There is no way Monty was more anxious than I was watching him complete the task. So smart.
DITTO!!! O.M.G.
@@twofeathersjodie Why are you folks anxious? Monty clearly enjoyed the challenge...all that for an itty bitty reward
I had a long-bill Corella (Caspar ) for about thirty five years before he died to great mourning all round our family, and at one stage when renovating his aviary I had him in a large cage for about two months. He took about 2 days to figure out how to open the door. I then used a few wire weights to complicate the issue. It was not long before Caspar could open it quicker than I could.
I then bought a combination numerical lock. After about 2 weeks of trial and error he managed to open it. Thinking that it was a fluke I re locked it but he had it open within a few days. With lots of practice, this time of his opening the door dropped to a few seconds and as I watched he would use the correct numbers and the correct sequence most times as if to show off. Most of the time he didn't escape; he seemed happy with the smaller quarters, and when on one occasion he flew into a large gum tree behind our back yard. I had to get a ladder and rescue him. When I reached him he was appearing very frightened. On descending to the ground he settled immediately. Can a bird be frightened of heights? he had me convinced and it would have been a new experience for him since he had been hand reared in captivity before I acquired him. Can I say that it was a relief to have him back in his aviary where the door locks were out of reach of that prehensile beak!.
Nice story, your Caspar sounds as awesome an escape artist as the one in the video. Another RUclips channel Birdtricks, who own a number of parrots and do freeflight training, have a macaw that, like yours, let apparently let itself out of its temporary travel cage, which was locked with a combination padlock. It then flew off and like yours, perched on a high place, a flagpole I think. Luckily their bird did fly back down to them, as it was trained in freeflight, and in particular descending flight. From what Birdtricks say, when captive-reared birds that are not used to flying outdoors escape, such birds frequently refuse to fly downwards, despite every encouragement from their owner, because they are scared of crashing. This is particularly so if the bird had its wings clipped when young and then suffered a bad crash experience. Descending flight is a skill that Birdtricks make sure that birds get taught in their free flight programs. So it seems you are absolutely right about your bird being afraid, and it's normal for many pet birds to refuse to budge in these situations. I'm glad glad your Caspar ended up relatively accessible in a gum tree -- I saw a YT video of someone having their escaped cockatoo rescued off a church steeple(!). It took a rock-climbing expert with hooks and ropes to bring that escapee down.

I have never seen a Long billed corella before. It is always amazing how they love mechanisms like locks, and how great they are at undoing them.
"Are you ready?" I think he's ready.
Wow your bird is smarter than some humans.
By a lot!
Was thinking the exact same thing. 👍
Are nhi bhai...

