  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opens this Friday, June 28th!
Each week, we cover the top stories in Disney Parks news and discuss the topics that are top of mind for the Disney community. All in 60 minutes!
Welcome to ParksCenter on WDWNT.TV! We're back with more news and discussing the latest happenings in Disney Parks. Join us live at 9pm ET!
We're back after a couple of weeks off and have so much to catch up on with you!
On June 10th, the final piece of the EPCOT multi-year re-imagining opened to the public, Communicore Hall. This new flex space includes an indoor seated hall, new restrooms, a Mickey and Friends meet and greet space, a Festival Favorites food stand, and an outdoor plaza. We'll talk about the new area and the overall project now that it's completed. Or is it? On June 17th, Disney closed Test Track to prepare for a renovation that was teased back at Destination D23.
Over at Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been in previews since last we met, and now that cast members, DVC and Annual Passholders have had a chance to experience the ride, it officially opens this Friday, June 28th! We'll look at the merch, the stores, the food, and all the things you'll need to know for your first trip down the bayou!
To celebrate EPCOT and Tiana opening, Disney invited the press to come to Florida to see the new space, take a ride on Tiana's Bayou Adventure, and released some new information including an opening date for the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, as well as giving a glimpse of a brand new show to replace Voyage of the Little Mermaid later this year. Josh D'Amaro also said that when D23 Expo rolls around this August, there will be more announcements outside of Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. We'll look at all this and what else Disney might be planning as they invest $17 billion into Florida over the next 2 decades. Could this finally mean a 5th gate?
Speaking of new parks, Universal gave us a preview of another land coming to Epic Universe - Dark Universe! The 6 minute video they dropped walks us through all the rides, shops, and food that they've dreamed up for the new land. Could this be a giant leap forward for the theme park industry?
Disney has also dropped more news about Halloween offerings on both coasts, including ticket on-sale dates for Oogie Boogie Bash at DCA, and news about opening the Haunted Mansion in time for the spooky season. Also, at Walt Disney World, they've been testing characters and fireworks for their celebrations.
There's much more to discuss including 626 Day offerings, DVC updates, Holiday 2024 announcements, and another installment of our segment about strange stories called "It Came From The Parks!"
Join us for all of this tonight on ParksCenter!

If Disney World had a 5th gate, what should it be and why? Give me real or give me funny.

  • @joeschmoe5231

For vacationers with an average family of four who live outside Florida I don't see how you can avoid going into debt for Disney vacations. As long as you plan out how to pay it back quickly. Once you include flights, hotels, rental cars, souvenirs, fastpasses, etc it starts to add up. And I dont get the people that say "pack a lunch" and "dont buy souvenirs". People want to actually enjoy their vacations and give their kids what they want.

Inside Out needs to be incorporated to take advantage of the success. The emotions would make for learning and entertainment. With the current focus on mental health you could check all boxes and use IP to boot.

Good to see you guys again. You make my Monday morning

The on screen talent on parks center and on most channels all talk about preserving the magic, when you said that the wide world of sports could be turned into a theme park I hope you don’t want to plow over the game fields. Hundreds of thousands of kids have played games there over the years since it’s opened. It’s a special moment for them to go and play at Disney world. It’s one of the few pure magical moments left in WDW. The cheerleaders as well. Hundreds of thousands of kids cheering and giving it their all. It’s what sports and Disney is all about. And obviously now that they have ESPN betting they need to build a casino not a 5th gate. 😉 love the show and all the on screen talent.

I put some of my Disney trip on credit and don't regret it at all. But that was in 2016. It's gotten much more expensive since then and so now I wouldn't do it again.

  • @DS-pe8tt

No, I don’t go into debt to go to Disney. But I also am regular passholder so I go for the experience, the magic, the ambience. What I don’t see, I can see on the next visit so I’m not under the pressure to shove everything in x Amount of days. I also don’t use Disney+ or lightning lane unless I’m with a big group (which is rare) or the crowds are really bad. I use rope drop mainly to take advantage of lower wait times first thing in the morning.

  • @joemazz958

Disney doesn't seem to have enough original ideas for a fifth gate.

  • @Elizabeth-lj1vm

No! A Disney vacation is not worth going into debt!

  • @stephendesjardins3626

I've never, ever, done a Disney vacation where I didn't significantly go into debt. Unless one is independently wealthy, how can one not, yet still enjoy themselves.

  • @nintandrew13

Something I heard recently is that the increases in Disney prices has enabled them to not depend on sponsors for attractions and things.

  • @UmmYeahOk

We went into debt for Disney, but it was Tokyo Disney, so it was totally worth it. That debt was mostly travel costs, and not Disney though.

  • @martelvonc

Technically, no. We save up before we go. Some debt comes from extraneous purchases but those are totally paid off in a month or two because we use our Disney Visa, and the interest rate on that is ridiculous.

  • @PinkTigger33

No. If I can't pay cash, I save up until I can. That was the old Disney though. I am not going to the broken down parks and limited entertainment that exists today. Not worth my money or time.

  • @breezywithkids

Never! We save all year (besides taking our kids to the beach in the summer) and we pay cash! It’s $12,000- $14,000 for my family of 6 for 8 or 9 days or 4 days and a 4 day cruise 😊

  • @VixenLovelove

Could you discuss the Das changes and controversy please. It was a listed talking point on the last two streams but you ran out of time and didn’t talk about it on either stream. It’s a very big issue and I don’t think it’s getting discussed enough by the larger channels, unless they already dislike Disney.

  • @timschultz2806

Absolutely not. We have he advantage of living in FL so there are no flights or rental cars involved. Hotels yes but we rarely stay on property as we only use the hotel to lay our head. We rarely eat at sit down restaurants. We don’t buy merchandise that will just add clutter. We go for the experiences. The rides, the ambience, watching our daughter have tons of fun. It should be noted, as a family, we don’t carry credit card debt. It’s one of the dumbest things you can do with your money (technically the banks money which you will continue to pay on long after your vacation is over).

  • @supremefan

Better to blow your money at the rate of inflation then save it. Just don't pay the credit card bills in the future. only takes 7 years to reset your credit.
