the faucet, followed by a drying with paper towels or a microfiber cloth.
I do this every 2 or 3 months and one container of polish usually lasts about a year and a half.
This polish is only meant to be used with polished metals, and will NOT work with the aluminum Apple Watch models. I’ve also only ever used it with the silver stainless steel Apple Watch. I don’t know how well it will work with the Space Black and Gold versions.

I don't have a Apple watch but that container of polish could come in handy for other things 👍
And ...yes coins..i can fill that with coins or gumballs for the kids😁😁 lots of info had a great time watching a well polished review😁
Haha, thanks Angela! 👍
@@tombuck 😊😊
No way, I live on cape cod and never heard of this. a random video I clicked on to polish my Apple Watch. And I learned something new in my hometown
I recently purchased the Apple Watch 7 silver stainless steel edition and already has some tiny scratches but I knew this would happen. I’m glad there is a solution for this issue. I will buy this product and try it out soon. Great content. Thank you for sharing!
It should work great on the Series 7 as long as it's the traditional stainless steel and not one of the colored ones. Good luck!
I've polished my Series 4 like a dozen times now and it still looks brand new every time 👍
I just removed all scratches from Apple Watch and iPhone XS Max. Thanks so much for the info.
That’s awesome Sergio, I’m really glad it was helpful!
Hey Tom. On my way to the Apple Store this Friday to pick up a stainless steel Apple Watch [My first Apple Watch!] so thanks for the video. But more than that, I've watched a number of your videos on several different topics and enjoy your laid back humble demeanor, factual content, and clear way of conveying the information. Great job. Subscribed! (And I rarely subscribe to anyone on RUclips.)
Thanks Dave, I really appreciate that. It’s fun to make videos, but it’s even better to know people are getting something out of it. By the way, my girlfriend is currently in the process of developing a Keto diet plan, so it’s serendipitous to hear from you, haha.
@@tombuck I might suggest having your girlfriend take a gander at some of the videos at ruclips.net/channel/UCVCqznxqSxx-bj7focwv4HAvideos?view_as=subscriber. I suspect some of the info would be helpful :)
Awesome, thanks for the link!
Love the lighting, editing, and b-roll 🔥🔥🔥
Don’t forget the A roll! #relevance
Hey Tom, thanks for the video. Quick question. Did the polish help buff up the visibility of small dent like scratches as well? Or only light scratches?
It can help, but it definitely depends on the size of the scratch/dent. I think it’s technically removing a thin layer, so it’d take a lot of time to entirely remove anything deep. It’s worth a try though!
I’ve had this same watch for almost 5 years now and I’ve done this probably 15-20 times with it and had no problems 👍
Have you tried this on the stainless steel link bracelet?
does this work on the graphite stainless steel?
I haven't tried it, but I believe it's only for "natural" stainless steel.
I don't have a apple watch but feel that could be handy for other gadgets too
It’s great for anything shiny and metal 👍
I have the aluminum Series 3, so not for me but fantastic production quality and great info. 👏👏👏👏
Thank you Holly! I really appreciate that!
Aluminum can be polished with that too.
Goes into the category: Things I should have known existed but didn’t. 💯
I think that’s most of life for me, haha
I tried this on my sliver stainless steel Apple Watch & works excellent. Is their any special polisher I can use for the gold stainless steel Apple Watch?
This SHOULD work on it, but I don’t know how thick the gold plating/coating is. If it’s relatively thin, then then polish could rub straight through it. 😬
could you do a video with the Gold one?
I would, but I only have the stainless steel version, so I’m just working with what I have!
@@tombuck can i use this on my rose gold Apple Watch
Will the writing at the back of the watch come off?
No, because it's laser etched into the stainless steel.
Great video! Do you think this would have any effect on the seals or waterproofing of the watch?
It shouldn’t, it’s not that abrasive. Mine still works great and I polish it every other month or so 👍
@@tombuck that's good to know. I take it you use yours for swimming etc? Thanks for the reply.
I don’t swim much, but mine is in the water everyday at some point.
Can I use this stuff on the graphite stainless steel Apple Watch?
I wouldn't recommend it, I think it'd only for "traditional" stainless steel.
If my case is gold stainless steel case, will the gold fade?
Yes, it's only for use with classic stainless steel and can damage other finishes (on anything, not just watches).
@@tombuck ic.. thanks for reply.
So unlike the cream versions of polish, is it safer for the watch as far as the speaker openings etc. ? I know this stuff works on regular watches and steel, I’ve just been worried about anything that is chemical based getting inside and causing damage. Thank you for a great video, cheers!
