Hi Sertug, I tried once a Braunstein, on a sample i did found nice, but only thing i remember is that it had a finish (didn't review it, as I have too many samples late to be reviewed). I'm not sure I'll fully agree on your opinion/statement about World whiskies malts (not only the age but often the production methods differ), but agree for some. About Danish whiskies i only tried another distillery's products, Stauning (probably around 10 expressions now), and I was impressed for instance about the 7 different expressions I tried last year & I really recommend you to have a try. Even their weird (on the paper) finishes were great, as the balance was always on point, unlike some of other distilleries do, including Scotch ones. So several ones are on my wishlist.
Everyone has a different palate and that's the fun of it to share opinions and try different things 😃 I liked the Staunings I tried and if I see another Braunstein with nothing else around I might give it a shot but this one was not enjoyable at all. Cheers
Good review, I enjoy this series, even though I'm a Scotch lover, its cool to learn about other country's single malts and other whiskeys, and its fun to sample them when I get the chance. Some are pretty good. Too bad this one is not so great. As for Scotch, I just picked up a bottle of Highland Park 12 yr Viking Honour, first time trying one from this distillery. Any thoughts on it?
Thanks, glad you like the series. Samples and whisky clubs/friends are a great way to try new things at a low cost. I like Highland Park, I think they make tasty whiskies. Sure we can fault them for not presenting craft but I always enjoyed the HP s I tried. Search for that heathery, honeyed peat :)
@@thewhiskyenthusiast It is tasty, I get the heather for sure, it's a little medicinal at the start, I get very little honey, I'll keep searching for that! You are right, it is tasty! Cheers
As a Dane, I have to agree with you... To be fair, I haven't tried many Danish whiskies, but the ones I have tried I'm not a fan of. It's often hard to find anything on the nose and the taste is often just boring... I will continue to betray my own country and buy Scottish instead...!
