  • New concrete is a great canvas for a resinous coating system. Being free of past chemical or mechanical damage means less concern for the unknown weakness common to old and dirty slabs. If the new slab already has a texture (such as a broom finish), even better. It would seem that it’s the perfect substrate that only needs a quick sweep or scrub to prepare. If only it were this simple.
    The video documents the removal of concrete surface laitance by shotblasting. Sometimes these unpredictable reactive compounds present as flaking and scaling. In other cases (such as this one) it requires an aggressive mechanical method to remove them.
