Waylon left too early ! I had just discovered the country music when he disappeared. It wasn't part of my culture since i'm French. But thanks to music of Waylon, Willie, Johnny, Kris (The Highwaymen) life is more bearable. It's does good to the soul. I love his powerful, warm voice (with a certain fragility in the ballads). There are some of these singers who make me feel like I'm building an invisible bridge between earth and sky with their voices. And Waylon is part of it with Roy Orbison, John Denver, Elvis (for me). My very 1st live gig ever fronting my real country band was the night Waylon was in concert across town. I had never seen him live and wanted too really bad. We played several of his songs. And even though i missed his concert. I couldn't help but think while i was singing. That Waylon probably would have been glad i was playing real country music to others, instead of being at his concert. THE OUTLAW KING FOREVER !!!

I grew up in Newfoundland, Canada, with the last name Jennings. I also grew up with Waylon Jennings in two ways. My parents played his records all the time and when my youngest brother was born, we all agreed to name him Waylon. He says that his name has opened many doors for him. Listening to Whey brings back many happy memories. Thank you for this. My Dad passed in December at the age of 85, just realized that him and Waylon were the same age.

I took my brother to his first concert when he was 15. It was Waylon in a small venue in Lancaster California. It was mostly middle aged people just sitting enjoying the concert. My little brother was so moved to being in the presence of Waylon, he stood up and yelled, "WAYLON!!!!!" It was priceless. Music is just not the same. God bless all enjoying this video! He was the “GOAT” the legend. He made his music his own way and people fell in love with him and a lot of artist followed in his footsteps. Much respect and love, the king is singing in heaven looking down and smiling!
I grew up listening to Waylon with my family. There was no one like him and his music was authentic, unique, amazing as hell and he changed country music forever. I had the honor to finally meet him and his lovely wife in person while working at the world's fair in New Orleans. I still have the drumsticks from that concert and a few things that I was given. It meant everything to meet him. He was in person exactly as he was on t.v. His music still lives on in my home today and my family's.
imo WAYLON was the best singer in country or any genre ever! I feel so blessed and so grateful that I got to see him in concert in April 1995 when he returned to the SURF ballroom for the 1st and only time since the night of Buddy's plane crash. I have multiple cassettes and LP's of his that have seen me though many sad and happy times.

I remember in the '80's, my parents gave me their wooden RCA cabinet style record player. I would sit on the floor with my chin up there, watching the LP's spin and listening to the music (mostly Waylon, by far) coming out of the speakers. Somehow I got away with that until as late as three in the morning, with not a single complaint from my Mom or Dad. In fact, the first few albums in my collection were my Dad's. The first one I bought for myself was "Music Man" in 1980. For years I went for walks after college or work, more often than not listening to Waylon cassettes on my Walkman radio. I even took that thing on the bus with me to pass the time. In later years the manager of a local music shop would hold a copy of Waylon's new releases for me when they came in. My Mom will turn 86 this month, and she still listens to Waylon and the Highwaymen with me, and watches them on RUclips. It does my heart good to see Waylon's legacy of music and love passing down through generations. The last song I sang to my wife before she passed was a Waylon ballad. I saw Waylon live twice, in 1989 and 1996. I'm thankful for that. When he announced his "retirement" in 1992, I wrote him a letter, which I normally never do. A few weeks later one of my prized possessions came in the mail, a personalized autograph from the man. Yeah, Waylon music is part of my life. God bless all of you, and Happy Heavenly Birthday, Waylon!

You were the BEST! My Mom and Dad are from Coolidge, AZ so they first met Waylon here, then followed him when he played in Phoenix. I was blessed to see him a few times in Concerts.

This is a great tribute to Waylon
He was the “GOAT” the legend. He made his music his own way and people fell in love with him and a lot of artist followed in his footsteps. Much respect and love, the king is singing in heaven looking down and smiling!
I grew up listening to Waylon with my family. There was no one like him and his music was authentic, unique, amazing as hell and he changed country music forever. I had the honor to finally meet him and his lovely wife in person while working at the world's fair in New Orleans. I still have the drumsticks from that concert and a few things that I was given. It meant everything to meet him. He was in person exactly as he was on t.v. His music still lives on in my home today and my family's.
imo WAYLON was the best singer in country or any genre ever! I feel so blessed and so grateful that I got to see him in concert in April 1995 when he returned to the SURF ballroom for the 1st and only time since the night of Buddy's plane crash. I have multiple cassettes and LP's of his that have seen me though many sad and happy times.

I remember in the '80's, my parents gave me their wooden RCA cabinet style record player. I would sit on the floor with my chin up there, watching the LP's spin and listening to the music (mostly Waylon, by far) coming out of the speakers. Somehow I got away with that until as late as three in the morning, with not a single complaint from my Mom or Dad. In fact, the first few albums in my collection were my Dad's. The first one I bought for myself was "Music Man" in 1980. For years I went for walks after college or work, more often than not listening to Waylon cassettes on my Walkman radio. I even took that thing on the bus with me to pass the time. In later years the manager of a local music shop would hold a copy of Waylon's new releases for me when they came in. My Mom will turn 86 this month, and she still listens to Waylon and the Highwaymen with me, and watches them on RUclips. It does my heart good to see Waylon's legacy of music and love passing down through generations. The last song I sang to my wife before she passed was a Waylon ballad. I saw Waylon live twice, in 1989 and 1996. I'm thankful for that. When he announced his "retirement" in 1992, I wrote him a letter, which I normally never do. A few weeks later one of my prized possessions came in the mail, a personalized autograph from the man. Yeah, Waylon music is part of my life. God bless all of you, and Happy Heavenly Birthday, Waylon!
