Parfum 10 times better than the edp
You clearly never had the EDP. The EDT was strong and long lasting too

My favorite Orchid is still Velvet Orchid. I find that one unisex too, very suitable for dark blue and purple outfits. A comparison of Black Orchid Parfum to Velvet Orchid would be more interesting in my opinion, because both are based on a dark oriental floral rum accord.
@TonyMalizia Velvet Orchid is also my favourite orchid along with White Patchouli & Orchid Soleil.

@Tony Malizia 🙂 it really does, it’s one of my favourites.
I think Black orchid parfum has a little more of a masculine scent than the EDT and EDP. The EDT and EDP are too sweet and feminine for my taste.
The word smelling probably better idea than sniffing , being all sniffed out in London could be misunderstood 🤣

Nice collab. I haven't tried but must get a decant. With Tom Fords to me it's love or hate. There's no middle ground.

With several wearings, I do get a slightly sweeter touch of indolic flowers and fruity nuances that are not present in the EDP.
The Parfum is different enough to own both.

There are actually several discounters where the fragrances are very affordable. The private blends definitely carry a hefty price, but are worth every penny 👍

Chris you've became my favorite fragrance youtuber. You put a lot of effort on your channel and the quality is top notch. I like the black orchid dna although i feel it leans a bit more feminine and i generally like more spicy tobacco pungent frags. Anyway i would like to try the new one and i hope it will be a little bit more masculine 👌

For me the Parfum is quite dramatically different. Less of the chocolate vibe, less diffusive...Its not exactly quiet, but it's a little more personal, perhaps a little bit more masculine.
I get the smell of dried fruits steeping in sweet alcohol right from the start, through the mid and until the far dry-down (where the Parfum and the EDP get a lot closer in profile). The Parfum is quite noxious when you smell it up close during the opening and I'm not sure the florals work quite so well with the rum - it's one to be cautious with spraying and I'd avoid letting anyone get too close in the first few hours.
The EDP is a little loud/sexy but that chocolate patchouli draws you in, the Parfum isn't going to repel people, but it's perhaps a little less alluring.
The EDP is a masterpiece...the Parfum not so much to my nose so far (although I need more time with it). Absolutely not redundant to own both.

I am a big fan of the black orchid edp and I actually like that it's a bit challenging / more feminine leaning
I will probably like the edp more by the sound of this, sometimes smoothing out takes the magic out, but that's a personal preference thing
I will probably still buy the parfum eventually though

I hear what you're saying but I feel the Black Orchid magic is still present. By being smoother is hasn't dulled the profile of the iconic DNA, it's just a couple of subtle changes that add extra richness.

Great video as usual, Chris. I actually really enjoy wearing the EDP. Maybe I’m in the minority, but I really enjoy the floral aspect of it (I mean it’s a darker floral...makes sense that the perfume is called Black Orchid). Really need to check out the Parfum. By the way I think you just coined a new phrase...”beast mode, but refined”. Great discussion here (loved the collab). Be well man! 👊

I sample Tom ford in the black bottle and i was very impressed, I purchase the 2020 Tom ford in the gold bottle the perfume and was blown away, beautiful sexy and seductive scent, I took a shower 6:30am this morning sprayed a few sprays of the tomb ford perfume 2020 and got loads of compliments and the ones who didn't compliment I know they smelt it, anyway it's 7:35 p.m. and the scent is still with me... I like the tom ford EDP but the gold bottle 2020 perfume is the bomb diggity 💣💥🎆❣️
Not as harsh in the opening! But i can not smell plum or rom. its 90% like the EDP. So will just stick to the O.G., a little sad in fact! would love a big rom/plum note!
Chris, I remember you saying that you really enjoyed Oud 24 Hours, maybe even preferred it over TF BO EDP.? Do you still have it? Is Parfum the best now?

Just saw ATH review where he felt this was lacking & would only be great if you layered it with the EDP version. Think combining the 2 may be tooooo strong though...

@@FRAGMENTAL I actually vowed to myself a few years ago never to buy Tom Ford again after experiencing such poor performance from different purchases (and cheap quality plastic bottles from the Private range) everyone seemed to bang on about 'Beast Mode' from TF which I never had... UNTIL I tested this new Black Orchid Parfum... I got the opposite, a lot of other reviewers said it was poor silage and longevity but this time around it was beast mode for me 😆.

I didn’t rate it. It’s just a cash in. I didn’t think the performance warrants the extra money and the gold bottle looks like bling trash. Gaudy and tasteless. It’s the kind of bottle that TF customers probably think is good taste.
A lot of people aren't liking the bottle. I don't remember Sahara Noir getting negativity surrounding it's presentation.

Hey Chris, thanks for the excellent in-depth review! Seriously appreciate the honesty you and Tony provided. I really want to grab a bottle of this for my wife but holy jeez the full gold design just looks so CHEESY!!! 😰
For me is not my cup of tea. I own BO and already try BOP and for far I prefer BO. And the skin is the key for how a fragance develop. On my skin (latin) is not a good choice BOP.
What I dislike the most about TF parfum is the disaster that is it's bottle, tacky and trashy gold. If I was going to do the bottle design for this edition I would have been taking inspiration from the edt bottle, more elegant, stylish and classy.
I need to try that parfum.. Im always coming back to black orchid because of the hype and I love it but it smells fam fatal for me and I just can't see myself in it. I'm a guy. Also detected it once on some dude and didn't like it at all on a guy.
I like Edp more than Parfum 😌
