I can’t seem to find the pieces for your stop-block assembly, especially the cross-hairs. Thanks.
I'm a contractor on vacation watching you work. I think I might have a problem.
Haha. Some of us are just wired that way.
It’s very unusual to find someone who can teach a method, apply the method and do it well . You do all 3 . You’re a remarkable craftsman. There aren’t many left. I look forward to your next video.
What are you talking about? Yes, there are a bunch of craftsmen that are bad , but there are a bunch that are really good too. Can't stand people that sound like they are patting themselves on the back while writing comments. Yuck!
@@jeffmattel7867I wasn’t patting myself on my back. I was complimenting spencer on his ability to be a craftsman as well as a teacher. I’m not sure what your problem with my comment is.
I’m 69, still an active trim carpenter and woodworker. Very nice vid, guy! Thanks.
This channel should be much bigger than it is, u are one of the few creators putting out content that hasn’t already been covered a 100 times. Even if I don’t pick up any new tips (I usually do) it’s still good to see how someone else works, especially when your clearly very productive
Good to see someone who is young with a complete understanding of his tools and proper use. Your professional approach to the task is enviable as well. Been watching you for a bit and I am completely impressed with your ability and ethics. I have 30yrs experience and have always strived to do better than whats expected. I like to see what others who I consider very knowledgeable are doing.
If I lived in the greater Indianapolis area, I know who I would ask to do the finish carpentry on my home. What a craftsman.
It's awesome that you are sharing your knowledge. I do the same but no one listens 😂
U do some nice trim work there Spencer
Great efficiency ideas. Thanks for your detailed videos. I’m always trying to learn better ways to work, even after remodeling 30 plus years.
I really appreciate that you discuss creating efficient processes, and explain some details about how to accomplish it. Where I live it has been difficult for myself and others to find anyone in the trades willing (or capable) to help improve our skills and understanding. Thank you.
I'm getting ready to do my own home myself for the first time. You've helped a lot.
I want to thank you for all your great tips...I have been doing finish work for just about 43 years and I install similar to you. I also work alone, but I would enjoy trimming out a job with you.
Thank you for the video. The craftsman trim style is exactly what I want to add to my my house and here you made a video of how to do it! Perfect timing. The video for me was just the right amounting detail and I liked seeing all the tools you used! One addition to the video would be a finished picture of the window and door casing.
One of the best instructors on RUclips! Thanks man
The clamp on the window is brilliant. Never thought of that. Videos are great...Keep up the great work. I learn a ton. thanks
I'm just getting into trim work full-time, and I have watched a ton of your videos! I'm very thankful
For your content. It has been a huge blessing for a newbie like me. I would love to see how you build your portable trim board rack, shown at the beginning of this video. A video of that would be amazing!! Again, thank you so much for all the amazing content!
Very much appreciating all the info and processes that you have been sharing. I have really been able to step up my game in a very short amount of time.
Best carpenter on RUclips!
Your videos are legit Spencer no need to change a thing.
Watched 5 of your vids . . . .you are so easy to learn from . . .you have a talent for teaching
Top drawer. Excellent effort. Plan, organize, execute. Minimal waste.
I absolutely love ur videos, u r patient enough to explain all the processes, kudos
Wow.. just wow .. The attention to detail is amazing !
Good work. Apprentices should be made to watch channels like this as part of the their training.
Thanks for a very informative video. Congrats on coming up with an excellent stop block system for the miter saw
Good solid info, no fluff or b roll...subbed
Your a true professional always thriving to do things better, it’s great to see. Videos are very well done, I just got my son to subscribe as he just started an apprenticeship with me and he’ll probably learn more from yourself 😂
You do really good work and I've learned a lot from your videos to help me be more time efficent.
It never fails. I learn so much from you. Thanks again.
i visited a frame and truss plant the other day and was blown away by their cnc saw stop. They just type in the size stud they need and it would adjust the stop automatically. Simple but brilliant
Love it! Smart, well thought out way to go. Thank you for sharing!!!
