    When I went to Brest France there was this pizza joint that had wine bottles on the tables with oil and herbs that you would pour on your pizza. They would use the whole branch that was dried and placed upside down in the bottle. Will do this this week. Thank you for allowing me to remember this.

    Well in the 4 years I been infusing my oils I never thought of the crockpot method. Thank you for this because this will now be my go to for when I get custom orders because in a regular I have a 5 gallon plastic jug that I use to infuse my oils and I let it sit for at least 3 months before I bottle it to sell or put in my cosmetics. Thanks for your tutorial because I now learned a quicker method

      @draconite420 2 дня назад

      @@telisah9611 well mold and rot need moisture, water to grow, there is very little water in the oil and ofc the herbs are dried. I suppose if you get mold it would be due to an error on the part of the the preparation of doing this.

    Wouldn't the heat generate steam inside the jar? I'm thinking the water from the steam may drop in the oil which may create mold and bacteria?.. idk.. what's wrong with heating up the oil and dry herbs uncovered?

    • @MelissaKNorris
      @MelissaKNorris  5 лет назад +5

      I've never had that problem as there's no moisture inside the jar for it generate steam from. Uncovered and you can get steam or splashing from the water. If you're careful (my kitchen tends to be busy) you can try it however you wish.

    What is the difference between making you own infused oils and essential oils?

    • @sapphiresapphic

      Essential oils are very concentrated and should be used with a carrier oil

    Hi, thank you for the tutorial, really appreciate it. Is is mandatory to strain/remove herbs from the infused oil or can the herbs be left in the jar/bottle until oil is all used up?
    Many thanks

    • @Romans828girl
      @Romans828girl 11 месяцев назад +1

      I'm new to this, but I think the problem is that as the oil is used up and the top of the herbs are exposed to the air, they can mold. You never want your herbs to be sticking up above the level of the oil. I think that's the reason for removing them.

      It may not work too well since they’ve been made into powder. There’s less oils in powder (if any). You want those oils and nutrients from the dried herbs to infuse into the oil.
