Well I guess if there are people that aren't too into the technical side of things, I wouldn't have too much of a problem with them swapping out the PSU, as long as they keep the old one in the cabinet for someone else to fix later.
The reason the DC side's plug was so burnt is probably because the headers on the board had cold solder joints as well. Overall, it definitely wasn't very happy.
Good job on the power supply rebuild. I hate how people are too lazy to rebuild the original power supply and replace it with a switcher.
