No, we are using Lego Mindstorms NXT Education, which consists of 9797 and 9695 boxes. This also includes a LiPol rechargeable battery and AC/DC charger so we have no problems with AA batteries.
Nxt has three output ports. So, one for right motor, one for left motor and the third for the lights. I think the Education kits even comes with the NXT-->9V adapter cable for the lamps
there deffinitely should be path finding around obstacles added. thats quite possible with given programming environment and should be done to count given concep fully implemented.
I really hope my university (going there this summer) will have a funding for Lego robots too :) I'd get ten sets of the NXT education set and all the nice HiTechnic sensors (compass, gyro, acceleration etc..).
Funny video, great music and nice experiment. I was just thinking about batteries, one nxt takes six, and you have ten of them. So you need 60 AA batteries to power them :)
Good Job. Now decrease wind resistance friction losses , which goes up with square of speed, by getting them to couple and un-couple like a train, but at simulated highway speeds with vehicles merging into the train and exiting. Elastic coupling with shock absorbers to even out minor speed differences? Program each engine/motor to contribute its vehicle's share of inertia and friction to the train using distributed crowd sourced computing and motive power for overall societal cost savings.
I am from this uni (haven't worked on this project) and trust me, the level is pretty high; making a control system that can hold constant offsets between vehicles is a surprisingly difficult task. I have recently talked to the people behind it and while it looks silly simple, it is actually really REALLY complex. :P The NXT robots weren't bought for this project specifically. They are here so that we (1st graders) can make line following robots, sumo robots, ball collecting robots, bridge laying robots, self-balancing robots... etc. :3 Great learning tool, really.
Damn, very nice work. I have to do a similar project for my university, also with lego mindstorms. But we only have two cars. They are similar to yours. We´re trying to program it with Matlab/Simulink. But at the moment our cars can only drive at a tape line. We have difficulties to use the ultrasound sensor togehter with the light sensor, So at the moment they´re not getting slower if the´re driving to close to the car in front. Did you really programm it with the mindstorms standart software
looks like you have money ,, omg this is expensive ,,, i just buy one , EV3 its 350euro ,, and thats only one ,, is this the student version ?? cool vid, its great to have that mutch controle ,,thnxx for the vid.. thumbs up to you
Začátek je hezký, to že neobjedou květináč už tak hezké vzhledem k VŠ není ... a na konci čáry, by se třeba od posledního mohli obrátit a jet zpět. Nebo to se bude řešit v další pětiletce?

All you need to do is add some AI, and go hunting. It reminds me of those siafu ants. Another idea: with all those robots, you could make a mega robotic humanoid. That'd take a lot of work, though...
funny ending. the lights on the top are cute when the robots free driving on the floor.

omg I love this. this is like star wars little droids. It is brilliant work :D BRAVO!!

Done with university :)?

We are a University, so we have a funding for this.
It would be cool if you could actually give commands to them using the sound sensor.
Good Job.

Future of cars, right here.
Adorei... Excelente! Vou fazer com os meus alunos...
They are soo cute! Makes me think a little of Wall-e, especially the bit where they all go haywire. They are not too smart though :).
What a fantastic use of $3500. And in what way is this on a university's level of robotics... unless this is meant to be a film project?

the behind the scenes bit was hilarious
That must have been really loud.
these things drive better than 90% of people that i have seen
Damn, very nice work.

Audi has this in their cars now :) automatic cruise control the keeps the distance, not the speed :)
Yes, it is may be little bit more than 210.
do you have a building guide, or maybe a program?
Great thing. How they go on a curve?
What's the songs name ? And it's a great video !
I remember making these for a lego building class that we had it was cool
Why don't you make them go around stuff and then seek back to the blue line?
So many people ask for the program... How about try the default program that comes with the mindstorm?
You should have let em run circles and make some traffic jam experiments.
Not smarter than lemmings though. It should have path finding when the blue line is blocked like ants do.
how did you get the lights to work if you have both moters on the batterie pack
amazing how much that must have costed, i think that was expensive
they're cute

blaster12v ev3 was not out at the time

very fun :)
thx for this video ;)
That's a few thousand dollars worth of Mindstorms kits!
1:59 STOP PUSHING ME!

Did you perfect the algorithms for these little drones to stay in formation?
+バートレット理路 theres a laser on the bottom that guides them. Thats why there along the painted lines
+SpockSpike Spick Let me clarify my question, did you resolve the issues where they stayed properly spaced apart?
Using the swarm drone techniques?
Lol, your question was too much for an internet expert ...
That may come handy if you want to carrysodas to different rooms
Now make them conencted to each other (bluetooth, wlan) and let them do manuevers and formations without lines on the floor.
let the invation of the lego company begin
and what do you do for a living in which you can afford this?
Haha I lol'd at the behind the scenes.
wow , how many robots do you have ?
how much did that cost?!?!?!?!
Where did you get those lights?
Well done
Very cute I like!
wonderful!!
That looks cute.
what is the song minute 0.57??
nice
2:15 run! you are free!
what program did you use?
Hey guys, FINALLY! The second music is "Baby elephant walk", by Henry Mancini. There, enjoy
Whats the name of the first song?
2:04 "Sir have you been drinking tonight?"
Only if the world was this organized.
:)
how much money did this cost
Very funny ending.
About USD 5000 this experiment. But we have 210 of these sets.
How much money and time do you have?!
can i see the program?
c'est quoi la première musique avec le tambour
HOW? One NXT kit already costs around USD200! :O
Nice !
how much money was spent there ?
really cool^!!!
One set costs about 9000 Kč, thats about USD 430.
just like in wall-e, they have to stay on the designated lines
Decorate them into Humvees.
konečně češi vymysleli něco epickýho:D
it is forbiddeno to make 4 wheeled robots turn like that :(
thats funny thanks for upload ;-)
someone has a lot of money.whats the music at 1:01?
All you need to do is add some AI, and go hunting. It reminds me of those siafu ants.

instructions please?
which one?
LOL how many have you bold for this?
How do u make that!?
they go WILD when they're drunk XDDDD
don't you mean 5000?
dotaz nefunguje neco podobného v motolské nemocnici roboti kteří sledují čáru a rozváží material
1:11 whats the music please?
66ywrx
+Tokatt I think elephant walk
How much robots are this?
Ten
Yes this are be several robot
*plant pot*
and that is a traffic jam
Blázni, žádná škola prostě blázni :D
Epic
Oh god, they're going to invade!
name of this song ??
The Great Escape - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
Im in the part of youtube where awesome shit happens :O
TRAFFIC JAM!
Omg taková přehlídka :D
But still very cool
this is a basic build of NXT mindstorms.
Can you put laser guns on them and order them to toast a piece of bread while driving by in formation? PLZ? :D
0:18 march of the lego robots
He's a student at a Uni!
ah god how i wish i could have funding for cool nerd stuff
Take a RC Indoor helicopter and build a Anti Aircraftgun :D
