- A powerful storm has dumped mounds of snow across the upper Midwest, closing highways, canceling flights and collapsing the roof of the Minnesota Vikings' stadium. The NY Giants-Minnesota Vikings game will be played in Detroit Monday. (Dec. 12)
Man, if I came to work and saw this, I'd turn around and go back home. Wow.
Ikr
Naw I would become spider man and idc if I’m gonna die of fall dmg ima slide down the whole thing
Imagine if a game was going on 💀
haha there was a game planned
it was 5 am in the morning
Then it would look like lambo field.
Horrible!😅
That's why he said "imagine"..
🙄😒@@SigmaRaptor27
Finally, a touchdown.
Actually laughed, thx💀
I remember seeing this in fifth grade. Me and my friend both thought they were dummies for building an inflatable dome in a place like Minnesota.
And in fifth grade you were smarter than them too like who tf puts that kind of dome there bruh
Noticed I sounded sarcastic but I’m not lol
Gotta keep the late fall football players warm here...
"I have a great idea, let's make the roof of our stadium out of fabric and use air to keep it up. Ignore the fact that it snows for what is effectively half the year, naw it'll work"
That's my favorite part........ building such a stadium in Minneapolis Minnesota of all places. Not like their winters are brutal 😅
@@PapaShango619 unfortunately they’ve gotten more mild over the last decade. We get extreme swings. We can have 60 degree temperatures in December now followed by below zero the next week
Didn’t work
Lasted 30 years
@@arwyss And it was only rated for 20 years.
i love the cutting back and forth between the roof POV and the wide angle. it's like the dome collapsing in titanic!
0:02 man look at the guy on the cart pushing 160mph to get out of there😂😂😂
It looks like an animal 😂
he was on a forklift there was a documentary and he was pouring out buckets with leaking water and then he heard sliding and cracking and looked up and just saw black and raced out of there as fast as he could
“Run, Forest, run!” ahh situation
Two years later, and I still love this video.
do you still love this video 10 years later?
Hi
@@poke51padre74 how about 11 years later?
melissa r u ok
@@united_kaoshow about 12 years
I remember they said the reason it tore was because the normal snow abatement system (hot water melting it) was overwhelmed by that huge storm so it just melted and froze into *ice* which added too much weight and led to the failure.
Thought of this video after Tropicana Field
Same
I was supposed to be at this game! We drove all the way from Rochester to stay in a hotel the night before, what a nightmare that was, will never forget it!
So did you forget yet?
I can’t believe that was 12 years ago
if i remember correctly, the Vikings had to play their remaining games at the former TCF Bank Stadium where the Gophers play football. As a Bears fan, i remember Brett Favre getting clobbered into the freezing ground in one of the last games of 2010. Probably the last time the Bears were actually competitive lol
And the fact that they evacuated everyone in time…that’s literally a miracle
I'm surprised no one has said this yet.
This incident can truly be labeled an EPIC FAIL on the part of the decision maker(s) who bought the stadium "roof".
Imagine this at the middle of a game 💀
@0:24 what was running along the background sideline?
Packers fan with a large box cutter 😂😂😂😂
i would of still played in the stadium... how much damage would a little snow do to a team that should play in the snow anyway?
you're basically filling a bucket in with snow, so lots of damage to the bucket because it wasn't designed to be a bucket.
@DayOneMedia It's a fabric roof, that's nearly 30 years old, not surprising it eventually fell.
@TheBigNast187 I noticed that as Fox showed it the first time yesterday. They said no one was present. My only guess is and it may sound offbeat is they have dogs (maybe bomb sniffing) that patrol through the stadium at night.
its actually in reverse. what actually happened was that it got flooded and it was just sucking out the water
NOTICE far sideline,,whats moving left to right 2-6 seconds into this failure>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>??????????????????????? You will see something moving or running left to right about the size of a horse??
im just tryin to figure out what is running on the side line?
I'm just glad no one got hurt when this happened. If it had happened later on in the morning...
