  • Liam is an enormous fan of the Berserk franchise, and couldn't stop himself from making Guts' 100 Man Slayer sword! This 80" long beast is made almost entirely from HD Foam, making it LARP and Con safe. Carpenter here with tips and tools from another skill set. For anyone intimidated by any of the sanding because of difficulty or lack of tools, all you gotta do are two things:
1: Buy sanding drums for your power drill. They make really big ones like you would use for a rotary tool, or you could make one from a bolt, a round segment of wood, and sandpaper. You can do this by hand, but everyone has a power drill, so why not use it?
2: Mark the center of the thickness of the blade that's your edge. Take a utility knife and start carving the excess foam away and finish it with hand sanding or rotary tool and then hand sanding. You're gonna have to sand it, but it goes fast even without a belt sander. Just get as close as you can. I make replicas out of wood, and this is basically how I bevel blades. No power tools are required, but they help
Remember: power tools are only faster and more accurate, not required. Imagination and patience are perfectly acceptable alternatives to power tools

Well said! I’ve been planning out a problem solving 101 video with this same sentiment! Didn’t wanna make this video any longer than it is so we gave that warning.

Awesome job as always! Still not convinced “Ryan” is real, could just be an AI voice over.

I learned some things and you made me laugh. Especially that last "thumbnail pose". Thank you very much for making my day. Both of you.

Can you do a video on how you made the next ranger coat?

Potentially! I have a massive backlog of props to record! I’m also booked thru 2025 on commission work, what little free time I have to build something for myself is when I record a tutorial!

Very nice! Would love to see a video on the primers/sealers. What air compressor are you using for the HPLV?
