I get erratic test results too with Black Magic. A NMVE 7000MB/s SSD will never work faster than 2800MB/s with thunderbolt 3/4 because of the 40Gbps limitation. I get about 2500MB/s read and write with an Acasis T3 enclosure and a WD SN770 1TB Gen 4 SSD which costs about $100. If you want to get closer to 7000MB/s read speed you'll need to put the SSD in a PC motherboard.

I have exactly the same drives with 2 being Fledgling enclosures and 1 in an Orico and I have about the same speeds as you. It seemed to be a waste of time getting anything with a theoretical 7000 max when I 5000 max gives enough headroom, if you get nearer 2800 then fair play, but most people will be around 2500/2600 max.

Hi guys been looking to get an SSD but it's really hard to pick one.
I wanted to get those external drives but most of them are at 1000MB/s.
And few are at 2000 but they can't be used as my laptop only has usb 3.2 gen 2 but not 2x2.
My laptop only has thunderbolt 4 and 3.2 gen 2 ports.
So I decided to get these internal drives and get an enclosure.
But most of the people on yt show only 1000mb/s speed on these 5000-7000 rated drives ?
Then what's the point in getting one? Can you get these drive to work with TB 4 which has 40gbps support?
Can you guys help me out please
      Thank you.

Thanks for making and sharing this video.
I hadn't heard of the Konyead enclosure until Google suggested this video. I am looking for an enclosure for the SK Hynix P41 Platinum 2TB SSD I have on order and this might do the trick. Looks like I can get it with a decent deal on Amazon imported into Australia much cheaper than the local stock.
I'll do a little more research before I hit the "Buy" button but so far it's looking good as a competitor to Acasis and Orico enclosures I have been researching.
Oh and the AJA testing platform might help in these kinds of tests. I've watched a few other videos where they use Blackmagic and AJA to compare with results.

While not the same enclosure or drives, I had a similar issue with a recent setup I got for my M1 MBA. I got an Acasis Thunderbolt 3 NVME hub with various ports, because I wanted a powered hub with NVME to do immediate backups of still images I shoot in a studio. For all my NVME enclosures I use Inland (MicroCenter) NVME drives because I do not need blazing speed, just NVME portability. Typically I get 1,800 speeds in other devices. However, I get 400 Read & Write in the Acasis TB3 hub, with an OWC TB4 cable. Odd to say the least. I have one Samsung 970EVO Plus that I will try with the hub in the future, but otherwise, 400 Read & Write “works” for the moment.
I would be interested in reading any other explanations as to why this is happening.

      Hey! Great question;
I think an NVME is going to be the best option and the “future proof” way to go.
It also depends on what you’re using it for. I have noticed three of my SanDisk SSD’s performance go downhill since making this video and the two NVME drives I made using the Samsung NVME and Konyead enclosures are still maintaining the same fast speeds and I use them daily for our wedding videography business.
      I hope this helps!

That SanDisk was only USB3 SS10 speeds
You should check out the T-Force Cardea z440 Gen 4 drives. 2TB has 3600TBW and 5yr warranty ($239US)
The Seagate FireCuda 530 is one of the fastest nvme drives around (7300/6900). I haven't tested it with the enclosure. 5yr warranty and 3yr free rescue service along with 2550TBW. It would be a waste in the enclosure. ($250US)
From the looks of the SK Platinum, it isn't using it to its full potential. So a good Gen3 ssd or a lower speed Gen4.
You are maxing out the enclosure. That SK-Hynix isn't compatible with the enclosure or something wrong with it. They do have incompatibilities with drive/enclosures. I'm going to boot the Mac mini off the external drive because the Mac mini drive is soldered in and I don't want it going bad on me. I'll use the extetnal that I can easily replace. I use the Seagate and Tforce in a PC I use for editing and have the main one for OS/programs, the other for projects and an external for cache

Well - I got one, and used it as a system drive for a little more than a week and had to switch back to my Samsung T5.
The thing just get so HOT that the write speed at times drops to < 20MB/s, and the entire computer hangs for seconds at a time.
It is fast if you use it as a data drive, attach it when you need it. But having it as a system drive (Mac Mini 2018, i7) just doesn't work. The drive never cools down, even when the computer is idle.
To me it was wasted money. I will probably take the Samsung 980 Pro and put it in my Windows gaming desktop and then maybe try get a slower SSD for the unit (as to not was the money entirely).