I haven’t had any issues over the past 3 years of using it. It wipes and washes off very easily, so I can’t imagine it would get stuck in any openings (and I personally haven’t had that happen).
Looking for something to use on the Gold SS as well.
I’m not sure what would work on gold, but I think this would damage the finish. I would bet that a jeweler’s shop (or website) would have good info.
Solid video! I like your style, keep it up!
Thanks so much!
Does it work on gold stainless steel Apple Watch??
It's only intended for silver stainless, so I wouldn't recommend it with other finishes.
Hi man, cool and helpful video!
Does this also work with deep scratches on the stainless steel?
With a decent amount of elbow grease, you can get some impressive results. It’s worth a try for sure.
for the graphite?
I would only use this on regular stainless steel just to be safe.
Could you polish the space black stainless steel version??
It’s really only safe for silver stainless steel- I wouldn’t use it on the black version.
Hey Tom, I tried polishing my silver stainless Apple Watch with a polishing cream from Parker & Bailey the other day. Although the packaging does say stainless steel polish, it made even more scratches on the watch. Any idea how it happended?
Hmm, I've only ever used this polish and it's never caused any issues. I can't say why the other didn't work well.
Will this work with the new graphite stainless steel finish for the series 6 watches?
I would only recommend it for traditional stainless steel.
@@tombuck ooh ok, thanks!
Great video. Super helpful. Love your channel. Keep it up.
Thank you Austin! I really appreciate the kind words.
In the entire lifetime of your steel apple watch, how many times did you polish it? I am wondering if there's a max limit to how many times can you polish it before it looses its shape or strength?
I still wear this same watch every day so it's a bit over three years old now. I've polished it probably 8 times or so? No issues at all. I'm sure it's not something you'd want to do every day, but every few months is totally fine.
@@tombuck Good to hear that. I am going to buy the series 7 stainless steel, and I was worried about scratches wearing off the shine of the case over time. Is your watch still as good as new? I believe only minor scratches can be polished off, and not deep ones?
@@tombuck How long does this polishing kit last? Is it a one time use thing or does it come with more cloths etc.?
does it leaves any marring/micro fine scratches/haze ? i heard these things really removes scratches but if you look closer they actually leaves a LOT of super micro scratches. almost looks like a haze at a distance.
I haven’t had any issues on the silver stainless steel model. I’ve been using it for over 3 years and it always leaves the watch looking just like it did out of the box.
@@tombuck is it the same material as the XS MAX Silver stainless model ?
As the border on the phone? I believe so.
thanks. just fixed all the micro scratches on my XS max silver bezel...this cloth really works amazing
It’s pretty crazy! Glad it worked for you!
Is there any way to remove scratches on gold stainless steel on iPhone 11 Pro?
Im sure there’s a way to repair gold stainless steel, but I’m not familiar with it. I wouldn’t use this on it.
Hey Tom, is this product also usable on the graphite version?
No, just the regular stainless steel. I think using it on anything else could cause damage (keeping in mind it's really intended for silverware/jewelry, so it's not marketed with the Apple Watch in mind specifically).
I want to know how to do what you did from 0:27-0:28 lol
That’s my favorite shot in this whole video! I just had my camera on a slider and moved it really fast, no tricks or editing. I tried to make it look robotic.
My apple watch is all good but the screen gor scratched how can i fix it
Unfortunately I don’t know of a good way to fix screen scratches. I haven’t personally gotten any scratches on the sapphire display, but I hope you find a good solution!
Interesting
Can this be used on the generation 4 Apple Watch? I have some scratches on my screen and I’ve had it for less than 3 months!
This works in the stainless steel casing of all watch models, but isn’t meant for the screen.
will this work for gold stainless steel?
Just the silver stainless, otherwise you risk damaging the finish.
GREAT VIDEO !!... DOES IT WORK ON SPACE GRAY TOO?? I GOT SCUFF ON MY WATCH 4 SPACE GREY , DOES IT WORK ON IT ?
I wouldn’t try it on the aluminum watches. I’ve only ever used it on the shiny stainless steel, and I’d worry that it could damage the finish of a Space Gray watch.
Wait just wash it? Omg i get so nervous doing washing of electronics
Oh me too! I never had any issues though washing the original Apple Watch, and the newer versions are all officially listed as being water proof.
The Enthusiasm Project so i do not need to worry if water were to enter the holes of the watch?
No it should be fine. The Series 3 and 4 also have a specific feature to “eject” water from the holes after the watch gets wet. Apple’s own marketing materials show people swimming with the watch on.
The Enthusiasm Project oo..thank you for the information!! This sure makes me feel better about washing my apple watch
