I like your take that we should celebrate players who play 100% of basketball by dominating both offensively and defensively. Why do we keep celebrating players who only play 50% like Luka, Clark, or even Jokic. More people should use that take. I think the tide is turning. It’s being recognized as a norm in the WNBA with Wilson. And I think it will start to become the norm in the NBA with players like Wembenyama, Shai, Edwards, etc coming up who I think will dominate winning MVPs based on their dominance of 100% of basketball, not 50%. I think DEFENSIVE ANALYTICS will continue to improve to the point where people can start building NARRATIVES off of it, so it becomes easy to talk and make arguments about it like offensive stats.