Man Spencer, you are so good at your job, I love the videos and tips, it's pretty awesome that you're willing to explain and share such good techniques that people aren't familiar with. Great work my friend
Great job. I didn’t follow the stop block setup too well. You went pretty fast 👍
I am a fairly new Calif Finish Contractor. I am getting ready to do 26 craftsman style windows. I do not have that Compound Miter set up and for me you went thru it fairly fast why you have the set up to comp for certain lengths. I can watch that part a couple times though and catch on.
I am running a Bosh Axial & have for 3 years and like it.
Use my track saw a lot probably need to spring for a contractor table saw however I am pushing to do more cabinets add on, doors , vanities, custom base, treads, crown and tables! Love making custom tables!
Anyway you are solid carpenter! Quick and accurate!
Anyway let’s see how you do at 61?
I retired from one job & found myself needing work for me!
And here I am Good Lord Willing and creeks don’t rise be here at least till 75 ?
Love the Lord, tools, building, helping Gods ppl!
Keep it up stay true to your King!
Excellent presentation.
Excellent content and presentation, Yes you the consummate craftsman, but more than that, is that you are a great teacher and humble exemplar! I claim to be as much a craftsman as you, but you sir have me beat in the attitude and execution department by a country mile !
Absolutely love your work
Thanks for the vid. Love to learn new things to make things more faster and efficient .
God bless you you are an inspiring Craftsman 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Loving the efficiency to save time. 👍🏼👍🏼
Another fantastic video thanks again for taking the extra time and thought
Great channel! Great content. I also would like a short video on your material racks. I truly appreciate the lessons that you are trying to show on jobsite management and efficiency. Thanks and God Bless
Looks great!
Ive got that same 15 gauge gun. I love it. Thing has never failed me. I also bought the 18 gauge. I think they make the best guns
Absolutely wonderful teaching
great video! i always learn something from your videos!
Love your vids. Thanks for the lessons. 🙏🏼
Ha! Never heard a finish carpenter say, “I don’t typically carry a chisel.”
Went from tons of respect to NONE.
IMMEDIATELY.
Then I went back to ALL RESPECT since that means you don’t have to fine tune anything.
Solid video, Boss.
Great video. Looking forward to many more. I would like to see some similar videos but with using stained/prefinished trim in comparison to the painted trim.
Yours is an efficient way to window/door trim, I'd like if you could do a video about your miter saw set up. Keep it up!
And thank you for your fine work and these educational Videos!!
The mini leaf blowers are awesome...
You don't know how much you need it till you have one.
Another awesome video!
I freakin’ love this channel.
I like the fact you don't cut returns on your header ends , it's a waste of time and you still get a great look . Great work !!
Yes, it would take way longer to miter the returns. I do on stain grade but not paint grade. I'd have to double my price for mitered returns.
Excellent job all around
Love the blower have one myself and use it to blow out the customers garages that I work in.
As always, thank you!
As always efficiency and proficiency all rolled into one. Great job all around.
Great work and teaching. Just subscribed
Very smart layout.
Bravo maestro.well explained .i learning so much from u .thanks
Iearning a lot - thank you for the information !
excellent video mate fancy doing a review of those bags had my eye on them for a while
I appreciate your professional, unscripted, matter of fact, no nonsense delivery of your trade techniques. It takes a considerable amount of time to organize, produce, and narrate these videos. Thank you for sharing and demonstrating your best practice methods for efficiency, production, and profit. Do you often have to fabricate and/or install interior extension jambs for those Anderson Windows? I noticed only because the extension jambs (in some shots)were clear pine. Keep up the great work!
Thanks. I almost never have to deal with extension jambs. The come preinstalled or are installed at the time of the window install.
Great job
Great teaching videos, lots of new ideas.
Off set on wing is a great idea.
Would be nice to see your work after it is painted!! Thanks for the videos.
Good stuff my man
Spencer I really like that style of trim. Any pictures of what it looks like after paint is completed would be great.
Very nice love your work
Great job! If I were building I’d want u to do my trim. Also I’m learning a lot. Thank you!
Another great video. Great methods/ setup to do high quality work at a production speed. Can you do a video on how you set doors?
When we are fitting trims and the painters are there, every time they hear the gun go off they look at us because they know each time it goes off that's another hole that needs filling 😂😂😂
Nice work
Great Job
Nicely Done 🔨📐
do a video about the business side of trimming out houses. How do you get work? How do you come up with a price? etc..
