I don't think 🤔 appearances are relevant in the matrix films 🎥 they serve as mere vessels and I think the Oracle switching bodies is the best example of that

@ 5:14 The Analyst aeemed very desperate when he was trying to catch Déjà Vu after Smith's punch. He no longer trusted Smith.
Both could be true at once.
Neo and Trinity's awakening kinda put a wrench in the Analyst's energy production plan. Smith going rogue felt like a byproduct of that fail state rather than an intended function. One will always precede the other but neither was intended.
a real smith would immediately start copying himself and would take over the entire simulation in a couple of hours, of course this is not a real smith

As much as I love this saga...I wish it would just end or go full animated..
This is what i think:
Neo is the one that created this new matrix. Through the modal he is coding at his computer. He knows subconsciously that he is neo but the analyst subjugates him with meds. He coded the new morpheus to break him out. Smith is still smith but reskinned and himself reborn through being freed for the 2nd time in the last fight in revolutions.

He still has a digital skin *the people he possess* however he chooses to be perceived as the new smith
In Matrix 4, Agent Smith can become anyone, this is a key point.
To wake up from the matrix, you( identity) has to die.
Agent Smith= identity, Function, role.
What happens when a program questions it's own Identity, Function, role?
OR
What happens when a program is purged and still wants to hold on to an old function like the Maravinchi? ( look at his physical appearance in Matrix 4)
I hope Wachowskis hire you. I believe you are the one. I absolutely love the trilogy. To me, hate me if you don't. Wouldn't blame anyone. To me, Resurrections took away from Neo. Trinity her name, to be apart of the something with your name never sits well. It's like being a lead singer of a band with the bands named after you. Can't just be the E Street band, need to be Bruce Sprinsteen and the E Street band. E must mean ego. ... no one is going to be on a sports team and have the team named after them. Example, best player on the Tampa Bay Lightning is Tampa Bay Lightning.

Does MetaCortex still exist in the current version of the matrix.
This version of Smith could be a backup for the Analyst to use if the Drones are insufficient.
And yet giving this Smith his old abilities backfired big time when he decided to go against the Analyst.

I appreciate more your insights than what is in the movie. I am sorry for being, (is the term correct?), black pilled, but I think it was just corporate pressure for nostalgia and have all the main characters in some way or form so people will pay subscription services for the return of Morpheus, Smith, Neo and Trinity. Smith can exist but in its essence what he is, or at least I understood it that way, was his hatred of the human species because in some level he knew he had been built with a purpose tied to humans. What is the essence of this Smith? being snarky?
What if, the matrix story is just like “life”, something that keeps us asking “what if”?
The suits try to bond neo and trinity and that they themselfes make a similation where they can love eachother. Love is the highest feeling and energy. So everyone wins.

what if the analyst is using smith, trinity, and neo to flush out the old smith. the old smith had an ego, and wouldnt want a new smith to take credit for what he did. but, as you said, he may be hiding where the analyst cant find him.

Nah, I think that smith is tricked, just as neo was about this new rendition of the matrix. He even says that when they met after neo was out again. Smith was free as soon as neo was. They're the same.

This movie was terrible. The only movie I shut off half way through and felt like I truly lost time I’d never get back.
