I’ve had 2 x 2.2 Evoques, the current one has the 9 speed automatic as the latest ones...
First was a Pure, second a dynamic. Both have been great and I’d have another in a heartbeat.

We skipped it due to the bad rear view when backing. A rear view camera will not resolve it either as o e need a good side view too but that is blocked by the massive d-pillars. The angle of the a-pillars is also to low (and to thick!), it should be much more upright, like at the Volvo XC40.

It's summer 2022 and I just ordered a plug-in-hybrid here in Spain. Never was aware of the Evoque hype in previous years and drove German cars most of the time Will see if it is reliable and worth the high price tag. What I am sure about is that the design still stands out and the interior materials and equipment seem poshy. Thanks for the review.

I love mine, the screens went within 3 days (love that) so they upgraded it to ones out of the velar. Made a difference, putting it in sport mode really makes a difference too, it can be slow off the mark at lights but in sport mode it flys off. Deffo looks better with upgraded wheels 😂 the cup holders are awkward & not much storage in the front. It is unreal off-road though, it just goes and goes effortlessly

"Just OK cabin"? It's a great cabin, high quality and probably best in class, or very close to. I have no idea why you find it cramped, it has a cockpit style feel which is what many people want and many manufacturers have copied that as a result and it's a very comfortable car. Cannot comment further because I stopped watching at that point. I have always liked the Honest John website, one of my go-to motoring sites but I'm not so sure after this.
Just a note on visibility, you can't change that without altering the style of the vehicle which is probably it's biggest selling point so I don't know why reviewers keep bringing it up. You can see that without ever going to view a car so if that's a really issue for you, you wouldn't be interested in buying it in the first place.
Same with luggage space, 99% of us just need to carry a couple of suitcases once or twice a year. Nobody ever mentions the fact that you can stand the cases up vertically which you can't do in most hatches without removing the parcel shelf and leaving it behind. In the Evoque it will store upright against the back of the rear seats. For the rest of the time it's just carrying shopping or school kit. for anything larger that needs to be moved occasionally, that's why these cars have drop-down seats so please, reviewers, stop banging on about luggage space.

I owned a Range Rover Evoque HSE. It should have come standard with a tow truck. The styling of the vehicle looks great but can’t overcome the look of being hooked up to a rig while being towed back to the dealership for repairs. As far as off-road capability, the RR got stuck in a small snowdrift backing out of my garage on my daily commute to work. I have moved on to a Volvo and couldn’t be happier.

Ah, the Evoque... I feel people bought them because it was a cheap way into Range Rover ownership, and didn't want a Qashqai because they were so common... and yet still ended up driving something rather common, albeit with less space. I can actually see a point in owning a D180, not that I'll ever find myself in that position.

I imagine you're right in the short term but you know as well as I if we all changed over to electric vehicles in the next couple of years there would be zero chance of being enough electricity supply to power demand.
EV only moves emissions to a different place.
Electric is only a stepping stone to hydrogen fuel cell (have a look at Wright Bus in Northern Ireland - now owned by the son of JCB ceo Anthony Bamford).
I'm in the agricultural world - there is nothing remotely suitable in terms of EV technology that would power a tractor certainly not a combine harvester which works at full torque, flat out for 20 hours a day.

    • @cleggbrendan
      @cleggbrendan 5 лет назад

@@jimgoodwin6294 That's what I thought but National Grid have basically said 'bring it on'. And the electricty suppliers can't wait to ramp up their sales - they will now have somewhere to put all that surplus overnight wind generation as most EV charging is done overnight on driveways. And remember all the electricity presently wasted in fossil fuel extraction and refining - this will be saved.

Soccer mom's everywhere rejoice. The new minivan. In fairness to JLR, this is more exciting than the tired and completely average Lexus NX/RX/UX so it's hard to hate. Many of the big SUV's are unreliable, they are complicated cars both in engineering and electronics. A quick look on the reliability index shows Audi worse than Landrover for large SUV's its their smaller simpler cars that help them achieve a higher reliability rating overall which Landrover don't offer.
    www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/20
    www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/135
Even the Toyota Landcruiser isn't that reliable with below average reliability and high repair costs.
    www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/277
It's a mute point anyway as people buying this new get the warranty, reliability issues are for those down the line who buy secondhand, I've a feeling the sort of people who buy these new probably will buy something new before the 3 years is up. As gorgeous as the Evoque is I wouldn't buy one or any of the competitor's models, I don't need a SUV and prefer a estate car for practicality and driving dynamics. Interesting review though but the only really reliable and cheap to run 4x4 is probably the Suzuki Jimny.
