China leads global truck sales with Flathead Trucks; a contrast to U.S.' Longhead Trucks.

  • China's truck sales have topped the global charts for three consecutive years, outpacing traditional automobile powerhouses like the U.S. and Japan. Despite starting its auto industry half a century later, China's rapid development has resulted in powerful and dominant heavy truck technology.
Several factors contribute to China's success. One significant factor is the development of China's diesel engine technology, which progressed from outdated to world-class. The foundation established in power systems is a key reason for China's robust truck sales today. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic provided a unique opportunity for Chinese auto companies. While foreign factories shut down, Chinese manufacturing remained largely unaffected, leading to a surge in domestic truck sales.
Chinese trucks are appreciated in the international market for their reliable quality, excellent technology, and affordability. Their increasing presence in foreign construction sites and infrastructure projects, especially in underdeveloped areas, has boosted sales significantly.
Despite the popularity of American long-nosed trucks, Chinese flat-nosed trucks have proven more suitable for complex terrains and offer higher cargo capacity. These trucks have gained global recognition for their innovative design and function, contributing to the success of Chinese auto companies.
The future of Chinese trucks looks promising, with a focus on green environmental protection and the development of electric technology. The evolution of Chinese trucks, from traditional diesel engines to potential future electric truck leaders, signifies a significant shift in the global auto industry.

The Trucking sales is going the same way as car industry did in 1970s onward for the American car sales internationally. American manufacturers want other countries to ADAPT to American ways of doing things, while failing to understand, not whole World goes by American standards. Japanese realized that flaw in American car industry approach internationally way back in 1970s, so Japanese started setting up small mainly hatch back Assembly plants in countries that America did not consider worthy of selling, mainly in 3rd World, due to 3rd World's preference of small, affordable, now Japanese Car industry is well established all over the World. Chinese are adapting to the 3rd World requirement of Truck market, for an affordable, flat head, easily maneuverable, truck, that uses less gasoline, and can travel on relatively narrow and smaller roads of the whole World. So, we Americans can not blame China, for American truck industry not realizing and not adopting to Flat Head, cheaper Heavy duty trucks, for International Market. Japan had also done quite well in Truck Assembly, Internationally, well ahead of Europe Trucks (Too expensive), and American Trucks (too expensive as well as too big, front Long Nose, parts not easily available).

US trucks are antiquated and built with ridiculous wheelbases and oversized sleeper cabs. The Chinese truck manufacturers build prime movers up to 800hp plus, such as the Shacman. 500 to 560 horsepower engines are no longer the norm in the global transport industry. The fallacy that "long nosed" trucks are safer fails to compare with the collision avoidance technology in Chinese trucks. Chinese cab overs are equal to the big European marques. A standard 480hp tractor unit in China often works pulling 250 tonnes of coal. When will US operators realise payload is profit, not ridiculously long prime movers with exotic sleeper cabs . The authorities also need to get with the rest of the world and increase the gross weights and axle configurations. The two axle spaced semi trailers are the most ridiculous I've ever seen. In New Zealand , Australia and the rest of the world, triaxle and four axle semis are the most common and four and five axle pull trailers are towed by three and four axle rigid trucks. Long wheel based prime movers are falling behind the capabilities of the cab overs. Profit is created by intelligent specifications and combinations, not exotic oversized long prime movers operating at 80,000lbs gross. Get with it.

The US has about 250,000km of railway compared with 100,000km for China, 85,000 for Russia and 65,000 for India. The US has very little passenger railway but is very strong for industrial / commercial railway.

Is it possible to survive the railways in most longer routes? So many are very unreliable, and you're lucky if you come out with your life in many city subways also. My Dad worked his way to one of the top positions in New York metro North railway, and they've always known over the years, most of the infrastructure money never went to USA transportation.
He said China was rapidly improving years ago and today's high speed trains are from the future and rapidly growing from 43,000 km at 350km per hour and more soon. Plus, the even faster magnetic levitation trains are growing also.
Airplanes are slower in some ways because high speed trains have no baggage checks and other processes save time and money.

There is a lot of European truck technology in the Chinese trucks.
      Sitrak is 20% MAN owned.
      FAW has MAN cabs.
They are around 2/3rds the price of the Europe trucks.
American trucks are too light to handle loads required in Southern Africa.

When China has steadily improved the quality of their steel production, it is just a matter of time their truck production will improve. Lately it was reported that they have banned the production of mild steel, obviously they could not "force" the Chinese people not to use mild steel for many of their projects but by producing only stainless steel, the people will simply "force" to use better quality steel. In the long term, the nation will have plenty of "saving" in renewing small projects which used to use mild steel! It may look "undemocratic" but soon enough people will appreciate the better quality and cost saving!

    • @SafepathUS

Exactly as I pointed out at my school bus job before my home improvements business.
The money truck 💰 only transports money and the drivers are not to risk thier lives if a robbery happens. So I always remind others that our precious future must be better protected than glass window school busses and much safer like an armored bus which makes more sense.
However since the pandemic compared to over priced public schools systems, most people agree there's hundreds of advantages Homeschooling because any age students get 30 - 50% better quality results and in less time. Plus a long list of other life's advantages ongoing as a result of Homeschooling.
Plus our US lost prominence in many topics recent years especially education as recent years China and Singapore ranked 1st and 2nd in P.I.S.A, the world's most difficult university entrance exam results and sadly our US was ranked 22nd place.
We must give respect to China's rapid improvements and give credit where it's due and with sharing, we're always learning better quality ourselves as our grandparents teachings proved to be best life long results making everything independent and less of being puppets.
Safety needs to replace profits 📈 over people's interests and smarter Homeschooling over greedy corporations profits agendas.

This is only true sometimes for cars and EVs as the area's demand of orders rapidly can rise or lower, but trucks are nowhere near as much, in fact, very few in comparison. We have friends in China, the world's largest market, and the small percentage of loss isn't anywhere near as much as most people assume. The technology is also rapidly improving, and many of the unused products go to donations, also helping improve others.