Pls don’t assume ppl speak the same language as you
Your language isn’t the only one that exists
@@pratibhaaa7265 Neither is english clown face
That little noise he makes @1:17 omg i love him!
aha yeah he's like "yeah i did it!"
I actually heard it as "you ready?" as if he knew what he was doing, which he did
AShadowWolf He does say "You ready!"
Monty was so excited to start solving the puzzle box that he barely let you set it on top of his cage before he dove into action. I've seen many different species of cockatoos on RUclips and most of them seem very determined to get what they want. But I have to say, Monty is the most eager of them all. Thank you for filming Monty's puzzle solving attempt a year after his last victory. His mind is still as sharp as a tack. Good job, Monty! You earned those cashews that were locked behind the door!
Cute
What an incredible bird!
Holy crap. If zombies were real the thing I'd fear most would be your bird.
I have an African Grey and after all these years he still makes me speachless when it concerns his intelligence. They are so smart parrots and cockatoes
WOOOW! HE SAID AT BEGINNING OF VID "ARE YOU READY!?"
SOOOOOO AWESOME!❤❤💚
haha this is so awesome! that bird is quite clever
Wow many people wouldn't have figured that out
Bravo, Monty! Wonderful! Well done, little Guy!
Wow! He couldn’t wait to get at it!
I saw these things feeding each other in the botanical gardens in Sydney, they're scary smart. If they evolved to free both hands things would have been different.
OH, I AM IN LOVE! HE IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!
what an inteligent little boy
A very beautiful sight of this well-learned professor-bird!!
I can’t believe he unscrewed the nut off the screw. He’s a smart little buggar!
Are you ready?.... for Monty to wow you! Amazing
Wow… what a beautiful and intelligent bird.
Birds are smarter than most humans for sure…..especially nowadays..!!
Oh, what a smart birdy 🕊️❤️
I know that the presence if cockatoos online as exploded but if it gives these amazing intelligent birds the excitement and stimulation the crave and need then fantastic.too many are left to become neurotic. I hope this trend doesn't result in purchases that will end up with another abandoned cockatoo.
I love the cheering when he finally manages to pull out that metal bar 😄
That's a great way to keep his mind entertained and sharp! He seems to find the cashew worth it, too. :) I'm glad his owner realizes his bird needs that mental challenge and can be happier for it. His bill is like half of the toolbox!
1:17 "Fuck this shit" - bird
This video made me really happy, i like animals being smart
Nice dog you have there
Amazing bird clever brains well trained show us more of him God bless
He checked the door after completing each stage. That’s incredibly considerate of his time management, as he knew there were multiple locks, but who says they all must be completed in succession? It’s as though he considered the possibility of a design flaw that could purchase the reward with less effort. I love LSD.
It’s a busy box for parrots! Great idea.
I had a long billed corella, so so clever and clowns, someone tried to tell me corellas are not native to Australia, what a knuckle head he is
They are very affectionate when they aren't being jerks
You need to have mission impossible music playing in the background. :-)
John Rose Your cashew, should you chose to accept it...
I used to joke that I need a small trained monkey , when I have to access difficult places during work . Now I need Monty !
Truly unbelievable !!!! Just astonishing how smart that bird is.😲 Congrats own owning a smarty pants !!!😉
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Brilliant! Absolutly BRILLIANT! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
smart bird !
"i hope theres a large pizza in there after all this trouble, human!"
Beautiful and clever bird!
That bird figured out the puzzle faster than i did!
I like how he said "are you ready?" in the beginning of the video.
Wow, I'm starting to think if someone calls you a bird brain, it is absolutely a compliment. Ingenious bird!
Yes. So happy he got it!
This is fantastic to witness.
This could be used across the world for research!
We humans are also same, thriving for food, doing loads of work, just for getting the bread.
Please don.t take it negatively, this is the truth.
Absolutely incredible!
I think Monty should get his own set of nut drivers and wrenches. Craftsman, or Stanley.😂
Nice work Monty
That birb big brain
I feel the same way about cashews! 🏅well done!
If I was that Bird would turn around and bite the owner 😭
That is one smart fucking bird.
So awesome. It seems like he gets the idea of the series of locks, but then gets baffled when the pins are too hard to move (when they are possible to move) and just goes to the next pin out of frustration or something. Maybe wooden pins would be easier to get a grip, and would mean less going back and forth?
I LOVE this!! I love puzzle games that give me tasks like that. Me and your bird could be besties. He deserves ALL the treats!
Most little kids couldn't figure this out.
Bravo!
😲😲😲Wow!! Super impressive!!!
First of all, I’m not sure that I would’ve been able to solve this...unscrewing the nut from the bolt to then pull it completely out was genius.
Smart and handsome little dude.
thats some impressive level of intelligence
Problem solving at its best !!
Eric The Legend is hilarious 😆🤟
hi, I have a corella who's about 5 months old and was wondering how young your bird was when u taught him that and if there are other tips and tricks you could tell me to help me out...
it's the first time I'm raising a bird and I have no idea
He's better than the Lockpicking Lawyer!
That's not a bird. That's a mastermind.
cool video , it's amazing how smart birds are , my parrot is like Houdini , he knows how to unlatch his cage from inside have to wire it shut , did you make that puzzle box , would like to make one for my bird , they love a challenge 😀
Amazing!!
I wonder what will happen if Eric tried this
good job !
Wow! So smart!
I love corella's
Monty took it a part blind folded! ✓
am I now getting this on my recommended after 6 years-
It looks like we found the animal that Houdini reincarnated into.
Haha, when the door kept getting caught by the tip of the final deadbolt, he brought over that first bolt like he was about to try smashing his way in.
Good boooy! 🎉 ❤❤
I couldn't have done it, but Birdie did hes smarter tha me!😂
Incredible
What a smart monkey !
I wonder if you could teach him how to understand the parts that are in the way, I would really love to see this on an animal that isnt known for building tools for itself.
@1:16 she was pissed at that bolt haha
Motivation produces intelligence.
Beautiful .
Very clever!
He is really very smart. Burglars will offer him a job.
I know Jurassic Park is a work of fiction, but I wonder if dinosaurs would be this smart like in the book/ film; as birds are their closest relatives.
train him to be a locksmith or for the military 😊
Excellent work Monty! That bank vault will be ours soon! Bwahahaha!
1000 IQ parrot wow 😲😳❤️❤️❤️
This is the Lockpicking Birb and what I have for you today-
*bird
This is too awesome haha
am i the only one to hear the bird say are you ready at the start of the video?
Nope, that's what he says!
@@tomgjj that’s just amazing.
:D i like how he asking you if you are ready
there is no way this bird is smarter than me
Brilliant
Incroyable 🙂
Wow!! That was very clever!! :D
Also shouldn't Monty's beak be trimmed? It seems a little overgrown.
Completely normal for an Eastern Long Billed Corella:)

tomgjj Really?? That's incredible yet frightening(don't want to mess with one)
Thanks for the info ^_^
I had parakeets, and I was thinking the same thing!
clever girl (or boy in this case)
Brilliant Amazing
I would struggle solving that one :O