Great planning guys. DUZ IT EVR SNO IN MINNESOTA?
isn't this copyrighted material by fox?
Thanks for sending me here Jon.
@poisonm11 it's A maintenance worker driving a forklift, it looked fast because the video was a sped-up time-lapse video.
Ah, reminds me of our infamous Silver dome that the Lions abandoned here in Detroit. Snow penetrated the roof a couple times, even took out a row of seats.
Yes 👍🏻 loved 🥰 me some silverdome back in the day!
at 26 what is that going across the field
what was running along the side lines on the far side?
That is how US Bank Stadium bill got approved!
Free ice rink I guess
Yeah weak RUclips comedy
Wow looks like something from a movie!
@childrenofcorn12 not fake it actually happened. The security cameras caught this on tape not Fox. This stuff happens in the north in winter. We usually have to shovel snow off the roof every year for the same reasons. Have you ever been to Minnesota in the winter?
@p154831 I think its good to question things. If they get a new stadium who do you think will have to pay?
Okay, what's the animal-type thing running along the sideline on the upper right of the screen at 0:01-0:03, and also at 0:24-0:26?
Yeah Idk what that was
There was a crew moving quickly in a small vehicle. I found a video that showed a different angle. Insane that somebody was running for their lives 😮
what the hell is that shadow at 0:26, it is the same clip as the beginning of the video except for that shadow on the right side of the field
@MetallicMayhem54
it's not shaking because it's not mounted to the roof..
the building is 100's of thousands of tons of concrete a 300 mph wind would not
move the building. how ever it would completely rip off that rubber roof.
That makes at least two arenas this year that have had their roofs demolished by weather. The other happened this summer, when a tornado ripped the roof off the Rimrock Arena in Montana.
really
@00tonytone Workers were on the roof using high pressure heated water to melt the snow away. But they were removed when it was deemed to dangerous an operation and they were going to continue the next day.
@eNjoipandapoop77 what is that running? I thought nothing was in there
At the very beginning at about the 40 yard line toward the back is that a dude running away or something else?
I remember when this happened and being 12, i thought it was the coolest thing ever 😂
@kosmicearthin It's probably a shadow from something on the ceiling that is "moving" as the roof collapses.
"Well Bob, I think that solves our problem on how to get rid of the roof."
there is something moving across the far side of the pitch at the very start... anyone has any idea whta it is?
Anybody else see the ghost at 24 seconds? What the heck is that?
Looks like a dog or horse?? What would it be doing there?
@@d.h.8202 Had to scroll a lot to find somebody mentioning it
@mooseasaurusrex It was postponed, but then they moved it to Ford Field in Detroit as the Lions volunteered to host the game. All remaining home games for the season will be hosted at the University of Minnesota's outdoor stadium.
What the hell was running down the sidelines at the very start of the video?
The TV cameras were left on, with the complete intention of catching any incident with the roof. The Snow was heavy and been a problem before. The Network was lucky to get the footage it did, but it was a playing a hunch. It worked.
what was that running at the bottom right of the screen...?
I saw this live on the Pregame Show. It was surreal... just like the weather is EVERYWHERE else around the globe. At least the fans got to see a REAL football game in Minnesota! go bears
@granturismo5101 no its the problem of heavy snow on soft roof stadiums..
Sorry if this has been answered but:
I see a lot of people asking how/why this was shot so late. If you read the Yahoo news article (that I can't link, sry), it will tell you.
Apparently the FOX camera man (or everyone) knew this would happen, so they set up an unmanned camera overnight. The article states, among other things, "This FOX crew had the foresight to put a camera on a leaky roof and it paid off with some of the best video you'll ever see".
did it collapse twice? cause they got a picture where it collapsed during a game, and this one of an empty stadium .
whos bright idea was it to use a fabric type roof for a stadium in a state that snows?
@krisgrant It's probably because of the air pressure.
what was that going across the field in the beginning
look by the right feldgoul post what is that
The Minnesota metrodome is now collapsed. The giants and the Vikings game move to Monday night in Detroit. Coverage begins at 7:00 PM eastern and 4:00 PM Pacific on fox
@jaboo82681 they just got a new stadium, right?
