Yeah it's getting real old. If the ministry was really so concerned about moose, I don't understand how putting moose entirely on LEH with any antlered moose being legal isn't a better alternative. I'd say a lot of people would be on board with this even if tougher draw odds were necessary to make that happen. Say you'd get a moose tag once every 3-4 years. When a person gets drawn, you have a strong chance of filling a tag. The ministry would have a better ideal of moose harvest rates from each MU, and it would significantly help with the issue of trigger-happy folks who shoot an illegal bull and leave it to rot because there were too many (or not enough) antler tines. It's really crazy.
The point restrictions are specific to LEH tags? Or for OTC tags? For LEH, why wouldn't they just issue an any antlered moose tag? Coming from Alberta...I's say we got it better.
The antler point restrictions are in addition to drawing an LEH tag. Some areas still have short (2 day) open seasons but again, still with antler restrictions. Yes, logic would assume an LEH tag would be good for any bull. The Ministry of Forests is doing a horrendous job.
I cant stand the restriction my buddy had a drew in fort sant John in September we saw 2 bull with him both not legal and I was out bye myself looking for elk saw 3 bull that wear legal
@@GetOutdoorsNoExcuses I think that is a good thing. My son and I went out for a solid week this year in September, but it was so warm we really didn't see much. Glad to see you guys had some luck with the elk. We had six legal bull elk show up at my place about two weeks after the season closed. Lol
agreed, absolutely hate the antler restrictions that's why i put in for McBride area, no restrictions lol

Went out a couple times with LEH.. trying to count points was frustrating. Seen so many bulls that were between 3 and 9 points.
I have a feeling a lot of the bulls we see late in the season have been looked over many, many times.

In Idaho, it’s strictly lottery for moose tags. I may never draw a moose tag in my home state, so I’m going to Alberta this fall and Alaska next year.
Good luck, hopefully you have some great hunts!

Thank you, it will be a great experience
Curious why you did not follow those fresh tracks... huntingin the snow is the best because you an follow tracks
I'm assuming you're meaning the tracks at 9:28 of the video. Those moose went into a treed area with very little visibility. Thanks for your comment!
The LEH with antler restriction is a joke! The only benefit is that there are fewer non-locals coming up north.
There definitely seemed to be less traffic in the backcountry this year.

Well - at least you have the opportunity of hunting an adult moose during the general season - down south its spike fork or LEH only.
Fun stuff! 😀