Good idea , i'd like to here more about this topic.
Very Professional approach, Good work habits, suggestions: add an additional close-up video of the jig in use. Although I get what you're doing, it leave room for speculation as to what you're doing.
I enjoy your work, as always.... Thanks for sharing 🙂
awesome tips thank you for sharing and I just subscribed
Gotta love that mud buildup lol.
Excellent video. Great idea with the clamps pulling in the sill. You do a lot of different finish work so you get to see a lot of different styles. What are your personal thoughts on this style that you did? I’m doing all of my trim over in my colonial house. There are so many options
Would also love to see your preferred method of installing newels at the top of a landing
Thank You !
It’s so true that when you make videos , you think you’re gonna bore people , so far from the truth though , your content is perfect everytime , I know this was a year ago but still as good as today , this popped up on my recommended 🤷♂️ but i watched it because The stop block set up 👌 I’m in the process of making my wings 🤙🤙
Thanks man! I appreciate it. That stop block is a total game changer.
Insider Carpentry I know mate , I’ve seen you using it in other videos where you don’t have to measure short points etc..... I’m adding so much to my daily routines from what you do 🤙🤙 efficiency, and I’ll tell you, people are seeing the difference, if only you knew how many times I say “this finish carpenter on RUclips that I watch” haha
Great video kid!
Do you install interior doors? If so a video on your method of install would be awesome.
Gary Katz's process on the This is Carpentry channel is the best I've seen and I wouldn't be surprised if he used something similar. Literally cut my install times in half.
@@ryanern18 Really helped me as well
What’s a good way to get started in the finish carpentry world? Looking at a career change. Great video. Looking forward to the next one.
You do a great job, I picked up a lot of good tips for replacing all my old colonial casing and 70’s-cheesy baseboard. I notice you’re not concerned about the rosebuds left by the nail gun. I know they will just get filled with the nail holes, but what do you do on trim that will be stained?
Video about cutting the width of casing ,in production style. Specially with wavy walls and the door hinge in the way.[rarely door jambs are dead on straight]
I got a suggestion for base coping
I love seeing your videos. My wife is wanting to some remodeling and this is helping me a lot. How do you mark out the sides when ablying them?
You are awesome! Very efficient and great quality work. I love this style and I’m curious if you had returns on the architrave to hide the end grains?
I don’t return it when it’s paint grade.
Another fantastic video! Do you use a straight edge against your side trims when installing to make sure that your header will square nicely with no gaps ?
Good video
excellent video ///// improvements = serve beer and sausage pizza
Can you do a video of how to build Custom closets, Great work by the way! 😎👍
I don't do closets. The builder subs those out to a closet company.
What is your suggestion for pulling drywall in when the window doesn't open (ie - fixed window)? Love your channel - you are a great teacher.
Great information. How does your installation technique change using pre-stained trim and this same craftsman style where you can't caulk? Do you ever use glue and pocket holes to secure head pieces to side jambs?
Amazing video, as always! Love learning all these tips and tricks from a real master. Please continue taking the time and effort to film and edit these, I truly appreciate them!
Really looking forward to hearing about your recent DiamondBack-to-Occidental switch!
My stupid questions is: What hook is on your 15ga gun? I have a 16ga Hitachi, and I bought an after-market hook that flops around too much --yours looks solid.
High fives from Canada!
=-Kev
amzn.to/31KQ9lS Its a senco hook.
Perhaps because I'm dealing with stain grade, where putting a mark on a painted wall would not work so well, I find having a little piece of wood similar to the one that you have, but with a notch in it, works pretty well for setting up the pieces as I install them. But at least for painted projects, using a pencil certainly simplifies things to the point that you can do them while distracted, as you say. Well done. Edit. One serious suggestion I would make is getting a splitter so you don't have to switch your air hose between guns. I often use three different guns when doing trim, and they're all plugged in to a divider it has individual pressure controls at the divider. That way I'm never using a heavier nail than necessary. I'm not saying that you are. I'm just saying I think you will find not having to switch the hose will save time and hassle.
