  • What is slow living? Something very different for my channel - discovering slow living, when you live a fast paced life. My journey to slow living, documented.
Slow living is a lifestyle choice that encourages us to slow down and savour life's simple pleasures. When we adopt this approach, we can let go of the fast-paced, frenzied way of living and instead embrace a calmer, more intentional way of being.
A life where I'm not in a rush to get anywhere or do anything; simply allowing myself to be present in the moment.
Overall, slow living is about prioritising the things that truly matter and letting go of the rest. It's about finding joy in the simple pleasures of life and savouring each moment as it comes. So if you're feeling overwhelmed by the fast pace of modern life, consider giving slow living a try and see how it can transform your world.
So if life's getting busy, and you need a new pace,
Try slowing it down, and enjoy life's embrace.
Embrace the simplicity, and let it unfold,
Discover the magic, in the moments you hold.

I'm with you, I recently left my stressful pharmacy job, it was a toxic environment and wasn't good for me. I've now got a muchhh less stressful job and i try to live intentionally, spending time on what truly matters with the people i love.

We have to work like we don’t have children and look after children like we don’t work. I too am self employed and never switch off work as it’s always at home. Finding time to switch off is so important. Finding balance for all to live a better life is key. 🌈

Aww, love this. I would consider myself to live slowly. My favourite quote I have heard was from another RUclipsr called Madisun Grey. She said that slow living was about savouring the things that you value. I also think it's a journey and every persons ideal is different. Enjoy! Xx

Slow living means different things to different people doesn’t it! Sometimes it can be just a little bit of time out, to others it’s in everything they do! It takes thought to achieve this and anywhere in between. These two channels are very different but along with their music really help me on my progress. I appreciate you showing us starting your journey along with even detecting some issues Ie the reversing bleeper 🤣! It’s probably the machinery at Wisley! It’s funny but I was watching one slow living Vlog they other day where she said that people say that they would love to live like them but they live in a town or a flat or that they can’t afford it etc. so she revealed that she doesn’t live in a lovely country cottage but surrounded by other houses. Then I realised that I already have the lovely cottage in the country but the slow living is a mind set and takes time to nurture! I know you love a candle so too do I so this is where I’ve started. Even my dogs love it now when I light the candles, they dive in the chair together to watch me relax and read! Try these channels, YRstudios (such a lot of inspiration and she has a candle business which I buy from) also The Cottage Fairy American girl with a beautiful soul! And Apronfull of Stones. She’s not posted much for a while but beautiful music and scenery! May be you need the woods rather than an RHS Gardens! Love it though Lara, been following you for some time now. Good luck on your journey! Xxx

Oh susie, I beamed throughout reading this whole comment!! Thank you so so much for taking the time to read it. I really appreciate it and the advice. I saw some of the cottage fairy videos and they were so relaxing! I don’t think my channel will be like those as I have other interests and so do my audience but I am really enjoying leaning into it and seeing where it’s going. And yes to the moment of lighting candles!! 🥰🥰🥰 xx

@@LaraJoannaJarvis yes yours will be different as you are more realistic I think but capturing some of the elements into your busy life will be interesting to us! My son left home when he was 17! I was 38! He is 40 this year!🤣My husband and I have had a long time to re discover who we are but I do regret not taking time out to slow down a bit back then! But it’s never too late so I do it now! 😘😘

Loved this video and would love to see more! My little boy is 1 now and still doesn’t sleep through the night, he is a whirlwind during the day and I feel like I never stop. If I’m not chasing after him, I’m tidying the house, cleaning bottles, prepping meals, the list goes on… But I am trying to remind myself that the jobs will get done and to enjoy the time I have with him as he is growing so quickly. I am so tired in the morning but I want to get up even half an hour before him to have some time to myself even if that only means sitting down with a coffee. Peace and quiet really is bliss xxx

Ahhh, this just honestly brings it all back! It feels like you have no time to yourself at all when they’re that age. Mine are 10 & 8 next week and they are SO much more independent, and it’s sad they don’t need us as much. It’s such a cliché, but it really doesn’t last long and soon you’ll be like me, missing being needed! I never mastered getting up before them but I know people who do and they seem to love it. I’m always up so late that the mornings sleep is precious to me haha. Sending lots of love xx

lovely poetry and loved the video which seemed to come at the right time. I have two boys and find life to be flying by quickly but it's tiring me out. this is the therapy we all need in a world where being busy is celebrated. it was always going to turn on its head like this and a breather is what we need.

Thanks I totally relate. My little boy is similar age to you. My 20s were spent racing through chasing a career and always about what was next to come. Now in my late thirties I just want to savour the now the moment. I don’t feel that I did that in my 20s. Life’s so short, enjoy the little moments.

Im retired, my children have left home, have their own families. My time is slow, I would love to be back in my old job and busy again. You can have too much spare time. I do have hobbies, but nothing like busy family life. Enjoy it while you are young.

Thank you! It is always interesting to hear other people’s perspectives as each age and chapter of life is different isn’t it. What we wish for when babies are young and exhausting is something we can then have too much of when we’re older! I think for me slowing down allows me to truly enjoy the moment of what is happening and take it in as like you say before I know it I’ll be craving this busy family life xx

I created a board on Pinterest for slow living themed pins. I found this a great way to inspire and curate the idea of living more intentionally. It really goes against the grain of 21st century life to choose less over more, it can be difficult but highly rewarding. Thanks for sharing your experience of slow living I hope this is a series on your channel now lol!

Thanks, I think haha. I don't want to alienate my community who wont have watched that kind of silent vlog video, but perhaps want to know what slow living is and how I can incorporate it into my busy life. So, this is an in-between one, it's not supposed to be a silent vlog, but a slow living tips/ideas for busy people who are interested in trying it too, or seeing how I am doing it x
