I’ve had 2 x 2.2 Evoques, the current one has the 9 speed automatic as the latest ones... First was a Pure, second a dynamic. Both have been great and I’d have another in a heartbeat.
We skipped it due to the bad rear view when backing. A rear view camera will not resolve it either as o e need a good side view too but that is blocked by the massive d-pillars. The angle of the a-pillars is also to low (and to thick!), it should be much more upright, like at the Volvo XC40.
It's summer 2022 and I just ordered a plug-in-hybrid here in Spain. Never was aware of the Evoque hype in previous years and drove German cars most of the time Will see if it is reliable and worth the high price tag. What I am sure about is that the design still stands out and the interior materials and equipment seem poshy. Thanks for the review.
Love your channel. I'm actually digging all the SUV reviews atm, as while I like to think myself a bit of a car enthusiast I know damn well my next car will be something on stilts. Getting old, man....
I love mine, the screens went within 3 days (love that) so they upgraded it to ones out of the velar. Made a difference, putting it in sport mode really makes a difference too, it can be slow off the mark at lights but in sport mode it flys off. Deffo looks better with upgraded wheels 😂 the cup holders are awkward & not much storage in the front. It is unreal off-road though, it just goes and goes effortlessly
Great review, thanks Mark. Good to see they've finally sorted out the Ingenium diesel. I wonder if it's also improved in its other applications? Hope the reliability is similarly improved. Time will tell...
Just wondering how does that Chris Rea parking gubbins works? Does it summon up a hologram of him singing Road to Hell as you park - that would be really neat.
"Just OK cabin"? It's a great cabin, high quality and probably best in class, or very close to. I have no idea why you find it cramped, it has a cockpit style feel which is what many people want and many manufacturers have copied that as a result and it's a very comfortable car. Cannot comment further because I stopped watching at that point. I have always liked the Honest John website, one of my go-to motoring sites but I'm not so sure after this. Just a note on visibility, you can't change that without altering the style of the vehicle which is probably it's biggest selling point so I don't know why reviewers keep bringing it up. You can see that without ever going to view a car so if that's a really issue for you, you wouldn't be interested in buying it in the first place. Same with luggage space, 99% of us just need to carry a couple of suitcases once or twice a year. Nobody ever mentions the fact that you can stand the cases up vertically which you can't do in most hatches without removing the parcel shelf and leaving it behind. In the Evoque it will store upright against the back of the rear seats. For the rest of the time it's just carrying shopping or school kit. for anything larger that needs to be moved occasionally, that's why these cars have drop-down seats so please, reviewers, stop banging on about luggage space.
Love your channel. Just one question. What or where is this "Geordie ", U speak of?? I will assume it is town/place in the UK. Great review as usual. Thanks team.
Will it spend as much time in the garage getting fixed as the previous model? Not asking for a friend, as my wife has one and it is unreliable. The spec options until you add expensive extras are very basic too.
I owned a Range Rover Evoque HSE. It should have come standard with a tow truck. The styling of the vehicle looks great but can’t overcome the look of being hooked up to a rig while being towed back to the dealership for repairs. As far as off-road capability, the RR got stuck in a small snowdrift backing out of my garage on my daily commute to work. I have moved on to a Volvo and couldn’t be happier.
My daughter was given the latest model in HSE guise as a company car. At first she thought it was average . Now she thinks its OK. Not great just OK. Her previous car was a golf diesel ! Ive driven it and its nice. Nothing more, Just nice. Look forward to your reviews.
Ah, the Evoque... I feel people bought them because it was a cheap way into Range Rover ownership, and didn't want a Qashqai because they were so common... and yet still ended up driving something rather common, albeit with less space. I can actually see a point in owning a D180, not that I'll ever find myself in that position.
Ha! Yes, but it'll cost 15% more and we'll have sold off most of the good bits to America. (Disclaimer: HonestJohn.co.uk is an apolitical organisation. The above joke does not reflect the company's views.)