@Genesis2386 they just got a new stadium, didnt they?
They said they wanted an open roofed stadium. I don't see what the problem is.
Was Viking roof replaced on their stadium
0:25 is a man running for his life, no ghost.
@xXTinckoyXx I think its actually a field cart. it seems to be on the ground not in the air. Could be either really.
How did they get this?
@TheOBBoy87 It looks like one of those cameras that moves around above the players during games, I think they're called skycams.
@gosciu555 Was there supposed to be a game that day? They could've been setting up the cameras for the game? Possibly? But i agree with the "Professional" camera shot of the roof. That looks like it was set up. Its hard to tell under some of the circumstances. :\
@FallingInReverse11 Someone told the FOX crew that they'd never had so much snow on the roof and they weren't sure if it'd hold so FOX left a few cameras running.
@vampirechick0001 glad to see i wasnt the only one who noticed that! what do you think it can be?!
@gosciu555 I believe there were people in there to test some of the lights as well. The cameras were just rolling.
@swenger27a No you're not very observant. Its fox cameras and it even says courtesy of fox sports. And what, Minnesota doesnt expect snow? You have to build those stadiums strong not weak. Especially if you get a whole lot of snow.
I’m glad that they demolished the Metrodome and replaced it with US Bank Stadium. That roof is strong enough to keep the fans warm from inside so that the cold weather couldn’t come inside.
Did you all see that image running in the opposite direction of the gaping hole at 0:26?
@Guitar10163 NO, ITS BRET FARVE, HE DID THAT.
@Guitar10163 Dude, I saw that too!!! What the hell? Either that or it's a crazy looking golf cart!
it's a speaker from off the roof, still connected to a wire and sliding across the ground as the roof drags it
I see the running shape to. My boyfriend thought it might be a camera moving but I don't think so, lol
@mygamer1 NO its the problem with soft roofs. Weather/snow happens normally.
is this thing real?
@wilgarroba no cameraman, its the stationary stadium cameras
a cart tumbling away from the hole due to the air pressure change, thats why it appears to be running.
I love this video
@Sports564 its all over the news.. they canceled the game and moved it to detroit.. it honestly blows my mind that people actually think this is fake
the sound of the snow crashing was the best part.
@scher201 Well at least where I live our bridges dont fall down, and stadiums dont collapse. Are you seeing a trend yet? Other areas in the US and Canada get heavy snow and extreme weather , yet this doesnt happen ahhhhhh
@theDend72 tell me then... how would you fake tis?
@PookeoResurrected1 I've never seen a forklift gallop like that, Are you sure you're sure?
Why does this look animated?
I wonder what it was like to be that worker, Hearing that thing make noises .. Bet it was scary..
puts me in mind of my college days. a night out drinking cranberrie vodkas, taking shots, & drinking more and more and more beer
What idiots would make a dome roof out of a balloon type thing?! Didn't they think about snow and rain!?
@11cory maybe because it was leaking and they thought it might collapse later?
Why was a Fox camera recording at 5am in an empty stadium?
+Cody Granley Security camera?
Most likely because they knew it wouldn't be able to hold up to the show that was coming down so they got the cameras rolling to record it. You can see the wire cameras running back and forth in the video.
@ps2gamer72450 If you really look at it though the lighting effect on the seats change because the lights on the roof are coming closer to the ground therefore making the seats brighter and you can also see that some of the light on the field is moving cause the lights are probably swinging back and forth from the roof moving.
@135aerosmithfan dude...I saw what I think you saw? It looked brown and was streaking across the opposite sideline. It looked to fast to be a golf cart almost looked like an animal. I rewatched the video several times and paused it but I can't for sure tell what it is....but definetley funny as hell!
@kiashadowwave this was on the news yesterday
0:25
Guy making his getaway on the sideline: Aw SHIT
@11cory
News stations have to prepare for upcoming games by setting up cameras the days before. Its not like they can set up all of that equipment in two hours :P
