I use google lens. It’s not an app on its own it’s a feature in a couple google apps. I use it to snap pictures directly from my google search app but if I’m out at a shop and don’t get good data signal then I’ll just take a picture and use the lens feature from google photos. It’s not always the best, it will usually get the genus but if you want the species your usually on your own. It does let you give feedback so you can tell it it didn’t get it right. Don’t know if it learns from the feedback but I wouldn’t be surprised considering it’s google.
I recommend Grow it! People in the app like you and me identify the plants. It is not identified right away but its nice to leave in your collection as people comment on what they say it is.
I've been using PlantSnap for the past year. I didn't even know about Picture this. I'll be checking it out soon. BUT I will said that everything that Picture This offers so does PlantSnap. It seemed like you kind of sped thru the PlantSnap part, lol. All of the info/care sheets it offers. And it even gave you different options when it pulled up guesses. And theres an art to taking the pictures. That's what the stretchy box is for. 😋
I have the app, PlantSnap, but haven't really used it that much, I got it because it was free, and it was the one that looked the most interesting. Great video Jolene, it's nice to see you try other ones and to let us know what you thought was the best. Thanks again, see you soon.
I've tried plant snap and picture this and picture this is the best of the lot. If been fiddle with it for about a year. When it's right it's right with all the helpful additional information. And when it's incorrect it normally points me in the right direction.
With PlantSnap you get 10 free shots per day. Usually circles appear on screen over the leaves & you click that. They also recommended a plain background so the app can pick up the image of the plant better, it’s helped me identify the 30+ of my houseplants of. It’ll sometimes give you other choices if the first one it’s ‘chosen’ isn’t correct. I tend to use it to identify some of mine & it did quite well: plus it’s free! 😊 Your plants are beautiful! 😍
Look how big your Angel Begonia is now! I just bought 2 begonias and have no idea what they are. The first app was so vague. "It is a houseplant." "It is yarn." LOL. It looks like it is analyzing the shape of the leaves.
I recommend PlantSnap it actually works really well. It successfully identified all of my houseplants (30+) you just need to read their tutorial on how to take pictures for the best results also if it doesn't show you the right one click more options
I think your background blanket interrupted the clear possibility of identifying it correctly! Try putting the plant on a completely white background and try again! This was fun though!
Try google lens! I use it and it is really good at identifying! I love it. I was able to identify dischidia that was sold to me as a Hoya and now I use it all the time!
Just as an fyi Google has a built in feature that lets you take pictures and it will give you different result ! 100% that I have used it, it got it right !
I like "picture this" more... it has actually never dissappointed me.. you can upload your plant photos there as well as you can find a plant by comparing your plant with photos other people has uploaded.. i find it quite convenient to use...
It's an uphill battle for humans to identify these sometimes! Esp only from a single leaf, and not knowing about growth habits, flowers etc. These apps had no chance!
I payed for the 3 month membership of that app and never got a response from my first two messages, nor did I get my unlimited credits. I emailed them and never got a response. Wrote a review and they pretty much responded "email us". That app and the developers are trash.
I love picture this

PlantNet is also a great app! Not sure though if it's available for IOS.
I’ve been using SmartPlant™ however you only get 1 plant identifier per month..:)
