Update: just got back from my appt with Dr. Yousefian and couldn't be more pleased. The range of options that were laid out for pre-surgical treatment are wide, and I feel like a participant in the planning of my treatment from this point forward leading up to MMA. Looking forward to perhaps discussing some of the pros and cons of those options with you Ron.
Great consultation Ron! I had a similar situation as Robby but less TMJ pain and more sleep breathing problems. I went to Dr. Yousefian and he gave me an Apnodent which had the surprising effect of eliminating my TMJ pain and clicking while giving me an edge-to-edge bite. My mandible refused to go back to its old dysfunctional position. One palatal expander, a double jaw surgery, and multiple sets of Invisalign later, and I finally have a functional bite and airway. Good luck Robby!
You're in very good hands. Just be prepared that you may have an odd bite for a while until you get jaw surgery! The sleep improvement will be worth it though@@RobbyBrookss
@thePTCstudios I am 20 years old an I feel like I have the same issue, as you I don't know if I have tmj bro my left side of my face looks weak compared to the right side , ear feel clog I i hear a ring sometimes only on the left side, crazy how I just turn 20 in October an on the left side of my teeth the wisdom teeth is appearing an thoes tmj side sideeffects feel worse for the left side. .. I don't know what's the next move should I remove the wisdom or idk man I tend to look at the mirror every time an feel conscious of the way I look sometimes my jawline looks Sharp then the next day I see a bit of fat , then I stay up watching videos like these
@@skinsolvesk2813i also experience ringing, sometimes ear piercing. In fact im having an episode of it as I type this. Definitely not a good sign, but could be evidence of a different underlying condition. Although based on your comment, sounds like you’re experiencing the same early onset TMJ symptoms that I am. But I will update when I get back from Dr. Youseffian’s office as im sure he will shed some light on exactly what’s happening in my case
What I like very much with Robby is the high quality of his communication and how he articulates his ideas antecedentely and causely. Hope to see him again over here to get a proper follow-up of his progress.
“Sensitivity (and hyperawareness) are a double-edged sword. It can lead to insanity, or it can lead to genius.” I love that SO much and can really relate to it.
Not sure I agree that the "orthodontist is the quarterback". If you go to someone like Walline or Gunson, they are deciding the surgical plan and will ask your orthodontist to do whatever they need with your teeth (if anything). Dr. Kasey Li also said in one of his recent videos that he doesn't really care what the orthodontist says because they arent the one doing the surgery. He's deciding the movements, especially when it's airway focused. Some orthodontists actually give surgeons headaches when they try to call the shots. I believe Marianna Evans has gotten into trouble for this with some surgeons.
Thanks is good insight. I think for patients doing nasomaxillary expansion prior to surgery, the ortho needs to quarterback at least the "1st half of the game." Overall, though, I am inclined to agree with you.
I believe John Mew would say Biobloc, stage 1 in particular, would help solve Robby’s main issue. The first step in Biobloc Orthotropics is to move the upper front teeth to their ideal position in the face (typically 8-10 mm). This is accomplished with a removable appliance, worn 24 hours a day.
@@JawHacksof course Biobloc was and is meant for children lol but John Mew has stated he has had successful adult cases. In Robby’s case, as I can relate, it would depend on how many mm the front incisors would need to be tipped. Imo, a few mm would be safe and doable given he has healthy roots.
@thePTCstudios 99% of surgieries have a requirement of removing your wisdom teeth. That is another side effect of surgery you have to be okay with 4 less teeth in your mouth.
i believe that is only the case if the wisdom teeth have failed to come in, and will subsequently obstruct proper bone healing after surgery. Mine are in fortunately
Hey Ron! Been watching for a while. Finally realized I need a MSE. Originally was planning on using the Gelb center. My son is seeing a provider there and has been wearing a myobrace. He has tongue thrust and mouth breaths Also, we both ADHD. Luckily, he will avoid MSE since his treatment is preventative.but after seeing Dr. Lipkin on your channel, I scheduled a consultation. Is it worth the travel? I live all the way in Brooklyn btw. Much blessings! Keep up the good work! 👍
I also have tmj symptoms and one side of my jaw looks more aesthetic than the other and hugs the face better as he described it… I definitely don’t have enough money for jaw surgery, but even so are there any good people in Canada ?
I thought I had some issue with my ears related to jaw issues. Turns out I went to an ENT and they just discovered that I had a big wad of wax in both ears that was causing all the discomfort. 30 seconds to suck out the wax and it totally solved everything.
i was hoping for the same result after visiting the ENT last year, but no change unfortunately after 2 ear cleanings and plenty of wax buildup removed. In fact i had so much at one point there was clumps falling out of my ears believe it or not
having almost the exact same face shape, I can’t mew AT ALL, the second I put my tounge to the top of my mouth it blocks my throat. If that’s the case like me, double jaw surgery is the only option…
I literally have the exact same issues down to the tee as this guy does, I’ve been looking at palate expansion to maybe be the issue but I measured my molar width as 44mm as well and I have pain when my jaw sits back where all my teeth touch but I’ve been using a intentional fixed jaw posture for numerous years now
Super interesting. How does one get on this with you? My story is interesting and need some advice. I recently spoke with Gunson and think I am going to go through with DJS.
This guy looks like me, I’m now 36, he definitely needs jaw surgery if mewwing does help for the next two years. Dr Alfi is the only one I can find adequate but am in Thailand now searching, Taiwan might also be an option I am checking out next month…
I'm 17 and have some very similar issues but also poor posture and very narrow palate (no noticeable tmj problems tho). Would it be too soon to go for surgery at this age, and if so what should I do in the meantime?
I detected low tongue posture (especially when speaking), and a very thick bulbous lower lip due to wrong swallowing pattern. You can see when he swallows, his mouth gets very strained
unfortunately no, my tongue posture has been quite good as ive mewed for the past several months. And how would one make such an observation about tongue posture when speaking, as the tongue is constantly moving?
haha thanks but trust me man i know my face, and the pseudo double chin is certainly there. I should have provided some examples for the conversation with Ron, my apologies
@@RobbyBrookss You can look better with surgery yes. But even now you look good. Recommend reza movahed he puts emphasis on the joints and air way opening.
